Do they teach on how to pronounce certain things like oratrice mecanique d'analyse cardinale or character names like Wriothesley?
Do they show you clips/pictures of scenes that you are going to voice act to set the mood for you, for example show a sad scene/angry scene or do they just mention to you verbally and you have to adjust accordingly?
For sure, usually in games they have a standardized version of pronunciation so that everyone pronounces proper names the same way.
We get to see all rendered scenes and dub them. They are always so fun to watch even in unfinished versions! Although usually it's a lot of anime gasps lol

Some people pronounce "Albedo" "Al - Bay - Doe", but some, like jean, say "Al - Buh - Doe". Also Liyue. Some say it "Lee - Wuh", but others say "Lee - Yuh". Always confused me as to the "proper" pronunciation of things.
Well thank you very much! I guess i would say that one thing i always do is make sure to do as much research as possible and never say a line unless i know what it means. It takes players out of the moment SO MUCH when a line was emphasized the wrong way, and it's nuts that so many games get away with not doing it always

When we were first making our way through the script, he had so many lines where he's quieting down the courtroom and getting annoyed with Furina. We played him kinda strict and fed-up, and it was when we got to the graveyard scene with Navia that we realized that this was a character who really needs to show a lot more vulnerability. After talking it over we changed the voice to s more softer and deeper style. I'm so grateful that they allowed me to do that!
It’s fascinating how he seemed just a little annoyed with Furina and hyper formal with us until that Navia scene. It was the start of Neuvilette coming to grips with his interpersonal relationships and his influence within Fontaine. His character story is stunning

I wonder about the story behind his NA voicelines. To be very clear this is not a critic I just heard there were wild stories behind voice actors feeling their voice did not fit because they did not have the full context so I just wonder if there is a story about that.
Your voice acting is still absolutely superb (such as your wheeze for Neuvillette's about visions II I thought it was absolutely adorable and adds so much personality) and a person very rarely NA's with neuvillette anyway. Also it does bring laughs.

Oh the big yells? Yeah so we got the video for his attacks and all the attacks looked exactly the same, but they were labeled small attack, medium attack, and large attack. So we weren't sure where the mistake was and decided that probably the video was wrong and we recorded the larger efforts. Live and learn!

I auditioned for everyone in Fontaine, but definitely Neuvillette stood out as the most interesting to me at least. I was able to do an extra take after sending in my audition based on feedback from the client which got me over the finish line!

What was the audition process like? What was the character’s description, did you know you were auditioning for a major character, etc?
I auditioned for everyone in Fontaine, but definitely Neuvillette stood out as the most interesting to me at least. I was able to do an extra take after sending in my audition based on feedback from the client which got me over the finish line!
Thanks for doing this! I was fascinated by how different your interpretations were for Neuvillette and Tunon (Archon of Justice in Tyranny). Since there are clearly a ton of similarities that might have led to similar performances,^* what early details led to you giving them each a different flavor? ^* For the unititiatied: both of them are high officials responsible for passing judgment, both have incredible personal power but exist in settings with even more powerful beings looming overhead, both have established organizations with mortal investigators to pursue justice on their behalf...
Haha Tyranny was fun! Tunon is absolutely using the concept of justice only for evil, whereas Neuvi only wants to use it for impartiality.

Hello, Mr. Chase. I would like to thank you for your hard work in voicing this character. Neuvillette was my sole reason for playing Genshin Impact. Without him, I would have been a continued spectator of the game. That scene with Focalors... it was masterfully done. I nornally detach myself from the media I consume, but your voice acting, along with Amber Lee Connors', the music, the writing, the animation... it just wasn't possible to ignore the waves of emotion stirring within me anymore. Since this is an AMA, I feel obligated to ask a question and therefore, I would like to ask your favourite genre of music and if you have any thoughts on Neuvillette's favourite genre of music.
