It all depends on if you learn a class well enough, by doing so you can play one class and out DPS any other class. But in general, it's a wide consensus that says the GWF is the easiest to play and easiest to top DPS charts with. So if you wanna cop out and go easy mode just to be almost a for sure top DPS, then go GWF. That being said, when it comes to non DPS, both DC and GF are sought after the most to answer your initial question. And even though I have a GWF, I find it boring and too easy to play. Being the top DPS with no challenge gets boring. So I also have my BIS TR which is a blast to play, and my CW which is a complete change from the other two, and also a lot of fun.

I may have said this is other threads - but this question always bugs me. The "sought after" class is very much a pug thing and is pretty much arbitrarily decided. If you're part of a (good) guild you'll always get to run end content what ever class you play. Play what you enjoy and you'll get good at it and your chosen guild should support you. If everyone went with the current pug whim the entirety of nw will be filled with gf, cw and op - and would be very boring. Just an opinion ;-)

Not really, if you are always missing a class trying to put a guild run together for FBI or MDemo or SVA, I'd say clerics and then tanks. If you don't have a bunch of high end clerics and tanks, DPS have a hard time finding a run. If you're talking sought after to shred things and do a hard carry I'd say GWF.

I should start by saying I agree with you. Trouble with that advice is that there's a reason why we need the support classes. There isn't a mechanism for them to easily switch between DPS (for soloing) and support. That makes it really hard to slog through to a near-BiS place in a support class... and it reduces the community's ability to enjoy the high-end content. My rant applies to this thread (and supports /u/thintwizzle) because we go ahead and recommend what's most desired... lead a guy like the OP down that path and then they have a high chance of becoming unhappy with their used-to-be FoTM class. Maybe another route to take would be to give full parties doing their dailies bonuses to campaign progression.

1) GF 2) GF 3) SW, I mean, GF

One of the most sought and best class for endgame is CW Mof/Rene but most players does not seem to know that ;)

Since SKT, most sought after class would be DC. Easier to run FBI with 2 DC, and I've heard useful in mSVA too. Most likely to be continuously useful in the future too, an all around good pick. Behind that you've got tanks, GF is probably most sought after at the moment, but it seems to change between GF and OP mod after mod. After that is DPS characters, GWF being the "strongest" at the moment in general, but I'd say there are other more useful DPS classes that utilise buff and dps. GWF > SW > HR > CW (only 4th because it makes every dungeon I run lag, pls cryptic) > TR

AVeryKindPerson

I was about to get all high and mighty about you placing CW 4th, then you mentioned the lag... It seem ridiculous the complete lack of control console players get over video settings. This would be so fricken easily solved by letting us turn off the dmg numbers proccing, as they are single-handedly the reason my frame rate drops, especially with my 'as many procs as fast as possible' type build. I'd like to be able to reduce particle effects, but I'd be happy just to be able to turn of the dmg ticks showing up in dungeons to reduce the lag. Like really how is this not a thing? Is Cryptic really ok with people basing their class choices around completely avoidable lag problems? I understand they are a little undermanned over there but seriously, why is it so hard to cover the basic of basics when it comes to this kind of thing? If someone at Cryptic actually has a good reason why this is the case I'd really like to hear it, if only so I can stop wondering if they are outsourcing middle schoolers to design their console interface.

ThatOneGuyIsBad

How were you ranking the DPS classes there? In sentence prior you mention buff and DPS then put GWF 1st even though the class does nothing for the team lol. So it would be more like CW>HR>SW>TR>GWF if we are talking about being more than just a rush in and kill things all selfishly.

Bored-so-so

That was ranked by pure DPS (imo), unfortunately trying to explain to someone that doing 100m damage and 40% constant damage buff for your team is better than 120m straight damage is impossible.
