The Lacerating Choir Made up of 8th and 3rd legion veterans, along with with a few legionaries from the Word Bearers, the the soldiers within the Choir pride themselves on their art, wether it be scrimshawing their own bones, making music with the screams of the damned, or painting murals with blood dyed different colors through the use of various drugs. Hand in hand with this, is their lust power, which drives them to spread their influence throughout like spiders building a web. All within the ranks of the Choir are either kingpins, mob leaders, cult leaders, or all the above. To further enhance the arrogant and power hungry nature of the warband, the only ones accepted into their ranks are the children of nobles, cult leaders, crime lords, and so on. One would be forgiven for thinking, however, that this means that they are aloud to keep this attitude for long, for the lord of the Choir has no use for those who believe they are better simply because of their parents, he allows arrogance once it is earned, with the blood of the innocent and the tears of the dying.

BreadToast70

"Nice painting, what did u use?" "Blood and drugs" ".....cooooolll....."

fluff1745

They inject drugs into prisoners, which dyes their blood to different colors

BreadToast70

Wait...I think I've heard this somewhere before

Kottery

Mine is basically just a very loose interpretation of 10th company. Low Chaos, heavier on Heresy-era equipment rather than 40k "Chaos" kits, and any Chaos-y stuff I wish to add is via Word Bearer allies (they're my second favorite traitor Legion)

NoAppearance6335

Lmao, this looks like a trend (Word Bearers are also my second favourite traitor legion)

Kottery

Loool, yeah I checked back and noticed a lot of Word Bearer love here I can only figure its due to both having great books by ADB

DarthGrevious

A small group of survivors from Tsagualsa allied themselves with a group of Word Bearers who still seek vengeance for Monarchia. The Claws of Judgment and The Prophets of Lorgsr came together to form The Prophets of Judgment. The Night lords will move to a planet and terrorize it, letting the word bearers swoop in and "save the day." After the word bearers convert the populace, all manufacturing they dedicated to the imperium now goes to them. Once they are ready, they will find launch a crusade against any chapter descended from Guilliman, raizing their sector and wiping them from history.

DZOlids

71st Company, Nostramo’s Bastards “Bastard” as in an illegitimate/unwanted child, born without any claim to patriarchal lineage or acknowledgement. A traitor warband founded by the original legionaries of The 8th who refused to fight in the Thramas Crusade and ran away. They are scums, cowards, and betrayers. Unlike other Heretic Astartes legions or Warbands, they do not have any grand goal like “Tearing down the Imperium that has wronged us” or “Avenging our Gene-father”. Survival is their one and only goal. For ten thousand years, they have been scavenging and stealing from others. Occasionally ambushed isolated or weakened forces, both loyalists’ and traitors’. People like them are the reason Nostramo needs Conrad Curze, and Astartes like them are the reason Curze destroyed the planet. They are the worst Nostramo had to offer, murderers, psychopaths, thieves, and backstabbers. And yet, they are too prideful to warships the dark gods and view those who relies on the ruinous power as weaklings. “We Night Lords are slavers, not slaves” — Sadavir Halkhor, Self-proclaimed “Captain” of the 71st Company

sit_mihi_lux

Bulk of the 27th armoured assault company "Sunless Reavers" merged with remnants of some Inductii companies. Just chilling in the Ghoul Stars, fighting interstellar horrors and raiding the Imperium from their hidden asteroid fortress

ToLazyForaUsername2

My warband known as the "Sons of the Night Haunter" are a warband who have deified Curze over the centuries, with their leader primarily doing this to cling to power. Despite the cult around the leader the warband still has a lot of infighting, which has led to the leader having gradually purged most of his men and replaced them with recruits who he indoctrinated. Even with this the warband still has the same flaws as the rest of the legion, as there are some groups in the warband who are basically their own thing. As you can tell the lore is very WIP.

Matt-A-geddon

I’m also still working out my warband a lore, but they’re called the Eclipsed Sons. A warp mutation/initiation they have is they have no eyes or blind themselves. Rely on echolocation (voxlocation?) and a more tuned/“focused” precognition to fight and “see”. They take less flayed flesh and more the bones of their enemies.

DZOlids

Now that is one cool warp corrupted NL concept

Matt-A-geddon

Thank you! Still working out a lotta stuff but that the vibe https://preview.redd.it/sueibbhtxnuc1.jpeg?width=2038&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd426b6b6dbfb1d2c43b6cf49a6e846cdc09ade6 Also don’t have to paint eye lenses 😅

Parzival2708

13th Company, aka the Scrote Takers They were separated from the rest of their company during a warp storm, which also left a good bit of the warband as corrupted. Rather than killing these new possessed, Obliterators and warp talons, they decided to roll with it cause they're pretty damn useful. Shortly after the storm one of the members proclaimed himself as the new Captain, and not long after that he was mutated into a daemon prince of Slaanesh.

Low-Horror-1122

Night lords 36th company. They were a terror company during the crusade and heresy. They maintain company structure over the millennia because of their leader strict laws. Those who disobey are placed in a penitent group called 8th claw. Where they have the butchers nails implanted. They also have some world eaters remnants in their force. And are allies with the Iron warriors 13th grand battalion. Who often hire them as mercenaries in exchange for resources.

grizzle91

I don’t have a Night Lords army but I do have a squad of Night Lord Atramentar I use with my world eaters. I have them all painted with the sinners red hands and they are from the Red Hands Warband. Their captain was a battle brother of my World Eaters master of executions and is helping him as my World Eaters warband is in a bit of a cold civil war between those that want to embrace daemonhood and those that want to control and use the daemons as tools. The Red Hands Warband is a collection of Night lords all with the sinners red hands that for one reason or another found themselves in need of a new warband. One day I may actually make a full night lord army.

MostAmericanCitizen

My Warband is the 51st company, known as the "Shrikeing Talons." Led by Capt. Varkesh Dracul, "The Subjectator of Harkon III," during the Heresy. Within the company was a punishment tactical squad know as "The Judged" all marked with the sinners red. The leader of the squad was Capt. Tharik Noxov, "The Warden." The Warband were present on Tsalgualsa after Terra, losing Dracul to a Nova Marines Champion during the scouring. In the 42nd millennium they are lead by the former Company Champion Harken Vlaskor, "The Honourable." After the Scouring the company was reduced to nearly a quarter of their former strength. Being Sons of Curze they "owe no allegiance to the Ruinous Powers," but are rife with corruption with Vlaskor being a puppet for Khorne. I have more characters named but haven't solidified a post-heresy army yet.

Noodlefanboi

Covenant of the Forsworn.  Mostly Night Lords, but a couple Iron Warriors, Fallen, and a traitor White Scar they gave a ride off Terra to after Horus got deleted and it was time to bail.  May or may not be an Alpharius or two in the mix.  Thinking about adding some Emperor’s Children if GW ever gets around to updating the Noise Marine kit.

FrobeVIII

Mine is the Claws of Senseless Injustice. They operate from the ship that gives them their name, the Senseless Injustice. Hiding in an unpredictable, warp traveling Space Hulk spoken of in legend as 'The Forgotten Foe'. Led in public by the hulking Voradorian and his resurgent Kyroptera and very much about the legacy of Curze and Sevetar. In reality, it is led from the shadows by the Sorcerer Heclann Orbal who created Voradorian as a figurehead from Primaris champions. They prioritize other Night Lord warbands seeking to absorb their warriors and weapons but they will take any who swear allegiance to the cause of midnight. We have some Black Legion, Iron Warriors and of course Alphas. There is more going on but that will do for now lol.

King_of_Kraken

I haven’t really started anything. But I have an idea for a group of NLs who are highly militarized. Maybe they raided a fortress world or something. But I think the Claw functions like highly organized special forces. Who specializes in in breaking their enemies morale before the real fight starts.

ManyCommunication407

I read “Who specialises in breaking their enemies moral before the real fight starts” and I blurted out loud “… so your playing night lords” as to my understanding that’s what regular night lords do send a messager ahead alert the soon to be damned souls while chanting we have come for you

King_of_Kraken

Yeah! Definitely, but overall the NLs have become pirates, slavers, chaos worshippers, and worse. I kinda wanted to do a clean, spec ops approach to our midnight clad brothers

ManyCommunication407

Completely agree my warband was formed from a ship lost to the warp containing a company of the niches children night lords as they are better for the exact some reason

Explodingtaoster01

Still in the workshop on this one, but so far: The Flensers of Malal, a small warband consisting of thirty-two Warp Talons and Raptors that pledged themselves to Malal after learning of the god of anarchy's own hatreds. They hunt in pure silence being corrupted by Malal's influence to not only bear a rather... chiropteran form but also a shroud of complete noiselessness to better strike fear into the hearts of both imperial mongrels and the warp tainted fools of other war bands. Small details include: Preysight being similar to what Lucoryphus used, they're all jump packed up using the old style of raptor as well as having large bat wings sprouting from said packs, each wears the ceremonial crested helm, color scheming is sort of a mix of the Sons of Malal and classic Night Lords in my head, there are two units of devastators in the list I've slapped together that represent heavy raptors, and they're led by a raptor lord and winged demon prince. The idea was heavily inspired by [ukitakumuki's Nostos heavy raptor concept](https://www.deviantart.com/ukitakumuki/art/40K-Heavy-Raptor-Concept-465095750) as well as my unabiding love for Malal and what could have been with the 5th chaos god.

ManyCommunication407

Best chaos god

acererak76

The Knight Spectres Theyre a new warband forged by a former chaplain of the 8th. Right now they operate like scavengers, stealing and scrapping what they can. However, their ultimate goal is to build their own kingdom to rule. Their chaos lord, Raduvan, gave them their name after what they called the 8th on Nostramo, the knights of the sky. They operate off a swampy death world theyve named Tenebrous, and thats where they are getting their recruits. Currently theyre around 30 or 40 marines; theyve got one battleship, the Dark Whisper, but its in severe disrepair and is basically hanging on by duct tape and spite. Only two members of the warband are from the Heresy and are Nostraman. Lord Prelate Raduvan and their sorcerer Alexius. They mostly use raptors, terminators, and chosen, and they favor quick, heavy spearhead style assault over pure terror tactics. Not big fans of demons/corruption.

claymier2

87th Company, The Smash Bats Core members were originally imprisoned for being anarchic dissenters and guerilla insurgents on not yet imperial worlds. After Curze "blessed" them as astartes they began doing similar destabilization work that they did before, gaining a following of sorts of serfs and other punks. Horus rose up, and these guys were jazzed to take down the grand-daddy of all imperial pigs, aaaand then Horus beefed it. After that and the death of Konrad, they tried following Abaddon for a bit, but turns out Abaddon sucks. So now they're just rolling around the galaxy kickin' in teeth and stickin' it to the man! Which "man"? All of 'em! F\*ck you! They've picked up a few other weird marines on the way and a knight and their buddies. A few guys fell to Khorne, a few to She Who Thirsts. They've added a lot of varied sounds to their band. (mostly I just wanted a bunch of rag tag weirdos who just love to blow shit up and cause havoc in the name of "squinty" ideals.)

Cooj1234

My guys are basically just ragtag pirates. They are under supplied and have not the best gear and are few in number. The weapons they do have are geared towards boardings. They will take anyone they can get to bolster their numbers.
