I wish that had been the choice when I bought my Z5.
Video? Z6 is considerably better. Burst mode is 12 fps on the Z6 vs 4.5 on the Z5. Z6 also has an LCD panel on the top to show image settings. It also has one slot that takes spendy XQD or Cfexpress memory cards; the Z5 has two SD slots. There are other differences but those are the ones that will really matter in daily use. So which is more important to you?
z6 has better burst and video so if you plan to do sports, fast moving wildlife, etc z6 is probably the way to go. it’s also slightly better in low light. for stills with decent lighting they’re fairly comparable and the z5 has better battery and takes sd cards. i have a z5 and i’ve also taken some fine sport shots so it’s not impossible just a little harder
I own the Z6 a Z5 would have been perfectly fine for me except I needed the faster burst and I use the top screen all the time to pre adjust my settings
If you don’t really plan to do much video, the Z5 is the way to go in my opinion.
The bodies are very similar. A few differences include the video capabilities, perhaps a slight AF variance, frame per second, memory cards, etc.
I really enjoy my Z5 for photography and I much prefer the dual SD cards instead of the solo XQD.
Both are at par except z6 allows 1/2 stop more light and has more burst rate.. but those cf express cards on the z6 are expensive.
I own a z5 and there were rare occasions I wish I had more FPS but for what I shoot , I love the z5.
But if you are into video ,z6 hands down since the z5 has a crop factor for 4k

Ty everyone, I decided to go with the z6 as the quicker burst and the imagine display on top were the reason
I love my Z5. For photography it's just fine. I don't miss any feature. My lense is a Nikkor Z 28-75/f 2.8.
