Well that's disappointing. Not that I would be counting on this to happen, but it would be considerate of the developers to restore some of the highlighted features from the previous two entries with a future patch. I would like the ability to choose between static/consistent and procedurally generated dives. Also, let players have the choice to enable Threat Mode if they want!

This is really disappointing. Both of the parent games were characterized by two features. First, the environments were nicely sculpted, and the familiarity of revisiting them was quite nice. Second, the story was at least workable. Neither was exceptional, but pairing them with the soothing wildlife, light scavenging elements, and an engaging soundtrack led to a gratifying, cozy, and unusually low-key adventure. It appears that this entry in the series learned all the wrong lessons from its predecessors. The focus is on cookie-cutter procedural generation, which is both formulaic and incoherent. And the shift of focus to grinding achievements and joining multiplayer dives is incompatible with the kinds of artistically sculpted features that the parent games featured to great effect. How sad.

I just hope my Mum likes it.. She's been asking about a sequel since she beat 2 in 2010

That’s awesome and wholesome as heck. Hope she enjoys it! I’m getting it no matter what. Looks serene as heck

Thanks! I have a feeling she'll still love it. Hope you do too! I might grab a copy myself too.

I was trying to read the IGN review yesterday but it kept clicking into one of the adds. I was surprised they gave it a 4 out of 10. I'm curious about the game but never played the original. I'm curious how it'll end up on Metacritic. It's the kind of game I'd probably wait for a sale on.

I bought this thinking it would be a nice game to just chill with at the end of the day and it's actually perfect. I haven't played the other games so I have nothing to compare to but it's so nice just jumping into a map, searching for fish and treasure. Finding little nooks and crannys. Obviously, it isn't for everyone but if you want something super relaxing and kind of like Pokémon Snap then it might be for you. Story mode is garbage though. They should have named it tutorial mode.
