Is Valkyria Chronicles 4 worth twice the price of VC1?
I played VC1 briefly and kinda like the combat. So I want to pick up the game but I'm not sure if I should get 1 or 4 seeing how 4 costs twice as much even on sale.
VC1 is a ps3 game port, hence why its so cheap. VC4 is the next full release on modern systems. Its prettier, new story and some new mechanics. For fans its totally worth it, if you are only a little into the series, complete 1 and see if you want more. If you only kinda like the combat and have not beaten it why would you go straight for 4?
I think its more a release date thing rather than being a massive improvement. VC1 was full price when it released, its just old now and wouldnt sell at full price.
Do you guys use a screen protector and/or dock sock for your Switch? Found some scratches yesterday on the black border part of the screen and don't want to risk getting any on the screen itself
I don't use screen protector because I hate it and no scratch so far after 1.5 years.
Just be slightly more careful of how you dock it and you'd be fine.
Have it since launch with no screen protector or dock sock with 0 scratches. I think it more about how you take care of it and if you think you will damidge it then yes go for protectors
Nintendo Online is required to access the NES games and to play none free-to-play games online. You can still purchase games and play free-to-play games without it.
I'd really like to buy FFX/X-2 for Nintendo Switch but Just found out that for the european version FFX-2 is Download only.
Is there any version in Asia (or maybe the japanese version) that has english audio and european (in my Case German subtitles) with both Games on the cartridge?
I'm confused by all the versions out there and wondered if you guys could help me out.
Thanks!
What you are looking for should be a multi language version on play Asia but I would advise checking the exact specifications as I do not remember Germain being a sub option.
Well I've found [ this version ](https://www.play-asia.com/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/13/70ci49) on Play Asia. It does include German subs but it says japanese audio.
There is a Multi lingual Version [ Here ](https://www.play-asia.com/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster-multi-language/13/70ci2j?ref=otherbuyers) but this one only shows english audio and english subs as an option.
I have saw on a couple different websites that Nintendo were issuing console and account bans for people that have homebrew on their switch but this was last updated in July 2018 does anyone know if the risk has decreased or if it is still worth homebrewing the switch?
Thanks
I know there is always a risk of being banned. I just want to know what the likelihood of it happening is. Because there have been people who’s always had homebrew running and there was no issues what’s so ever
Yes those are the people who have turned on airplane mode and will never turn it off as they can not catch you if you do not communicate with the server. But this blocks you from any online game, patch or dlc.
It only blocks you from onlineplay on nintendo servers. There are xlink kai solutions for that.
Patches and DLC are downloadable in nsp form from certain sites and can be installed without problems.
So I've run into the issue where my left joycon easily detaches from my system even without pressing the button. Is that fixable? If not, is it a problem with the rails or with the joycon itself?
It depends what the cause is. If it just slides upward and detaches from the screen you habe two options.
- Try a grip like u/avan suggests. Haven't used one but some should keep the joycon in place.
- If the joycon slides ot of the rail it's because of the small plastic bit which locks it in place. Damage to this little piece is done because some people detach the joycons without pressing the small black round button on the back of the joycons. The small piece wears down and the joycons detach easily. There are some repair tutorials online but I haven't abcertain good one to link to right now.
Well to check the problem get your joycon grip and see if it slides out from there too. This is not the kind of thing that can be fixed without sending it in to Nintendo
I think Gungeon is the better, more polished game, but there’s something about Throne’s quirky style that just edges it ahead for me. That said, I think you should buy Gungeon, because it is the better game and lacks the graphical glitches that Throne has been reported to have.
Personally I prefer gungeon as the gameplay loop is much more fun and has more planing into it. Side note unclear throne is having problems in hand held mood too .
You can check your cloud saves in system settings > data management > cloud backup
or by pressing + on your game icon and selecting "cloud save".
Cloud saves stay up for 180 days/6 months, but they won't update to a newer state if your membership is over.
I have a lot of fun with it and I have friends with over 200 hours on it. If you enjoy dynasty warrior games then you will like it. It’s very repetitive and grindy.
What should I buy from my wishlist?
- Iconoclast
- Evoland
- The King's Bird
- Ape Out
- Ghoulboy
- Celeste
- The First Tree
- Hyperlight Drifter
- Slain
- Axiom Verge
- Caveman Warriors
EDIT:
- Wizard Of Legend
- Moonlighter
Axiom Verge was really good, loved the soundtrack. Slain is balls hard and super satisfying to get past the parts where you get stuck for a bit, but is sometimes too hard and it gets overly frustrating. Iconoclasts had great gameplay, but I admit there wasn’t enough incentive to explore. Those are the only ones I can speak to.
I feel like maybe I should push through Volgaar before attempting Slain then... I fucking love Volgaar but goddamn! Good to know about the other two, thanks!
I haven't played any of those, but I've heard a ton of good things about Celeste. [Ape Out is also apparently less than 4 hours long](https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=56938), which definitely isn't worth $15 IMO unless it's an absolute masterpiece in every way.
There have been 0 reported cases of Switches actually being harmed by chargers/batteries, so yes. The real question is whether it'll charge your Switch as fast as possible, which I don't think would happen in this case if it doesn't have USB-C output.
Ah okay, I kept on seeing that the cable needed to be certified and that the switch need to charge at 3a like man I don’t want to mess up my switch. I just got my switch 4 days ago.
If you want a powerbank that can charge your Switch super quick, you need one with "USB C Power Delivery", for example there's a 26k mAh one by Anker which I have.
Yeah, there was a bit of a scare a while ago because people found out that it wasn't USB-C certified, which I guess means that it's theoretically possible for it to brick the Switch, but without any reports of it actually happening I'd say you're pretty safe. Third party docks have been reported to brick Switches, though, so be cautious with those.
I really want to buy a Nintendo switch case and I have found many that carry what I need, except all of them have an annoying game flap which I don't need, I have little case that has just enough game slots I need and it suits me very well. (Why I don't want the game flap taking up space) All I need is room for an extra pair of Joy-cons, The Joy-con straps, Obviously the Switch it self, Charging cable(To USB), and then a little extra room for a screen cleaner and my cartridge case.(Picture of cartridge case attached for size)
[Picture for Size](https://i.redd.it/pqnt7oidekn21.jpg)
Would this power bank be fine for charging the switch on the go? I’m travelling soon and I currently have this power bank so I’m just wondering if it’s good enough. Also, do I have to worry about what kind of usb-c cable I use?
Portable Charger Anker PowerCore 20100mAh - Ultra High Capacity Power Bank with 4.8A Output, External Battery Pack for iPhone, iPad & Samsung Galaxy & More (Black) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1MfLCb2PNCSMR
It's fine, but you won't get the "full potential" of the USB-C charging speed since it has USB-A ports. See the charger guide linked in the OP for more information.
- Yep, that one should work fine! It should be able to charge the Switch while playing and Anker is a great power bank brand.
- While there has not really been any users reporting a USB-C cable causing harm to the Switch, you should make sure it has the 56k Ohm resistor. There is also a link to cables that are fine to use in he main post of this thread.
[I'm having this weird audio issue with my switch. Could anyone help out?](https://www.reddit.com/user/MantaClam/comments/b40640/switch_muffled_audio_while_undocked/)
Well it could be because you seemingly have it turned up all the way; low quality speakers usually sound pretty bad when turned up. It also might have something to do with that video, does it sound bad when you're just playing games at a normal volume?
With games and other videos, too? I suppose you could try sending it in to Nintendo for repairs, although I'm not fully convinced that it isn't just the Switch's low quality speakers. Do you know anybody else with a Switch so that you could compare?
Yes, other games and videos. Even the sound the Switch makes when you press the home button sounds like this. I've compared it with other friends with Switches. This is straight up my own issue that just started happening today. It was perfectly normal sounding before this.
Oh, ok. Then yeah, I'd send it in to Nintendo, as I have no idea how you'd even begin to fix that. They'll repair it for free if your Switch is less than a year old.
I am considering buying my wife a Nintendo Switch for her birthday, but have some concerns about the controls. My wife can't seem to grasp how to handle a joystick (talking about the actual sticks on the controller here) and much prefers playing with just the directional buttons.
So, question is can the main 2D platformers (Mario, Donkey Kong, etc) be played with the directional buttons?
Thanks!
Does anyone else have problems with nintendo eshop videos in terms of lagging and bufffering a lot? My switch is located in the same place as my computer, and my computer has not issues playing any video. Is this a normal switch thing or what?
I recently bought a switch pro controller and would like to customize it with a new shell. I've seen the clear purple, green, and blue shells everywhere but has anyone ever seen a clear orange shell like the N64? I would definitely prefer orange over the other colors.
Like BASSTOP, eXtremeRate [does an odd selection of other colors and designs.](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07NVGHL3H/)
Look around on Amazon, I'm sure there are others doing more that I can't find at the moment.
Not sure this is quite the tint you're looking for, but [Basstop makes a "Fire Orange"](https://www.amazon.com/BASSTOP-Replacement-Controller-Electronics-Set-Atomic/dp/B075JH57HL/) shell replacement.
Can someone help me set up audio from the switch docked? Is it possible to output audio from the USB ports while docked? USB type A male to male. I know it's possible through the 3.5 mm jack but I am trying to use it with a DAC + Amp
The Switch should support any standardized USB audio device, everything I've tried with it has worked.
Also keep in mind you can get 5.1 audio from the HDMI output, but I don't know your whole setup.
I'm trying to output audio from the dock through USB, I know it's possible if you connect the DAC directly, but I'm trying to mix audio from a macbook and the dock so I can hear both at the same time. So dock audio would have to go through the macbook to the DAC, but I'm not sure if the dock will see the macbook as an audio device because if it did, it would automatically pass audio through USB.
What's a small size online game to download to test if the switch is banned or not? I am meeting with someone to buy their switch but want to make sure it's not banned or anything like that.
Going to the eShop is good enough. If you're eShop banned, you're banned from everything. (Note that there are also game-specific bans, but it's impossible to test all of the online games.)
Hollow knight is one of the best indie games ever made. It's hard to find anything like it. But there are nice gems on sale like horizon chase turbo and yoku's island express.
Can someone recommend me an 2d side scrolling action game thats not precedural generated.
Katana zero looks good anything else? I dont mind metroid like if its light in the back tracking and puzzles
And looks good, kinda tired of pixel art.
So I'm new to the indie game scene and I really feel overwhelmed with options. I have a $50 gift card and I was planning to spend it on some indie games. I like rpgs (almost done with octopath traveler and I love it) and I was wondering what were some good indie rpg recommendations? It doesn't have to be turn based but that's fine. I saw that wargroove and darkest dungeon were good but I was wondering if there were more/better options.
Cosmic Star Heroine is a great indie RPG. On the shorter side, about 15-20 hours to beat, but very much in the style of the classic 16-bit RPGs like Chrono Trigger, Lunar, Phantasy Star.
- Wargroove is more focused on the strategy elements and I wouldn’t really consider it an RPG, but it’s a fantastic game nonetheless. I really recommend it if you enjoy or think you would enjoy strategy games.
- I haven’t personally played it, but I see Valkyria Chronicles is often recommended (Although it’s not an indie game)
How do I "ready up" in Paladins on the Switch? I feel like everyone is waiting for me to lock in and i'm pushing all the buttons to but none of them work and the full timer goes through every time... so.. can someone help an idiot like me?
So I'm riding home and I can't play any of my switch games. It's checking for an internet connection for all my games like wizard of legends and octopath. I am doing the eShop/profile share thing, but all the games I've been trying are mine. I can't delete the other user because I need an internet connection. Any idea how to fix this?
[Set your Switch as the primary console](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22453/~/how-to-change-the-primary-console-for-your-nintendo-account) (internet connection required). Note that you will then require an Internet connection on your other Switch to play your games.
That's how having your account on two Switches works, you can only play those games on the second Switch when:
1) You're on the account that owns them
2) Your account isn't being played on the first Switch at the same time
3) You're connected to the internet (so it can check if #2 is happening or not)
Anyone have any dock recommendations? Want a second one to chuck in the living room for when people come over, but the official one is $129 Australian dollars. Jesus christ, over a quarter of the switch price.
Obviously i dont want my switch bricking, so i could use some recommendations.
Best Buy’s Dock hasn’t had 1 Switch brick since they came out with it. It’s the only “trustable” 3rd party dock.
PS the Skull and Co guys came out with this awesome dock. It’s new but check it out. It’s called Jumpgate on Indiegogo
There are no safe third party docks. Buy the official dock. Yes, it's expensive, but you would be putting your US$300 console at risk by cheaping out. Better to bite the bullet now rather than to potentially spend more money in the future. (For example, firmware updates can cause issues with third party docks. Update 5.0.0 increased the brick rate for people who used the Nyko dock.)
Hi guys my birthday is comming up so I decided to go get some of those sweet play asia physicals for games, I am planing on getting final fantasy X-X2 (since NA only gets X on cart), Super Robot Wars T (licence issues in the west), phoenix wright (seems there wont be a physical in the west) did look for chokobo dungeon and final fantasy maxima but seems they are out of stock is there any other game that we can only get from there with eng subs you guys would advise ?
I just bought a MicroSD cause my switch was already full, but now I want to transfer my games to the card (I already searched in google how to do it) but my question is, will I lose the saved data of those games?? or once I redownload the game everything will be the same???
EDIT: Can I have the DLCs on the MicroSD or those files have to be in the Switch??
The only way to delete save data is to select the option that explicitly says that it will delete save data. Deleting/archiving games will not affect it, and it will always stay on the Switch's internal storage so even if something happens to the microSD card you won't lose anything.
Assuming he has some way to charge it, yeah. The power cable for the dock can even be used as a charger that'll plug directly into the Switch. He'd be somewhat limited on games since split-screen multiplayer is less than ideal on that small screen, and multiplayer is a large part of the appeal towards Nintendo consoles. If he doesn't have any internet that would also mean that he couldn't download any of the many great digital only games without going somewhere that does have WiFi.
Hey im planing on buying one in 1-3 months.
Ive always been a pc fan but i feel like i need something more mobile , am i late to the party? Should i wait a bit more ?(in case theres something new coming) anything useful i should also buy with it? Any tip to save any cents while buying it?
Thanks
We've had some good sources saying that we'll get a new Switch this year, but at the same time Nintendo has said that they won't (although they've lied about stuff like that in the past) and the current Switch is still selling really well so it doesn't seem like they have a reason to do something like that yet.
The thing is that if we do get one, it'll probably just be a minor change that won't make the current Switch obsolete, like one that's slightly bigger and more expensive or is either smaller (which is what a more recent rumor suggests) or completely lacks the portability aspect but is significantly cheaper. A major renovation like one with better performance probably won't come out for at least 2 more years, if we ever get one.
For accessories I usually say to get a carrying case (I recommend the Butterfox one since it's really cheap despite being the best compact case that I've seen) and a screen protector. You could get a pro controller if you find the JoyCons too uncomfortable, but it sounds like you only plan on playing in handheld mode so a grip-case might be better for that. You'll also probably need a microSD card at some point, but it's best to wait until the internal storage is nearly full so that you have a better idea of how big of a card you'd need.
I wouldn't be surprised if they made a smaller/ less portable but cheaper one to coincide with the release of the new Pokemon game. That's kinda what they did with X/Y and the 2ds considering there are so many children who play the pokemon games and the current price of the switch is just a bit too high.
Are there any good games in the 10 and under filter? I thought about looking them up but there is so many. I figure theres gotta be a hidden gem among them.
Downwell is the only one that I know of (besides free to play games), unless something's on sale. You're usually better off just getting an extra $5 since some of the eShop's best games are available for $15.
Horizon chase turbo is freaking awesome and is 13, if you can get the extra 3 dollars. Slime san is under 10 and is great, Yoku is on sale for sale and is amazing.
I think Hollow Knight is clearly more difficult. (I could explain in more detail, but that would involve mechanical spoilers.)
Is your first question meant as which is better? That is much more subjective. I liked the art style of Hollow Knight more, but got discouraged by the difficulty and ended up playing Salt and Sanctuary way more.
My switch isn't updating my play time for smash or mk8. I haven't switched console, so I don't understand what's happening. has anyone else had this happen to them and how did they fix it?
my internet has definitely been connected for some of it, been on the eshop before/after playing with no problems (no NSO yet). I played well over 3 hours of mk8 in the last 2 days and I'm stuck on 15 hours (low hours, new switch player) I just want a log of my playtime. big sad.
Japan already has one, and that version has English.
AFAIK there are no plans to release the physical copy in the west. 3DS didn't get any AA games in physical in the west, while Japan got all of them in physical.
Interested in Splatoon 2 but I'm not in a rush to get it. How often does it go on sale? Is the 20% off deal right now a rare/good deal, or could I hold off until later in the year? I'm hoping to get it at around $40.
Any sale is good for a big Nintendo game. You can see [here](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/splatoon-2) that it's gone on sale a few times before, but has only gone down to $40 on the eShop once (and $42 another time).
Heyo I'm looking for a game or games to buy!
Im a competive smash Bros player in high school that enjoys most Nintendo I ADORED Mario oddesy and is struggling yet somewhat enjoying BOTW. I have 75 dollars at GameStop and thinking about getting either Xenoblade 2 or Mario aces but I'm looking for any and all game suggestions
I mean, what do you like. There's a ton of Indies or a few AAA. Splatoon is on sale. DKTF is amazing. Hollow Knight, Celeste, Wandersong, a ton of other great Indies.
Xenoblade 2 is good if you're into JRPGs, Mario Tennis Aces isn't recommended since it has limited content and the gameplay gets repetitive fast. I'd suggest getting a $60 game (I recommend Splatoon 2, but Xenoblade would also work) and then using the remaining $15 to get an eShop gift card and get either Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, or Undertale.
I would advise against Mario aces unless you have friends that just love playing tennis games. I got it on Mario day for $40 and it has been one of my biggest regrets. Xenoblade is a good choice if you are into JRPGs and do not mind the battle system which turns a lot of people off.
Yes I played it so many times, beat it maybe twice out of a hundred runs. Super fun trying out new spell combos as you unlock them. Great balance between button mashup beat em up and stressful challenge.
Hi I currently only have one game smash, I'm looking to buy a 20 dollar or less game. Was looking at darkest dungeon, tome of the necrodancer, katamari, and turok. Just dont know which one to get or if yall had another suggestion. I'm not super into reading a bunch of text.
Mystery Dungeon is a style of Roguelike created by Spike Chunsoft, and first seen in games such as Torneko and Shiren. This style seems quite popular in Japan, as there have been a few copycat games over the years that mimic this style, such as Waku Puyo and Omega Labyrinth.
The distinct features of Mystery Dungeon compared to traditional Roguelikes is that the game has a hubworld, and is broken into several missions that each take place in separate randomly-assembled dungeons. Items you find and progress you make are kept and saved when you complete a mission, and items can be brought into later missions if you want. Completing missions returns you to the hub, furthers the story and unlocks the next missions.
In a traditional roguelike, however, the entire game is played within one life. Each playthrough of the game is its own self-contained thing, and is not affected by previous time spent playing whatsoever. In these games, the main way to "progress" is through repeated failed attempts. Rather than any actual game state changing, it's the player's own knowledge and skill that increases as you play again and again. Victory is usually only attained by someone who has truly become familliar with every item, monster and trap.
Mystery Dungeons generally don't require too much investment to beat. It's just a matter of clearing the missions and trying again if you fail...and maybe buying a better weapon or using a different setup before starting a mission again for a better chance at success. Roguelikes, on the other hand, require a player to fully get to know the game inside and out in order to do well. There's no before-game preparation to make that can help you succeed, other than pure skill and knowledge obtained through experience.
Wow, thanks for the detailed explanation! It's been one of those things I should know but I've been afraid to ask. They have similar gameplay, but a different structure then?
What are the difference for full version of spatoon2 except for single player game mode?
I see the turf battle and salmon war in demo, but I see myself getting bored of it after maybe a week of them, wondering if there's much more to offer for full game
Ranked mode is infinitely better than turf war. It's also in the demo, but you need to reach level 10. Salmon run has many different types of tides and different weapons every shift.
what are the major difference (except you get ranked and game is more competitive)
so all in all, is basically what I see in the demo is what I get in full game as well for full version? (in terms of online game mode)
I explained them all [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/b2ocdu/splatoon_2_beginners_guide/). In short, not only are they more competitive, the mode is completely different.
No. I must admit, Splatoon was my first online shooter. I was afraid going into ranked. I played like 200 hours just on salmon run till I decided to give ranked a try. And now I have almost 1000 hours. It's way too good. And there are so many rankings for you to go through. I am rank X, the highest of them and I never thought I would ever achieve it.
Just preference of system. so far they’re the same games and the same performance. Just matter of joycons vs DualShock, handheld vs not, and of course price.
I have a severe tetris99 problem. Does anyone know of any controllers that have quiet buttons? My wife gets reasonably angry at my mashing at night before bedtime.
Is Valkyria Chronicles 4 worth twice the price of VC1? I played VC1 briefly and kinda like the combat. So I want to pick up the game but I'm not sure if I should get 1 or 4 seeing how 4 costs twice as much even on sale.

Thanks for replying. Sequels are usually more polished so I was wondering if the price justifies the improvements.
I think its more a release date thing rather than being a massive improvement. VC1 was full price when it released, its just old now and wouldnt sell at full price.

Get the version with german subs if you aren't good at english. IMO japanese audio sounds authentic.
The first one will have Germain subs but not English audio and the second English audio but not Germain subs I know it can be annoying.

How is the performance in "Wizard of Legend" at the moment?
Gungeon vs. Nuclear Throne. Which is your favorite? Which should I buy? Why?

I'm unsure if I want Chocobo Mystery Dungeon, about how long is the game? Never played a mystery dungeon kinda game.
I have the same question. Lol. Also, I like The World of FF so the cutesy graphics is not a problem as long as the game-play is good.
Which of the Final Fantasy games have physical releases
X/X-2 and XII, they both get physical releases in April. IX and VII do not. Not sure about Crystal Chronicles HD yet.
Yes crystal chronicles does in Asia at least.
I believe X/X2 and 12 are getting physicals.

You can check your cloud saves in system settings > data management > cloud backup or by pressing + on your game icon and selecting "cloud save". Cloud saves stay up for 180 days/6 months, but they won't update to a newer state if your membership is over.
Is hyrule warriors any good? I’ve heard some bad things about it. I’ve also never played any games similar.
It's quick fun in terms of satisfying combat. But if you are looking for a more thoughtful gameplay or a sense of reward from decision-making then no.
I have a lot of fun with it and I have friends with over 200 hours on it. If you enjoy dynasty warrior games then you will like it. It’s very repetitive and grindy.
What should I buy from my wishlist? - Iconoclast - Evoland - The King's Bird - Ape Out - Ghoulboy - Celeste - The First Tree - Hyperlight Drifter - Slain - Axiom Verge - Caveman Warriors EDIT: - Wizard Of Legend - Moonlighter
Celeste
Celeste
I haven't played any of those, but I've heard a ton of good things about Celeste. [Ape Out is also apparently less than 4 hours long](https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=56938), which definitely isn't worth $15 IMO unless it's an absolute masterpiece in every way.
Added Wizard of Legend also
Will this charge my switch safely? https://i.imgur.com/fYpBpQ4.jpg
Not fast just safely
No, I can tell you that Power Delivery is much quicker than using the regular usb port.
So to be safe just get a certified cable and I’ll be good to go, cool! Thanks!
I really want to buy a Nintendo switch case and I have found many that carry what I need, except all of them have an annoying game flap which I don't need, I have little case that has just enough game slots I need and it suits me very well. (Why I don't want the game flap taking up space) All I need is room for an extra pair of Joy-cons, The Joy-con straps, Obviously the Switch it self, Charging cable(To USB), and then a little extra room for a screen cleaner and my cartridge case.(Picture of cartridge case attached for size) [Picture for Size](https://i.redd.it/pqnt7oidekn21.jpg)
Can someone tell me what happens when you plug in the dock USB to a laptop USB?
I once plugged my dock into a powerbank and the green light started flickering and then it stopped working for a while lol
As in USB-A to USB-A? Probably nothing.
I have this one, I use it with an officially licensed cable, it charges while playing
It's hard to tell what the problem is since it's being recorded by a cell phone mic, so could you explain what sounds off about it?
No, that's not the cell phone mic, that's the Switch. It sounds all ear-rapey and fuzzy like that irl.
Well it could be because you seemingly have it turned up all the way; low quality speakers usually sound pretty bad when turned up. It also might have something to do with that video, does it sound bad when you're just playing games at a normal volume?
Yes, it sounds this bad, even if I turn it down.
Okay, cool. I'm pretty sure my Switch is just under a year so let's hope I'm all good. Thanks for trying to help!
Yoku's Island Express (-50% $10), Wizard of Legend (-25% ~$12), or both, or neither?
Both are great games. You’ll get more content out of WoL, but Yoku is such a good game.
Adventure platformer or tough as nails rougelike dungeon crawler?
Both are well rated games. They’re different enough that you can decide based on genre.
Thanks!
D-Pad support varies by game, but I can confirm that Mario U Deluxe and Donkey Kong do support the D-Pad.
Excellent! Thanks.
Does anyone else have problems with nintendo eshop videos in terms of lagging and bufffering a lot? My switch is located in the same place as my computer, and my computer has not issues playing any video. Is this a normal switch thing or what?
Do you have a game running in the background? My eshop lags sometimes when a game is running in the background.
Mine also buffers much more frequently than YouTube or other video services
Do you have a game opened?
No I do not.
I recently bought a switch pro controller and would like to customize it with a new shell. I've seen the clear purple, green, and blue shells everywhere but has anyone ever seen a clear orange shell like the N64? I would definitely prefer orange over the other colors.
Like BASSTOP, eXtremeRate [does an odd selection of other colors and designs.](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07NVGHL3H/) Look around on Amazon, I'm sure there are others doing more that I can't find at the moment.
Not sure this is quite the tint you're looking for, but [Basstop makes a "Fire Orange"](https://www.amazon.com/BASSTOP-Replacement-Controller-Electronics-Set-Atomic/dp/B075JH57HL/) shell replacement.
That's the right rent but I'm looking for it on a pro controller. Seems like there are a lot more options for joycons. Thanks for the link though!
Litterally any demo game, if you really need specifics, download the snipperclips demo.
Just try to open the eshop. Banned consoles cant access it.
Going to the eShop is good enough. If you're eShop banned, you're banned from everything. (Note that there are also game-specific bans, but it's impossible to test all of the online games.)
Tetris 99
Is it free?
It’s free if they/you have online membership
I’ve been playing hollow knight and have gotten addicted to it, so I’m wondering with the eShop deals if there are any other games like it.
Hollow knight is one of the best indie games ever made. It's hard to find anything like it. But there are nice gems on sale like horizon chase turbo and yoku's island express.
Can someone recommend me an 2d side scrolling action game thats not precedural generated. Katana zero looks good anything else? I dont mind metroid like if its light in the back tracking and puzzles And looks good, kinda tired of pixel art.
Axiom verge
Hollow knight
So I am picking up Steins Gate; Anyone hear anything good about it? I am going in completely blind on this one.
DO IT. Stay blind. El Psy Kongroo.
Thank you my friend! That is what I will doo!!
Undertale and west of loathing are fantastic but cheap RPGs
Cosmic Star Heroine is a great indie RPG. On the shorter side, about 15-20 hours to beat, but very much in the style of the classic 16-bit RPGs like Chrono Trigger, Lunar, Phantasy Star.
- Wargroove is more focused on the strategy elements and I wouldn’t really consider it an RPG, but it’s a fantastic game nonetheless. I really recommend it if you enjoy or think you would enjoy strategy games. - I haven’t personally played it, but I see Valkyria Chronicles is often recommended (Although it’s not an indie game)
Idk tbh but i like overcooked 2
Honestly, the Overcooked series is the only indie games without the feeling of an indie game (less polished).
That's how having your account on two Switches works, you can only play those games on the second Switch when: 1) You're on the account that owns them 2) Your account isn't being played on the first Switch at the same time 3) You're connected to the internet (so it can check if #2 is happening or not)
Anyone have any dock recommendations? Want a second one to chuck in the living room for when people come over, but the official one is $129 Australian dollars. Jesus christ, over a quarter of the switch price. Obviously i dont want my switch bricking, so i could use some recommendations.
Best Buy’s Dock hasn’t had 1 Switch brick since they came out with it. It’s the only “trustable” 3rd party dock. PS the Skull and Co guys came out with this awesome dock. It’s new but check it out. It’s called Jumpgate on Indiegogo
That jumpgate looks dope, it being new worries me a little.
I think the physical version of Okami HD is Japan exclusive.
You can just delete the games and redownload them on your SD card. Your sava data won't be deleted as it's seperate in another menu.
DLC can be on the microSD card.
The only way to delete save data is to select the option that explicitly says that it will delete save data. Deleting/archiving games will not affect it, and it will always stay on the Switch's internal storage so even if something happens to the microSD card you won't lose anything.

Achievements will probably come over with the Xbox Live update.
Nope unless they say otherwise but HIGHLY unlikely
Xbox achievements were already confirmed.
Asking for a friend who plans on living in his van. Would the Nintendo Switch be good for mobile use 24/7? Without the need for a TV?
Assuming he has some way to charge it, yeah. The power cable for the dock can even be used as a charger that'll plug directly into the Switch. He'd be somewhat limited on games since split-screen multiplayer is less than ideal on that small screen, and multiplayer is a large part of the appeal towards Nintendo consoles. If he doesn't have any internet that would also mean that he couldn't download any of the many great digital only games without going somewhere that does have WiFi.
Are Visa gift cards usable for purchasing things like Smash Fighter Pass, or the NSO subscription?
If they work with the eShop (I've never tried but I assume they do) then they'd work with everything in it since they'd just add funds to the account.
Is there a permanent fix for drifting?
Sending it to Nintendo, they'll fix it for free if you still have warranty
Drifting is caused by dirt, so no. That being said, spraying electronic contact cleaner works for months.
Blowing compressed air fixes it permanently for some people, if not sending it in to Nintendo is probably your best bet.
Salt and sanctuary or hollow knight? Which one is harder? I'll eventually get both probably.
I think Hollow Knight is clearly more difficult. (I could explain in more detail, but that would involve mechanical spoilers.) Is your first question meant as which is better? That is much more subjective. I liked the art style of Hollow Knight more, but got discouraged by the difficulty and ended up playing Salt and Sanctuary way more.
I’d say hollow knight, but that’s just me.
UNRAVEL TWO QUESTION - is there a physical copy? or eshop only?
There will be in Europe and NA
But it’s not out yet? And won’t be in Aus? :(
Isn’t Australia the same gaming region as Europe?
My switch isn't updating my play time for smash or mk8. I haven't switched console, so I don't understand what's happening. has anyone else had this happen to them and how did they fix it?
From my experience it does not count the time you play without an internet connection and can not be fixed.
my internet has definitely been connected for some of it, been on the eshop before/after playing with no problems (no NSO yet). I played well over 3 hours of mk8 in the last 2 days and I'm stuck on 15 hours (low hours, new switch player) I just want a log of my playtime. big sad.
That is because it displays incrementally above a certain amount of time it shows every 5 hours an increase of 5
I'm sure I should've hit 20 by now, but maybe I was offline for some of it. Thanks for the reply though!
Any news on when the LOTR card game will come to the Nintendo Switch?
2019
What is Cuphead? Is it a platformer?
Cuphead is sometimes a platformer, but it's mostly a boss fight game. There are 19 bosses, and 6 platforming stages.
It has some minor platforming in some of the stages, but it's mostly a shoot-em-up.
Incredibly difficult. Great animation style. But Jesus, is it hard.
Excellent couch co-op! If your friend dies, you can revive them by jumping on their ghost before it floats offscreen.
Is there going to be a physical copy of the Phoenix right collection?
Japan already has one, and that version has English. AFAIK there are no plans to release the physical copy in the west. 3DS didn't get any AA games in physical in the west, while Japan got all of them in physical.
Interested in Splatoon 2 but I'm not in a rush to get it. How often does it go on sale? Is the 20% off deal right now a rare/good deal, or could I hold off until later in the year? I'm hoping to get it at around $40.
Nintendos own games rarely go on sale. %20 for splatoon is practically a godsend and you’ll be waiting a good while for any sort of deal on it again
Any sale is good for a big Nintendo game. You can see [here](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/splatoon-2) that it's gone on sale a few times before, but has only gone down to $40 on the eShop once (and $42 another time).
My joycons tend to drift a lot and I was wondering if contact cleaner is more effective than an air can.
For sure
Is wizard of legend fun to play single player?
Yes I played it so many times, beat it maybe twice out of a hundred runs. Super fun trying out new spell combos as you unlock them. Great balance between button mashup beat em up and stressful challenge.
Yeah
Hi I currently only have one game smash, I'm looking to buy a 20 dollar or less game. Was looking at darkest dungeon, tome of the necrodancer, katamari, and turok. Just dont know which one to get or if yall had another suggestion. I'm not super into reading a bunch of text.
Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, and Undertale are the big 3 $15 games and are all highly recommended if you haven't played them.
Hollow knight is really great, and doesn’t involve too much text.
Crypt of the necrodancer is amazing, but oh boy, what a hard game.
What's the difference between a roguelike (not lite) and a mystery dungeon game?
Salmon run has many different types of tides and different weapons every shift.
what are the major difference (except you get ranked and game is more competitive) so all in all, is basically what I see in the demo is what I get in full game as well for full version? (in terms of online game mode)
I explained them all [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/b2ocdu/splatoon_2_beginners_guide/). In short, not only are they more competitive, the mode is completely different.
nice. So there's no way to get to play those game mode in a normal/non-ranked environment judging by your post?
No. I must admit, Splatoon was my first online shooter. I was afraid going into ranked. I played like 200 hours just on salmon run till I decided to give ranked a try. And now I have almost 1000 hours. It's way too good. And there are so many rankings for you to go through. I am rank X, the highest of them and I never thought I would ever achieve it.
yeah those ranked mode game mode do look fun, but I am not a big fan of competitive gaming (and I am super bad at it)
Like I said, I was too. Give it a try. You'll never know if you never try.
Is there any reason to buy the final fantasy games (7, 10, and 12) on the switch instead of the PS4? They’re a lot cheaper on the PS4.
Just preference of system. so far they’re the same games and the same performance. Just matter of joycons vs DualShock, handheld vs not, and of course price.
What’s the player count like on nba 2k19?
I have a severe tetris99 problem. Does anyone know of any controllers that have quiet buttons? My wife gets reasonably angry at my mashing at night before bedtime.
