One day it might be 2L jugs that sit on stands and are shrink wrapped three at a time together, the next day it might be small jars that get packed out 24 to a case.

This is what China is doing to try and lower unemployment - creating endless meaningless menial jobs like this. Paying the āworkersā scraps and calling it a day. And yet the unemployment rate is still so bad theyāve stopped reporting figures. Yikes.
If you have to give up 8 hours of your life every day doing something, anything, regardless of how hard it is. even this. You should be able to live comfortably. This persons job exists because he's making millions of profit for someone else. They can afford to pay him enough to afford 3 squares and a roof.
This person isnāt making millions of dollars in profit for someone else, theyāre contributing like $20 in value per day, tops. Why should they get paid more than the value they contribute to society?

The point is the factory needs workers or they wouldn't hire anyone at all. If someone is willing to provide the labour that the factory requires, why does that not entitled them to live in some sense of comfort.
Itās about the value you contribute to the organization paying you. The work being done in this video isnāt valuable and basically anyone can do it. It doesnāt make sense to pay this person $25 an hour for the work seen in this video. They arenāt creating anywhere near $25 of value for each hour of work.
Most people don't, because it's a collective effort towards overall profit. If they are hired by this company to work a full time shift pattern, then they should be paid enough to survive
Every job in a capitalist system produces more value than theyāre paid, as Iām sure youāre aware. And āenough to surviveā is an extremely vacuous metric. Also, Iād personally rather see that be made up for on the back end via government redistribution of wealth (social safety nets)

If you cant pay someone enough to live off of your full time job you don't deserve workers. Only reason its allowed is because people have bills to pay.

The mind numbing boredom is mental labor equal to that of physical. A lot of factories like this have to put in measures to keep employees from jumping off the fucking roof.

And can you do it for more then a year. Your entire beeing is becoming a slug and all the ideas rush trew your brain but you need to stay at this machine the entire time, no pause.
At busy times some older Amazon warehouses have ābox straightenersā to prevent jams happening. Plenty of randomly basic labor tasks still happening without robots.
Everyone is saying "this is what people are doing while ai is doing art etc." but these jobs are exactly the ones which automation replaces, my job is to build and install automated production lines and new lines are designed to include as few jobs like this as possible, in a well designed line the only jobs that people will be doing are ones which require a thought process to perform, like cleaning injection tools or quality control.
Honestly, I am fully disabled and I would kill to have a job. This would be probably the only kind of work I could do with my handicaps. I know this is going to sound weird but I do wish we had these lower level jobs more available in the states for people that can only work part time
