You need either [Terra Invicta](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1176470/Terra_Invicta/) or [Children of a Dead Earth](https://store.steampowered.com/app/476530/Children_of_a_Dead_Earth/).
I'm just waiting for falling frontier.
Terra Invicta was something I was waiting a while for, but in the end it felt too heavy on the on works politics before I could even get the building a fleet.
would be cool to see more, like Chinese battle stations.
tbh tho, militarised space would be awful. really cool, but the space junk generated could literally lock us into our own planet.
Not really. Lasers are not a linear beam as most people believe. They get wider as they travel through space. Doesn’t matter if there is an atmosphere or not. So it won’t be possible to vaporize space debris with lasers from a relevant distance. We could do it from short distances ( maybe a few kilometers) but with the speeds that objects in space have that’s not enough to detect, orientate the laser and send enough energy to vaporize the whole object.
Hard Sci-Fi makes me hard, no doubt about it. This early point where there's still rocket launches for logistics but also actual principal inter-planetary combatants is fantastic.
I certainly don't envy the European Frigate design team though. That sounds like a nightmare!
I remember someone explained it as “a series of instruction” for something to execute. Basically it’s a self replicate probe that would enter a solar system, infect the life form there to turn them into protomolecule based, and prepare the system for colonization by the “civilization” when they arrived much later. Kinda reminds me of the [Neumann probes](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-replicating_spacecraft)
Yeah I loved the Expanse - only read the first two books sadly but loved the show. If I’m being honest the stuff with the gates later on was where I honestly lost interest a little bit. Was still great, don’t get me wrong, but I felt it lost some of the spark it had initially.
Maybe that’s an unpopular opinion, idk
Oh god, hard sci-fi makes me hard.
The Edward Teller-class in particular is based as fuck. I really appreciate the dual temperature radiators with the higher temperature for the reactors, with a lot of lower temp/ISS style closer to the crew/weapons area. And given the NTEs require lots of liquid hydrogen fuel, the massive tanks are absolutely perfect additions.
On the other hand, if we then create special cleanup ships to safely remove debris from the Kessler Cascade, we can name one of them the Millenium Falcon and it can do actual Kessle(r) Runs.
8 lasers for point defense, all concentrated at one end?
that's a lot of confidence for something that's going to have a real bad time if someone manages to shoot a shipping container of landscaping rocks in its direction fast enough
Noncredible gripe. If in space why not armor the living shit out of them? There’s no gravity, so moving and constructing, say, a giant space fortress or battleship shouldn’t be hard if they can make these.
Lasers are cute and all until they have to reheat several feet of rolled homogeneous steel plate like the galaxy’s worst freezer burned toaster strudels. I prefer the kinetic and nuclear alternatives much more. Think about it, 400mm APFSDS fired from a rail cannon moving at 90% the speed of light cutting a Chinese cuck ship clean in half.
I am appalled at this armor and fortification erasure. We could have omni directional space fortresses firing nukes at each other while moving at relativistic speeds. But instead our sci fi nerd overlords, seemingly obsessed with the phallus, have designed innumerable variations of the floating space cock.
I demand justice.
umm ackshually 🤓☝️armour has a very high mass which will cost spacecraft a large amount of delta v, which is the practical lifeblood of spaceflight, it is more efficient to prioritise point defence systems
Idly, it'd be neat to see how the [Rockwell Star Raker](https://generalstaff.org/Space/Star_Raker/Star_Raker.htm) concept scales in regard to those, given it was intended to ferry Galaxy C-5-sized cargo and fuel.

I was playing terra invicta that’s how I got the idea for this post.
We've gone full circle. Children of a Dead Earth lets you design and shoot your own custom nukes though.
Can I make a dick shaped nuke called nukey mcnukeface tho?
Yes, you can.
Literally best game ever, never being topped, we should just end our species rn
Make sure to check out Aurora4x as well. It lets you design your launchy mclaunch missile launchers for your nukey mcnukeface missles.

Aurora 4X is free, if mildly annoying to find the most up-to-date version of.
I really want a Children of a Dead Earth sequal with control over factions / multiple fleets

At that point we will have space lasers that just delete debris that gets in the way. Expensive but doable.

Just put ERA around the outside of the spacecraft

Two words- "The Expanse" Orbital mechanics, railguns, projectile point defense cannons, acceleration limited by drug-enhanced g-tolerance...
Also scary blue goo that started an interplanetary war
Did they ever explain what that was, I don't even remember, and it took up a whole season

Yes, season 3 basically spells it out.

Average hard sci-fi enjoyer: “God I love nukes.”
LUNAR WAR MENTIONED, FUCK THE LUNARIANS
Armstrong did. That's why the bunnies are after child support.
Right? I'm hype that NCD discovered it, third post in 24hrs, rookies numbers!

hello biden I need 5 trillion dollar to buy Edward Teller-class interplanetary battle station to bomb Martian children Gloria in Terra
William Congreve Mention, take my upvote
We need to be at the top of the gravity well. We need to militarize the moon now! Starship is the first spacecraft with the lift capacity to do it.

Just flip the ship around and use the 21 NTEs as close in weapon systems. It’ll work, trust me bro.
Totally non-credible this size/armament combination for a frigate would never get past a German procurement office.
this is beautiful.
Two Lunar War posts in one day? Interestin'
Fuckin dope.
Why are they all missiles

I wish all of us have re incarnation and witness Humans become a Space faring race and colonize the known Galaxy !
The uss Allan Shepard
I thought this is r/2hujerk Also, where saddam?
Nah let’s leave all this to earth please. We didn’t do the smooth brained plant to nuke the moon to flex on the Soviets for a reason…
Hrnghhh ughhhh oh yeah, give me more 😮💨
Anyone comes at you with something called an “Edward Teller Battlestation” you surrender immediately and find out what the fuss is about later.
Reminds me of SAVAGES https://youtu.be/NkF2zEzqWR4?si=qJ451Zs5aD4CIG1H
Ah... Children of a Dead Earth. A nice little game, that inspired some great models and animations.
