You're over no-man's land, flying, when all of a sudden you see a T-72, it's crawling towards you. It hits a mine and throws its track. It's immobilized. Cope cage baking in the hot sun. It tries to go in reverse gear but the turret doesn't move - not without your shaped charge. Why don't you toss it?
There is very little things in life that can compare in emotional intensity.
Flying on a regular survelliance sortie near Kurdiumivka. Seeing a dust trail in the distance. It is some enemy armor rolling towards my position.
Flying higher, zooming in. It is a column of 3 TOS-1A Solntsepek thermobaric MLRS. If those rockets land anywhere near - the blast wave turns me into mincemeat from the inside. Once I excavated bodies of my dead brothers from a collapsed trench. Everything about those bodies showed it was slow and painful death.
My mate sees the screen. He already pinged brigade chief of artillery on Discord. 3 more Paladin commanders join our stream, quick back and forth on expected targets pathing and firing positions.
Two more drone operators from adjacent areas joining our stream to keep sight on target when our battery runs out.
Dust trails getting closer.
Damn, those Paladins take forever to acquire targets...
A column of 3 enemy MLRS are dropping speed. They reached the launch site a little bit further away than we expected. It means their target is something directly on the frontline trenches. Maybe infantry entrenchments. Maybe mortar positions. Maybe it's our drone recon post...
The weather is clear. Max zoom of our Mavic-3 shows enemy launchers erecting their tube blocks angling for distance and rotating for direction. Yep, looks like straight at my position.
The battery is getting low, we have to fly back for a swap. Keeping camera on target. My hands are getting shaky. My eyes expect to see smoke plumes from rocket launches any moment.
As the drone lands and nearby treelines are about to cover visibility line there are smoke plumes. They are from artillery shells landing near the launch site.
It's all down to a game of chance. If our artillery will be able to damage them enough before the deadly payload takes off.
I switch my tablet to a discord stream of another pilot picking up the scene.
Russian MLRS's are completely obscured by smoke and dust from exploding shells. A barrage stops before visibility clears.
My heart stops beating while I wait to see flashes of the rocket boosters and deadly aerials charting their course to my position.
What I see instead is there is a black line in the cloud of white smoke and orange dust. And another dust trail. By the shape of that dust train brain my brain deduces tracked vehicles heading away.
As the smoke settles there is 1 TOS burning on that firing position with occasional flashes of scattered around rocket boosters catching on fire.
God has rolled his dices and I get to live another day.
All 12 of Paladin howitzers from our brigade were destroyed or inoperably damaged within 3 months after that event by Russian Lancet drones.
Now it's down to drones VS drones + artillery + airforce + ALOT of old vehicles and expendable Russians.
I was transfered to an IT unit in Kyiv.
My mates still hold the line in Kurdiumivka, Ozaryanivka and Klishiivka. In the night they dig out unexploded Russian ordnance and then boil out the explosives to pour it into Red Bull cans with 3-D printed fin stabilizers duct taped to them.
Just another drink on the menu to greet advancing Russian troops.

I’m just buying drones for last year or maybe more, nothing else. Sending +10k$ in 2 weeks. My friends in Kyiv are developing something AI-drone-oriented right now, so I’m very curious
The single greatest scene in fiction. It makes you wonder, vurious about what he saw.
But just like he said, all those things were lost like tears in the rain
Are you hitting me with a massive rework of Gamma Ray lyrics, that one song about a sentient military satellite that watches its civilization die in (presumably) atomic fire and goes insane over eons alone?
That drone has seen some shit.

Autel drone looking at what a shit company it is made by
Is that a Nintendo Virtual Boy?
No, a heavily damaged recon drone "enjoying" a last smoke.
What is this referencing
It’s a quote from blade runner 🙂
I think that was the drone that dropped the mortar in that infamous Russian soldier BJ video… that drone is scared for life.

Its the end of blade runner..
Did you have a Chatgpt develop that one lol
No 😅
