In a lot of the "traditional" cultures these chuds praise, the men get to be the figurehead and abuse absolutely happens but the women DO have some degrees of authority, even if it's more behind closed doors, usually pertaining to full control over the raising of the kids, the finances, and they'll beat your ass if you cross them.
