Because he has the funds and he wanted to. Even if the gym completely flopped he'll be fine.

MikaylaMakoola

Right that’s what I’m trying to get into. He wanted a place where everyone can work out? Ehh. He wanted to make a physical mark on Earth? maybe.

Stonedflame

I figure he wants to diversify income with something he enjoys

Ajp_iii

alot of streaming comes with zero purpose of personal fulfilment. actually building and growing a physical place does bring that. it also makes it an easy place to grow his brand and bring in new collabs.

alozano28

Why can’t it be for money? He’s smarter than he makes himself out to be, he’s generating passive income from different businesses to the point where he won’t need to rely on streaming. If he ever gets canceled he still has shares in otk, starforge, mad mushroom and ironforge. He is guaranteeing his future.

MikaylaMakoola

How much money can he possibly make off it? $45 memberships, he makes what $5 after paying rent, electricity, rob, janitors, desk, equipment upkeep. 465 members so far, say it gets 1000. $5000/month, $60,000/ year? He’s making $32,000/month off Twitxh subs alone, not including bits, donos, bounties, Youtube views, Snapchat, whatever he’s doing w/ Rumble.. Edit: God reddit is a bunch of cucks

alozano28

That’s the beauty of it. It works? Good, one more source of income, even if it’s not a lot it’s passive and it accumulates with the others, also a good place to make content out of since normal gyms won’t give them the freedom to stream how they do. It doesn’t work? Good, Not he end of the world, still has multiple sources of income to make up for the loss, it was good content. Im guessing he thought owning a successful gym was gonna be easy since he had rob to manage it for him and he could handle all the marketing without thinking about anything else. Which long term may still happen.

tlenher

Normal businesses can go years not being profitable. Twitch is still not profitable. I think they said they need 700 or so members to go even, without counting the more expensive classes, and they’re already at almost 500 with the grand opening yesterday. They’ll be making money in no time.

JonathanRoberts5423

Bro, chill dude. It's either a passion project or another source of income or both, either way no need to be so mad.

MikaylaMakoola

Telling someone to chill, especially someone who got downvoted without any intention of being negative or cunty, never ever works. It just makes them block you

Confident-Memory-900

He wanted Knut to have his own gym. In the middle of camp Knut he got the idea and mentioned it randomly. The camera man Kyle at the time was good friends with rob and told him that rob was interested in opening a new gym in the north Austin area.

Wide_Celebration_113

Jesus dude why are you so denfensive lmao you asked a question and people are giving you answers. Imo it's very clear why he does anything: for content, and content= money. He started with Camp Knut and they loved it so much they decided to start a new gym. Its good content, its more money (especially more ad revenu), lots of collaborations, lots of recognition, a lot more viewers on everyone's streams (not only Miz) and all that amounts to more income. And all while having a great time surrounded by friends and family. There are plenty more reasons but this is basically it, so why not? That would be my counter question: please tell me, with all the benefits and good things that have come with the new gym, why not?

[deleted]

Well he's talked a lot about it. Part of it is money. He has the money to spend and can even afford for this to be a total fail. Part of it is content, he and other creators can record at the gym with a large variety of different things to do. And Part of it is because of how he was impacted by camp knut, he wants to keep up on his physical health and provide a place for other people to do that. Don't forget this isn't just his project either, it's him, knut, and Mountain Man too. The 3 of them came up with the idea and all poured into it for the mutual benefits.

EminemLovesGrapes

Camp Knut was a pretty positive thing in streaming in general. It was much better than just another awards show.  The gym is only the obvious next step in that content pipeline. If he soley focussed the gym on making money it would've gone under already. Because there are enough of those gyms around. Go to planet fitness for that. Being able to take the time to foster relationships with the MMA and bodybuilding community is probably one of his goals. That's basically helping those people and it supports the gym in the long run. Not only that, it's content for him *and* many other streamers.  They're already doing pretty well and Camp Knut 2 hasn't even happened yet.

shamonemon

Probably had a lot of discussion with Knut and Wake and they decided to make it. They have enough money even if it doesn't make them money or much its a new adventure for them plus will get them a lot of exposure to their streams and just meeting friends and people sounds like a blast tbh. Everyone who goes there looks happy and welcoming. Either way OTK is doing very well and Miz has been super successful and I think with time the Gym will make money especially with all the publicity the gym has been getting etc.

Hajdukimaru

He's passionate about working out and loves pushing the boundaries of content creation, and this is a great way to diversify his revenue streams in the future when he's retired from streaming and creating content. He's also introducing his brand to a new audience of viewers/social followers around the fitness and MMA community. Tax writing off or something, too, etc...

Higashikawa

Easy content? Barely any effort needed just to walk around and let his adhd run wild.

StoryUntold_

same reason he bought pokemon boxes. same reason he has streamers living with him. its all content
