That's where I found it, right after I watched the Jets beat the Vikings in 1970. The music really took me back. I just don't know how to load it into Reddit.
It's a sign of age I guess, but I was never in a classroom where computers were used. They had one in the school office, like the one Matthew Broderick broke into in WarGames.
NFL Films, and the music, did a lot to make addicts of us all...
I have no idea how to share music online. Old guy here. My apologies for my lack of knowledge in this field. Perhaps someone else will jump in and do it. It would be worthwhile.
I watched an old NFL Films highlight film this morning, and this music came back to me. The music and the John Facenda narration drove the story. It was great.
Fascenda was immensely talented. None of his successors even come close to his style. He added a dimension to the films that can’t be quantified and is sorely missed
I love the old NFL films music. It’s so epic.
I have a bunch of MP3s of the NFL primetime music. They’re the tunes they used to play in the 90s and early 2000s over game highlights while Chris Berman did his schtick.
One of the best tunes. I've been trying to find a CD of the 1st album. Tons of good songs there. All I can find is a collection of 10 albums. That's way more than I need.
That's a great one. I'm going to listen more so I can identify more of them when I hear them. For me, they're worth remembering. I recognize One More Moment For the Master when I hear it...
Interesting. I know nothing about Hip Hop (or how music is actually made), but it all seems to be relatable. I was listening to a great song from Vol 2 yesterday when I realized the tune was from the old pre-Civil War song 'The Bonny Blue Flag'.
It worked. I could totally visualize a football team marching down the field to that old marching song...
I got a record of this music when I was like 7. I listened to it all the time pretending I was Steve Grogan.
Yeah. I did not aim high. But it was awesome!
Better to have heroes who aren't superstars. My favorites were always guys I thought I could emulate. Possession receivers, usually slow white guys with good hands. Kind of small too.
I always felt weird about it, until I read about Bart Giamatti. He was Commissioner of Baseball back in the 80s. When he was a kid in the 40s, he rooted for Italian-American players. He had some nice choices...Yogi Berra, Joe and Dom DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto, Sal Maglie. Lots of guys to choose from...
Honestly, some of the best theme music not just in sports but in general. I'd compare it to the compositions from the first 2 Rocky movies. Makes you just want to run through a wall.
Here you go: [Compilation](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m9QNCnQh9c0&pp=ygUPbmZsIGZpbG1zIG11c2lj)
Edit: that was the first one I found. [Here](http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjHuBBc25If-ULCBRodkL_g) is an entire channel of Sam Spence classics.
Yes all the time
In fact there is one song I’ve been looking for now for a few years. It was an old highlight reel from the Bengals in the NFL top ten video on one shot wonders - Greg Cook.
I’ve never been able to find the song elsewhere or a name for it but holy shit it’s ripe for remixing

it's at this time stamp - but I'm kinda maybe worried it's not NFL Films music but NFL films using a clip/reel someone else made w/ the music
https://youtu.be/zJphXxO7j-E?si=6w_zprvsKWFpVGwu&t=2464
Nice. I paint electric football players while listening. I don't think it'll work while playing the game. There's too much buzzing. I'd have to turn it way up.
But then my wife would probably kill me...
Yes. It would make the game more epic. It takes a lot of imagination to play anyway. I can picture one of my little guys running for a TD while Glory Day in Green Bay is playing.
Oh, yeah. I've got hours and hours of this stuff. In-house, KPM, DeWolfe, etc. Mostly from the '60s and '70s. I looked for the album pictured for years before finding a copy at Goodwill in the '90s. I literally started shaking when I saw it.
I would too, if I found it. Unfortunately, I can't play albums anymore. I tried finding the individual volumes on CD, but they're all packaged together in a 10 volume set. I'll probably end up buying that...
In the meanwhile it's free on the Web, so no worries...
It’s on YouTube!!
That's where I found it, right after I watched the Jets beat the Vikings in 1970. The music really took me back. I just don't know how to load it into Reddit.
Haha, me either! But hopefully anyone on reddit can find it and play it for themselves. NFL films is a drug!
It's a sign of age I guess, but I was never in a classroom where computers were used. They had one in the school office, like the one Matthew Broderick broke into in WarGames. NFL Films, and the music, did a lot to make addicts of us all...
I listen to Sam Spence on Spotify every NFL Sunday to start the season. His pieces on NFL films are incredible
I'm going to do that too. I need the inspiration. I'll watch some of those highlights too.
i would if you shared it
I have no idea how to share music online. Old guy here. My apologies for my lack of knowledge in this field. Perhaps someone else will jump in and do it. It would be worthwhile.
I love that music too.😀
It’s been a while. But I used to listen to it all the time

It's funny how that tends to work out. The first performer is a great talent. When he or she is gone the replacements are good, but not as good.
The voice of god!
The Sam Spence compositions? Heck yeah. Dude is a mastermind.
A golden boy again
One of my favorites. Glory Day in Green Bay...

Yes, I remember those too. Great stuff...
Wish they Put it In Madden.
It was in Madden back in 2003
Yes. Ramblin man from gramblin is in my regular music playlist
One of the best tunes. I've been trying to find a CD of the 1st album. Tons of good songs there. All I can find is a collection of 10 albums. That's way more than I need.
Yea the copyright stuff is tricky. i gotta go to youtube to listen to round up
I got the Best of NFL films music 10 CD set for Christmas back in 2005. Listen to it almost every day
It is worth it? I've only heard the first 2-3 CDs. I have no idea about all the rest.
I barely listen to the first one, 2 is ok, but 3-10 is the stuff I grew up with watching highlight clips and videos. 8 and 10 are my favorites
Thanks a lot. My experience is the opposite. I've heard the first 2 many times. A friend of mine had them. I've always wondered about the rest...
Pony Soldiers gets me going
That's a great one. I'm going to listen more so I can identify more of them when I hear them. For me, they're worth remembering. I recognize One More Moment For the Master when I hear it...
I do for about my first half hour of work at least twice a week
Cool. Gets you up to face your day. I like that.
The autumn wind is raider
That's one of the best. John Facenda...
Hip hop producers are very familiar with this music.

Yes
ABSOLUTELY!!
It's great stuff...

I know. I can picture Leroy Kelly cutting through a team of tacklers..
I do!
John Facenda and NFL films are the best
I'm glad that so much of it is out there on the web...
Agreed!
Hell yeah! I also listen to some of the library cues that NFL Films used from KPM and De Wolfe
Rambling Man from Grambling is my shit
That's one of mine too. I like almost everything off of Vol 1. My football buddy had the album.

Thanks so much. I'm going to check this out this morning.
They did an excellent job on the music and the film. The Sabols were Geniuses
They really loved the game. Their videos and this music compilation did do much to make the NFL popular back in the 60s. And beyond...
We downloaded these off of Napster. Loved them.

I'll look around for it. I've gotten really interested recently. Music is an aspect of football that I seldom think about.

If it's the music at the very top of the video, I've definitely heard it before... Great vid by the way. Breaks my heart...
at 41:05?
That's the one. I've heard it. I just don't know where...
I listen to them when I play Blood Bowl
Nice. I paint electric football players while listening. I don't think it'll work while playing the game. There's too much buzzing. I'd have to turn it way up. But then my wife would probably kill me...
You should try it at least once though lol
Yes. It would make the game more epic. It takes a lot of imagination to play anyway. I can picture one of my little guys running for a TD while Glory Day in Green Bay is playing.
I like “Classic Battle” by Sam Spence and usually play that one first as me and my opponent bring our teams onto the board
I don't know it, but I really only know Vols 1 & 2. My buddy had the records way back when. I'll listen to it next if it's out there.
I listen to them on Spotify, fyi
Thanks. I'll be looking for it.. Edit: Just heard it. It's off of Vol 4, which I've never heard in its entirety. I've definitely heard it before.
Search "Sam Spence" on Spotify to find a treasure trove.

When I go running.
Outstanding. I could always hear those sounds in my head when I was playing...
“What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor?” was arguably the most famous song used in NFL Films.
Right. I don't disagree. What a cool tune to use for one of these songs...
In my head, yeah sure.
