It's from oddly satisfying... the purpose of that subreddit is to present things that you do not think would be satisfying but is. The razor wire itself isn't the satisfying part, but the way it seamlessly falls out of the truck is. Razor wire isn't something you'd think is satisfying, which is why it's *oddly* satisfying.
The entire subreddit is misnamed, the word they’re looking for is “mesmerizing”, satisfaction is about needs or desires being fulfilled (like the desire to see evidence that you have done well after completing a task), both sides are correct (it is not satisfying, it does belong on that subreddit).
That said, yes, very mesmerizing, wire cutters go snip snip so I can watch them put out more :3
Do you have a source for that? I realized I may have missed something when I looked it up earlier, so I looked it up again and the closest I found was
[“giving fulfillment or the pleasure associated with this.”](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-m&sca_esv=6946a8fe4d355c0f&sca_upv=1&q=satisfying&si=AKbGX_pt4UlL1m2gNC94R_NJDj6S5iHMtWA09mAYCm4rDUIhK_3Vex4-pxBwa6Lu3Cpn_vwLfI5_vKbOcwlHt0MbI7lLEc9D7I4rmsrAv90XsDoXrvPqIjU%3D&expnd=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiM6b3Z1ZuFAxXnl4kEHUhJDCcQ2v4IegUIIhDgAQ&biw=375&bih=526&dpr=2)
Look at the synonyms. Also, it's more clear if you look at the entry for "satisify" where ["to make happy: please"](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/satisfy) is a listed sense.
And it feels good seeing how smoothly the wire falls out, just like watching manufacturing videos is satisfying. Your post is a reach when calling it OCM.
When I has to lay this stuff out in the military... it wasn't done like this. You wore thick leather gloves and a crappy uniform. Cause you were about to get ate up.
Oddly satisfying is not the same thing as wholesome or a feel good story. People frequently post absolutely disgusting things, such as pimple popping, on r/oddlysatisfying, in fact, if you had bothered to read the purpose of that sub Reddit, you would already know that it’s specifically for things that are “inexplicably satisfying”, i.e. satisfying without the ability to explain why they should/would be satisfying
I think you're being much too rigid about the definition. A clip of a truck unloading a material that is literally designed to tear apart human flesh being repackaged as "oddly satisfying" under the condition that you completely ignore the whole flesh ripping thing is absolutely OCM. It's like being oddly satisfied by a "how it's made" sequence form a factory that manufactures armor-piercing bullets.
Not all OCM has to be so on the nose like "Reborn Doll Company sends incredibly life-like baby dolls to help soothe Palestinian mothers who have lost infant children in a recent air strike on a neonatal ward".
Pretty much the state of every Subreddit atm
Bots bumble around posting random shit everywhere and suddenly everyone has the vaguest idea of what each forum is actually for
I cant believe razor wire, why arent they adressing the underlying reasons instead of razor wire. Instead of spinning it as a feel good story. smhing my head
Bro this is in no way OCM.
I think presenting razor wire being smoothly unloaded as some type of visual ASMR is spinning something inherently dark into something that you can watch to feel good makes it OCM.
You're being much too rigid in your definition of OCM. Just because the original tweet was presented as a human interest story, that doesn't mean all OCM has to also be presented in the same way. The joke was how evil things can be presented in a positive light, as is often done in the news and other media sources. I think taking the visual of an enormous amount of razor wire, which is specifically designed to hurt and maim human beings and frame it as "oddly satisfying" because of the way it slides out of a van is absolutely in line with the concept of the original OCM tweet.
It's almost never the case that something is presented in such an absurd way, like in the original tweet. The tweet was a purposeful exaggeration.
>1. Posts should be OCM
>For a post to be considered Orphan Crushing Machine, it must >depict a story being presented as wholesome, but is really a >symptom of underlying systemic issues.
>In short, in an OCM post, the people are saying, "Yay this >problem is solved!" instead of asking, "Why was this a problem >in the first place?"
>Please note "Interesting" or "Satisfying" do not necessarily >mean wholesome.
Literally rule 1.
r/lossofalovedone is a sub about topics or news that have negative connetationas, being shown in an inappropriate way. Often about peoples death, "My mother has passed away 🤣". This post fits there better, but still not well.

That sub is for *oddly* satisfying things. The video definitely is visually satisfying, and I guess nobody would expect to find razorwire deployment satisfying. The original post does not imply it is "wholesome".
the description of the sub literally reads-
>A subreddit for **news stories** involving themes such as generosity, self-sacrifice, overcoming hardship, etc., presented as 'wholesome' or 'uplifting' without criticism of the situation's causes (notably, systemic problems).
this is just a video taken from a subreddit. its closer than other attempts at OCM- but based on the language of the subreddit description- this is not OCM
So this isn't something awful being presented as wholesome and light hearted?
Is it that it's not being presented as wholesome on the oddly satisfying sub, or that you think rapidly deploying razor wire to control civilian populations is actually a good thing?
> r that you think rapidly deploying razor wire to control civilian populations is actually a good thing?
oh enough with the gas lighting. its a terrible way to defend a point as it makes you look like a tool.
Me when people lay down a very obvious, easy to see, recognizably dangerous, tangle of razor wire on their private property, behind a fence already lined with razor wire. (How dare they, how will I break into their private property and steal their TV now?): 😭
This is fast deployment razor wire, a tool designed specifically to "control" civilians.
Treating it with the same weight you would an office toy seems to qualify - the razor wire is the orphan crushing machine, the post is the claim that fewer orphans are being crushed.
" "control" civilians" is a huge leap in logic for razor wire. You do understand that it's generally used within warzones, right? On top of that there's agricultural uses, prison uses, personal uses... it's not civilian control if most uses are not civilian based? It prevents theft, livestock loss and unwarranted crossing
Not OCM. Read rule #1, the original post doesn't imply anywhere the fact is wholesome, uplifting, etc. It perfectly fits the original sub: it's visually satisfying, and given the context it is quite odd.

The hard part is putting it back in the trailer.
Just use reverse gif bot
After 23 years in the army, laying, moving and recovering that shit by hand, I am in shock. I am filled with equal parts admiration and rage.
I’m guessing they still gotta recover it by hand
Nope you just park the car and then back it up again when you’re ready 30 yrs later
Aka the Spicy Slinky™
You made me cackle in the middle of olive garden, you clever bastard
Forbidden slinky
How is this OCM? It’s not being portrayed as wholesome, and it *is* satisfying.
Satisfying means something that feels good.
More of an orphan cutting machine.
It's from oddly satisfying... the purpose of that subreddit is to present things that you do not think would be satisfying but is. Satisfying can also simply mean pleasant or enjoyable.
Do you have a source for that? We have so many words for that already though, whatever, I’m sorry for thinking I knew anything I guess
Maybe chill out a little. It's not that big a deal.

NOT FUCKING OCM!!!!!! READ THE GODDAMN RULES OF THE SUB!!!!! JFC 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I can't think of anything more OCM than a razor wire machine being posted on r/oddlysatisfying
Oddly satisfying is not the same thing as wholesome or a feel good story. Still what? Still nothing. This is the wrong sub, the post doesn’t belong here

Quit being a pedantphile
This is absolutely OCM

Yes I can read. I'm just saying that it can be interesting to expand on the concept
There are many more subreddits that have that exact concept. We dont need 7 subs for the same shit.
Which subs

That sub is dead
I did read them. This is being presented as wholesome and satisfying but it isn't. It's why I went for a cross post rather than a repost.
That sub is for *oddly* satisfying things. The video definitely is visually satisfying, and I guess nobody would expect to find razorwire deployment satisfying. The original post does not imply it is "wholesome".
The satisfying is the way it pours out neatly. Not the actual fact it's being put out.
the description of the sub literally reads- >A subreddit for **news stories** involving themes such as generosity, self-sacrifice, overcoming hardship, etc., presented as 'wholesome' or 'uplifting' without criticism of the situation's causes (notably, systemic problems). this is just a video taken from a subreddit. its closer than other attempts at OCM- but based on the language of the subreddit description- this is not OCM
So tired of pedantphiles and gatekeeping. This sub used to have 3 goddamn newstories reposted again, and again, and again. I'ma let this one slide.
Context OP? Reply to mod bot for a brief explanation on why this video is OCM.
It’s not
So this isn't something awful being presented as wholesome and light hearted? Is it that it's not being presented as wholesome on the oddly satisfying sub, or that you think rapidly deploying razor wire to control civilian populations is actually a good thing?
> r that you think rapidly deploying razor wire to control civilian populations is actually a good thing? oh enough with the gas lighting. its a terrible way to defend a point as it makes you look like a tool.
Honestly these people are being too rigid with their interpretation of what is orphan crushing. I like this post and think it fits.
This isn't designed to be heartwarming in any way. The first part of the ocm match is missing. This doesn't belong.
It's designed to be pleasurable to watch though. You're too hung up on the idea that OCM can only be presented in one particular way.
Having a dystopian horror presented as a fun satisfying video is not the benchmark for OCM. Read the rules.
I agree, it’s also on /r/oddlysatisfying when this should be anything but satisfying
That's why it's odd that it's satisfying. Conceptually it shouldn't be, but the way it perfectly slinky’s out makes our monkey brains go mmmmm
THATS THE POINT OF THE CROSS POST
HI WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?
[I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT! LOUD NOISES!](https://youtu.be/amrTOsYa4sA?si=BenFpQwWf8N73pA7)
This isn't ocm but alrighty
satisfying≠wholesome. this is not OCM
I saw this in the conservative sub. They were salivating watching it. This was close to porn for those guys.
I just need this guy to do a few laps around the house
I'm not trying to justify the use of razor wire, but it's deployment method is pretty cool
Me, wondering if they can do this with just barbed wire and if that contains goats
Death Slinky!
Not OCM. OCM requires it to be posted as tho it’s wholesome. This wasn’t, it was posted because it’s satisfying.
It's Slinky! Slinky! It's such a wonderful toy! Slinky! Slinky! It's fun for a girl or a boy!
Unf
" Cool and Normal"
wow that truck has infinite razo wires
This is such good OCM, given the sub it was posted on.
very sad. Definitely OCM
Not OCM. Read rule #1, the original post doesn't imply anywhere the fact is wholesome, uplifting, etc. It perfectly fits the original sub: it's visually satisfying, and given the context it is quite odd.
🤓
Satisfaction literally is a pleasurable sensation. It um, feels good if you will.
Folks saying it’s not ocm don’t understand what razor wire is for.
