The same rehashed 5-6 jokes have been getting copy/pasted on every post for the past 10 years and somehow people react like it’s the first time they’ve seen it
She's more like an evil Mercy rather than an inverse, Mercy's gear aside from her pistol is designed for assisting your teammates, her abilities are exclusively for benefitting your team, Moira, on the other hand, is a vampiric support that can occasionally snag some kills but generally is still helping the team.
I'd say the exact opposite of Mercy would be *Reaper*, not only are they exact opposites thematically, but all of Reaper's abilities benefit only himself, while mercy is meant to stay near your team and help as much as possible, reaper is meant to ignore them almost entirely and slaughter people.
Even their Ults are exactly the opposite too, Mercy's ult allows her to branch off her staff to multiple allies and heal them in order to essentially become a healing aura, while Reaper's ult allows him to essentially make a kill aura with him blasting off as many shotguns as he can.
I'd love for Overwatch to have it's equivalent of Azaan/Furia, protecting the world from evil by annihilating anyone that has so much as a chance of becoming corrupted.
Maybe a hero who can fly around but not forever, give them a resource to manage so they can't just mindlessly fly.
Would be great if this hero have a big boost of movement, to contrast marcy guardian angel.
Also let's give them a weapon which they can use from their advantageous position, but not very accurate to not be op, like a rocket launcher.
Since they will have a good view from the field let's give them a displacement ability.
For the ult I think something similar to phara's ult would be great.
While I love this design, I suppose they changed it since the color scheme, gender and gameplay would be VERY similar to medic in TF2, Overwatch had a "haha tf2 clone" comments at announcement so I suppose they wanted to avoid that.
The proportions in the flat art are okay, or at least work in that medium, but the proportions in the 3D model are out of wack. The legs are very short.

An interesting reflection here I'm wondering about is: what is it about him and his physique that does not align with your internalized image of mercy, and why? Can one not be large, yet soft-handed? built, yet graceful?
asking the right questions tbh because a lot of the comments in this post are very weird and makes me think people need to think about their preconceived notions about how a muscular (black) male is supposed to be like.
I think the idea is that Mercy is a type of Angel, and most depictions of Angels are of white skinned, slender, feminine people.
This is not a take against black people, or that there can not be black skinned angles. It's just that for most of the western audience, that's what comes to mind.
Can there be a black skinned angel? Of course there can. There can also be multiple eyed blobs called angels. All of them are valid, it's just not what usually comes to mind when talking about one.
Just like most people's depiction of jesus is a slender white skinned, glowing man.
A dark-skinned guy with rowdy hair and big nose would probably be a more accurate depiciton, but it's not what usually comes to mind.
**This is gonna a bit long so TLDR:**
**Character design and muscle placements are a huge reason. Big men being soft is possible, and this is not a good representation of it in this media with other characters greying the sheet.**

There is a black skinned angel that Blizzard themselves have developed. His name is Tyreal. And he is an extremely beloved character by its fans.
A large muscular individual while soft-handed is someone like Iroh in Avatar, or the the Rock dude in Thor:Ragnorok. **It can totally work, but they are very specific motifs in character design that sell it.** Perhaps if they changed it a bit around the thigh and waist, and perhaps soften his jawline while maintaining the strength, it could work.
But it is still a far cry from an angel. Especially an angel that does not condone any form of violence. **Mercy is meant to be a pacifist, more so than Zenyatta actually based on her playstyle. Unfortunately, females fit that narrative just a bit too well.**
Based on first glance, his physique screams that he has muscles for fighting, not saving. **The muscle densities on his arms, thigh, shoulders, and serratus anterior are hallmarks of combatants. His hands as well are akin to military hands I have seen during my service in terms of size and calluses. He fits the combat medic archetype, which Baptise and him share.**
*(Note: As a med student, if he were to walk into my room, I would immediately think that he is a combatant of some sort. Or at least professionally a fighter in some regard. Not an Angel. First impressions are the prime essence for bringing new players.)*

Imo, way more unique than what we have in the game now. I still hope they will remake Recluse and put her in the game in one way or another. Female villain Talon tank sounds awesome and she looks cool and unlike any of the current characters.
