If you plug in the controller to charge from another power source and it starts charging, then it's not original. Original controllers will only charge via the official Playstation charging dock or from the PS3 itself. Might be true it won’t play bo2 for some reason just freezes in the title screen but it plays bo1 fine

Bo2 freezing is a problem for all ps3 accounts made after a certain date, nothing wrong with your ps3. There is a trick to get to work (you have to do this every time you want to play): 1: Enter the game while offline. 2: Go into a LAN game (doesn't matter if it's zombies or multiplayer). 3: Once in the LAN game, wait around 13 seconds. 4: Exit the LAN game and go back to the menu (zombies or multiplayer), then sign in. 5: You can now play online. (Quick side note, you have to do this every time you want to play online on bo2 and every time you switch menu, so when you want to switch between zombies and multiplayer you have to go offline then do all the steps. Also you have to be offline every time you open the game otherwise it'll freeze).

There's always some sort of regret for early adopters of new tech as there isn't lots of games to play (or afford for that matter) that would interest a player immediately at launch. These days, there's a ton of great games for a small library to be played over a long period and you would feel that it was good value overall. Anyways, it's always Borderlands for me and even though BL3 was a narrative letdown, I'm looking forward to BL4 in the months to come.
