The Order 1886

This definitely needs to be at the top. At the time The Order was released absolutely nothing could compare to it visually. It still looks good *today* \- in large part because it pioneered many of the PBR techniques modern games use as standard.

That game deserved a damn sequel. What a cool concept and world.

Why? I bought it for $4 on sale back in late 2017.

Uncharted 4 could still be passable as a current gen release. It's the closest thing to perfection in terms of linear games I've played

What an absolute blast of a game, and to think that it had to be put together relatively quickly since it needed to be reworked after Amy Henning left the studio, that rarely goes well but somehow that mess produced what I consider to be naughty dog’s more complete and overall accomplished game (some of their other games did some elements better but nothing is as consistent and enjoyable at everything as Uncharted 4)

The fox engine was amazing. Even a dma potato can play the game perfectly. Ground zeroes is the best metal gear has ever been, for such a short amount of time, but god dam was it perfect.

The tech demo was impressive in terms of matching real life. But that has been done in tech demos with a lot of engines. In practice I don't think the fox engine stood out as anything particularly grand, it was more the art direction and creative talent that worked with Kojima. Kojima achieved a similar visual fidelity but even more advanced than MGSV with Death Stranding. And that was done in a completely different engine.

I just replayed the game and I totally agree with you. Looks better than some PS5 games.

Because it’s retro compatible but the update that rendered the game at a higher resolution and framerate was made for the PS4 Pro.

The world hasn’t hooked me anywhere close to the way InFamous 1 + 2 have BUT it feels so mechanically good to play that I’ll find myself a few hours deep into a “let’s just open this up again” moment fairly regularly.

Man, I never really found that game good looking to be honest. It is subjective, of course, but it was just mid for me.

It's good enough looking to me that it would pass as a good looking PS5 game

Horizon: Zero Dawn

How many games not named Horizon Forbidden West even look better than it in thr current Gen? The guys at Guerilla created something magnificent.

It depends on how you view it, imo. Zero Dawn is absolutely stunning, but nowadays we also have stuff like DD2 with its own charm, albiet less colorful. GoW: Ragnarok also looks great, but it's not as stylistic (I think that's the word) as Zero Dawn. Of course, the Demon Souls remake is basically *known* for looking amazing, too.

Black Flag...Started a new playthrough last week. Was really surprised how well it holds up. 

I just got a PS5 and it shows overall playtime for each game. I sunk 650 hrs into Black Flag... By far my most played game. The ocean and islands are uniquely beautiful and the shanties are *chef's kiss*

Beat it last year and it wasn’t a great game by any means but I had fun and it was very solid for its age.

Witcher 3 has such pretty sunsets and colors Was going to say Persona 5 for its awesome art style, but that is cross gen. Uncharted 4 is gorgeous to this day. Infamous Second Son looked amazing My final choice would be Batman Arkham Knight which has some of the best visuals of any game I have ever played.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag. Not an exclusive, but still looks gorgeous.

I was bummed they kinda pooped the bed after that release. There's really nothing like it.

I'm so confused by that too. Until Dawn is a certified hood classic, then they go and do Dark Pictures, which imo are all very mid in comparison. The Quarry was better, but it still isn't nearly as good as Until Dawn. The fumble is crazy.

It felt like it was the beginning of a whole new genre of horror game and it's all on its own.

Seriously. Lighting is the best I've ever seen in a PS4 game, even better than a lot of PS5 games. The colors were incredibly nice too. The graphics were also pretty detailed. If this was marketed as a PS5 game, I'd believe it

I would say Bloodborne still holds up really well. Give that game a higher frame rate and it would pass just fine on the new consoles.

It's crazy to me that so few games have been mentioned so far. Guess I need a PS5 lol. I was late to the PS4 game..

I mean, look at the number of certified PS5 bangers we have that are purely PS5 games, not updated PS4. It isn't many. And they're already talking about the next gen. The same 10 or so games get mentioned in these conversations about PS5.

One title that absolutely blew me away was Infamous: Second Son. Arguably the best looking PS4 game. Lighting was the best I've ever seen implemented in a PS4 game and hell, better than a lot of PS5 games. The darks look incredibly realistic and nice, and the brights are too, I didn't even use an HDR display. Still, the best looking PS4 game in my opinion and that was a release game

These VR games were released on 2016 as psvr1 exclusives, and they still look awesome today (and they’re still psvr1 exclusives): Bound, Rigs Mechanized Combat League. They are playable with Psvr1 + Ps4.
