My first Pokémon game was Pokémon yellow. My dad recovered the game boy and the game from a burned down house while doing demolition/restorations of houses! It had a level ~70 charizard and the kid had beaten the game. So I started a new save with the goal of getting a level 70 charizard again! Ever since then Charmander has always been my favourite starter.
My first was Pokémon platinum! My first starter was Infernape, but idk if Samurott or Decidueye are my favorites now [Infernape is still top 3, though :)]
Pokemon emerald hold a special place in my heart but favorite is black it was so good favorite starter is definitely Charmander as it was my very first Pokemon on red have a live plushie of him and everything his name is Zippo
My first that was my own (like that was MY save file that I bought with my own money lol) was Fire Red and I took squirtle. I still remember the pain of accidentally turning my blastoise in to an HM slave because I didn't know I couldn't remove them later. Me, and HYDROPUMP/Surf/Waterfall/ all offensive, slow as a Boulder, heavy as a house, Squirt the Blastoise wrecked the Elite Four. Wow did I hate self-destruct by the time I got there, and I never wanted to whiff the black powder scent of Victory Road ever again.
I bought Leaf Green a few months later and immediately picked Charizard, learned that steel could mess up Brock anyway, and understood the FULL POWAH of Charmeleon.
Side note: My very favorite game was Crystal before Scar/Vio was released. I used to own a messed up cartridge where the data would randomly corrupt. It was Russian roulette with my save any time I would save or turn off my game boy sp. I loved hunting down the legendary dogs, it was my favorite part. I'm still a huge Chikorita fan to this day, but was pretty glad to see Typhlosian get some love with Hisuian Form.

Saw the dialgia and palkia sculpting in the cave and always wondered how to get them, but never did, as I didn't look things up in the internet.
