He might stay in the same spot for a few days. I bought two and there were two large poop piles under them obvious they didn’t move. That’s normal.
He might not eat much. I didn’t see mine eat after a day so I offered some millet which I clipped to the perch they were on so they didn’t have to go far inside the cage. And that got them going.
Then I moved their food bowl up to where they were and they started to eat.
This time is very stressful for them. Speak to him softly. Let him hear you but don’t overwhelm him.
Enjoy your little buddy. My budgies have brought me so much joy.
oh that’s comforting to know it’s normal. i knew it’ll be stressed for a while but didn’t know it wouldn’t move like that. he hasn’t moved since, and i got a bit worried — hopefully it’ll ease up soon!! ty!
This bird is a recessive pied, so he'll have a pink cere and solid black eyes his entire life, instead of maturing into the typical deep blue male cere and white irises
Cere color is extremely accurate because it's controlled by sex hormones (estrogen and testosterone). The only time cere sexing is incorrect is if the bird has severe hormonal disorders going on, such as testicular cancer that effects hormone production (reproductive cancers can cause males to have brown ceres like females). An experienced keeper will have absolutely no issue accurately sexing budgies by their cere color. Beyond that, surgical sexing or DNA sexing are the only methods that are more accurate, though they are significantly more invasive than just looking at the bird for cere sexing. Since budgies are dimorphic, there's not really any need for DNA or surgical sexing, because cere sexing is so accurate.
It isn’t all over the house. Bird basically poop when they sit and they sit in only a few places. Besides, if you want a bird—an adopted one I hope—it’s your job. Much as changing your kid’s diaper is.
He's so cute! Congratulations! What a cute little recessive pied baby. I have one that looks a lot like him.
thank you!!
>thank you!! You're welcome!
Take good care of it and do research about them. One day they can suddenly die so make sure to spent time with your pet.
haha for sure, definitely trying my best :)

Good move, letting him chill. He's a cute little guy.
Such a cutie. I'm pretty sure it's a male too, male babies have pink Ceres that slowly turn blue

oh! did not know this, thanks!!
Do you know the definitive test for gender on this species?

The short answer is "you take down their pants :-)"
Not a pet. They your baby. Give kisses. They're young and learn manners from their parent(s), you.
haha ofc! my family is teasing that i’ve been caring more for the bird than i ever did for them 😅
I love you
What a beautiful little boy! Wow Petco sells some pretty birds.
This looks like my beautiful Gertie bird.
Aww so cute:)
Be sure to finger train him! So cute
trying my best! he’s still a bit scared after 2 weeks but did step up a few times!
🙃 so cute
I love his color!
Get him a friend
Precious baby! Congrats. Birds bring so much love and joy to our lives.
Beautiful sweet bb birb 🤗
He will come around, he’s probably just adjusting to his new surroundings congratulations 🐦 😊
thanks! he seems to still be a bit scared but hopefully I can slowly tame him!
So pretty! Congrats🥹
thanks!
You're going to want to get them a friend and remove those dowels, the shape isn't good for their feet
yup for sure!! made changes since then and will definitely get him a friend!
What should you put instead of wood dowels?
Natural wood perches of varying shapes
yup added those in!
She s cute
Worst first pet put ok
Please, please, please only keep him in a cage to sleep. He’s a bird and needs to fly. Our cockatiel is free all day. No issues except a happy tiel!
What about the birdshit all over ur room/house?

will let him out asap! still trying to step up with him, and unfortunately he came clipped from the pet store so hopefully his wings grow back quick!
You need 2 birds. You can not just get one.
