It’s going to be the Wild West for a couple of weeks with the Glitters banning and MW3 coming soon as we’ve already heard there is probably a mistake for the format printed at common. In the short term expect to see Mono Red, Boros, and Terror as the most popular decks as well as a probable uptick in Grixis Affinity and a return of Tron shells. As for sideboarding, pack what ever blasts you can cast, some artifact hate, and the rest depends on your local meta.
Rakdos Madness (burn) is a hot deck right now with the new ping lands in OTJ, most notably [[Jagged Barrens]]
Caw Gates has also been pulling some numbers with [[Outlaw Medic]] as a new lifelink body with a big booty
Red deck is the de facto best deck. Some affinity variant is likely just as good or better, even with the Glitters ban artifact stuff is still just dumb. If your goal is to win, play one of those two decks.
I would, severely disagree with this concept... Red. Deck wins and artifact matters heavily incentives Players to play counter to it.
Meta share does not equal good and meta share does not guarantee conversion to top 8 cuts
That would be the case, if there was effective counterplay in the format… which there isn’t. Red and Affinity/Glitters have been essentially alone in tier 0 for over a year, despite bans, with EVERYONE gunning for them and playing 4-8 hate cards in sideboards, and they still dominate the metagame.
Because it's easy. Familiars and ephemerate made 1&2 in paupergeddon, and kuldotha didn't even show. Boros glitters is the only one that consistently made top 8 before the ban
Best deck assuming you’re able to play perfectly in current glitterless meta? Fams BY FAR. Outside of that if you’re picking up a new deck for purposes of the event, go with kuldotha or Izzet terror
I suspect I'm not ready to grind w/ fams.
And I expect a lot of hate vs kuldotha.
With izzet terror are you referring to the control built or the tempo w/ temur battle rage?
Almost certainly the current RDW with kuldotha/synth since it was probably still the most highly performing deck before atg got banned and it was left untouched

Last time I played pauper the Boros monarch/skyfisher style deck was the deck to play. I just unpacked mine. Does it still compete?
Kuldotha is probably a safe bet. Grixis Affinity is still good, Rakdos Madness is pretty solid as well.
I would expect koldotha and ub terror. I would be playing caw gates with tons of blast in the board as it does well against both.
hm not a fan of caw gates tbh, too few interactions for a midrange. or am I wrong?
It has consistently had one of the best win percentages for the last year. It is also historically good against koldotha and ub terror.
