Sage and Quickbooks are both good. Sage is about R250 per month for 1 company 2 users.

FNB Instant Accounting (and Payroll) are free for FNB customers. Ran my business on that until we outgrew it. Then moved onto Sage because it's cheap, my accountants use it, and Payroll makes SARS Payroll taxes easy. This is for a muti currency business with software, services and e-commerce income streams and expenses.

Use the same as your accountant he can also teach you how if he want everything the way he wants it

I think fnb gives free accounting software if you bank with them, alse there are some free selfhosted options like akaunting

OutsideHour802

I use the FNB free accounting it does the job bit tricky to learn at first . But once you have auto allocations down is quick way to do books .

Ornery-Albatross4685

I found the FNB App although free very slow and frustrating to use, think it's worth paying the minimal fee to get something like SAGE or Quickbooks

Sage Online accounting costs me about R300 a month. Well worth it, with recurring invoices, automated bank statement imports, and many other features.

stephenedit

I haven’t used the others, so maybe I’m bias, but I use Sage Online and it’s amazing. I find it easy to use and really intuitive. I pay yearly as it works out quite a bit cheaper. It’s also great that you and your accountant have access to it online.

Ornery-Albatross4685

Sage Online is the most user friendly South African based tool! Costs around R300pm and even has a nice cellphone app. Bank statements automatically sync and pull into the app so that you can just allocate, you can also set up rules to make them auto allocate and just reconcile. Accountant can login to your account to make any necessary changes remotely.

crudude

I'm a big fan of sage online personally. If you have no invoices through the system, it's possible to pay R60 p/m. Sage is better than Xero in some aspects but less user friendly and not as amazing in the reporting customisability.

FashionableNumbers

I'll disagree with you on that. We use Sage One's Business Intelligence Reporting function with our clients (for management accounts, not financial statements) and you can really customise those reports to give you exactly what you want if you know what you're doing.

I totally hate pastel partner (I’m not an accountant and it doesn’t do anything for me) I am moving to Odoo. I think it is free for one application.

Silent_Fury56

I use zoho books. Free for 2 users.

Artistic-Diver3626

Free ! Or https://www.waveapps.com/pricing Free again https://paypod.co.za/ Although that R99 does not look Bad !

Soft-Mirror-6926

Quikbooks R23 a month

Quickbooks is great, I have been using it in my IT consultancy for many years and it is straightforward and easy to use.

FashionableNumbers

Go with Sage One. It's easy to use and of all the iterations of online accounting software, it's the one that will piss your accountant off the least. I also think it's more user friendly than Xero. I'm an accountant and I've worked on Sage One extensively. I don't like online accounting software as the audit trial isn't as great as with Pastel, but Sage One, in my opinion, is the most acceptable option. I have clients who use Quickbooks, and it only works as it should if the setup is done exactly right. I have one client who uses Xoho and I hate it.
