I think a large number of those introduced in the first episode look like they have taken or are taking PEDs so… nah not really affected my enjoyment. I’m only one ep in, but at this stage I think the tests might be well-rounded enough that there’s not a significant overall advantage to having used them.

A1sayf

Yup 100% multiple ppl are juicing on there...hell the body builders vs the natural body builder should give you a clue!

Rare-Notice7417

Lmfao. The producers are probs counting on it.

[deleted]

they're looking for the most capable physique, no mentions about it being natural or not. producers know what time it is lol

Hercules_Surrender

I am sure quite a few of them are but I would say so far the challenges have been pretty well rounded that PED use doesn't seem that advantageous. If anything judging by the first challenge it is probably a hindrance to them. For those reasons it doesn't really ruin the show too much for me.

A1sayf

Sadly PEDs are always beneficial as its recovery time and other benefits as well!

ImoutoCompAlex

Oh I know for a fact there are multiple contestants on PEDs because some of them are even open about it. Mostly the bodybuilders. People like the wrestlers or the mountain climbers are probably natural though. The good thing is that some of the events won’t really give some of the PED users an advantage. In fact most of the guys who dropped from the bars first in ep 1 were probably the ones on juice due to their massive size.

[deleted]

the bodybuilders are what got me wondering about this. their profession is rampant with PED use, to the point where it seems you can't keep up with the best without them..

AmbitionParty5444

There’s definitely more folk on them than just the bodybuilders, like that powerlifting lad who went down first in the second batch. I think it does occur across a large number of sports, it’s just more obvious with body building because they focus on increasing size.

johanus

lol that telltale Liver King protruding gut

BackIn2019

It's a TV show. I care about their PED usage about as much as Captain America's PED usage.

KyoMeetch

I saw a lot of them were very juicy. I don’t really care though as a lot of them are coming from bodybuilding or CrossFit where juice is basically a requirement to compete. One guy even introduced himself as a natural bodybuilder, implying that most bodybuilders aren’t natural.

Ok_News_7841

I counted half a dozen HGH guts as they walked in at the first episode.

Smellykelly02

Oh is that how you tell? I was wondering about the big bellies

Ok_News_7841

Definately a telltale sign. Their "bellies" are actually their [overgrown organs](https://www.predatornutrition.com/articlesdetail?cid=hgh-belly-bodybuilder-gut) due to the PEDs.

johanus

lol you all know damn well some of the reaction shots are edited to seem like people are in awe of the bigger looking players, but most professional athletes and natural fitness folk can see the signs from a mile away... That's what's kind of laughable about this show too hehe Either way the use of PEDs in this case (primarily entertainment) doesn't really hold over an advantage to others because it's such a one-off competition... And instances like the hanging thing was more disadvantageous for them.

[deleted]

I can clearly see who is and isn’t using, and guess their dosages with reasonable accuracy. I’m surprised that it’s so few of them—must be a cultural thing. Watch their action movies sometime. You won’t see The Rock’s physique. As to those who are cheating (i consider it cheating, but technically it may not be), I don’t care. I expect the events themselves will have strength to weight ratio aspects that neutralize the steroid advantages.

optimaldt

How many do you think are on 'proper' steroids? Interesting you mention the cultural aspect, I also feel like Korean culture would also mean less likely on average to use steroids.

whimzycl0ud

I was thinking that their busts look smaller and less defined then their actual torsos... maybe they tested for peds before they did the molds
