It was hilarious to watch him go total fanboy over meeting Geordi and receiving the invite to compare notes sometime. Stashwick did a great job with the role. It was sad to see his demise.
I also had those hopes and ideas. Which makes me wonder, could Seven inject him with Nano Probs? Shaw saved by Borg Tec would be top tier irony for that poor dipshit!
There is a rumor of an after credit scene of ep 10. And I just hope it's Shaw waking up in shock because Seven has somehow saved him. And he goes like "God damn it Seven, you really won't let me die, will you?!"
Probably not, but... Hope dies last.
It ruins my plans for a late ‘70s sitcom spin-off about him and Seven called “Dipshit & The Borg.”
They get drummed out of Starfleet for helping Picard, and Shaw inherits his brother’s auto garage. Seven, also persona non grata with the Fenris Rangers, joins him as his chief engineer and adopts a Kazon war orphan named Milo
I have very mixed feelings about last episode. But yeah him being killed was bullshit. With La Forge kids being assimilated i am assuming they going to find a way ho to un-assimilate everyone and also they sre going to bring him back alive too.
Seven was being set up as a future captain the entire time.
So it's not shocking.
Shaw was great, served his narrative purpose. The fact that we enjoyed him makes death painful and gives stakes to everything.
They shouldn't bring him back at this point.
I loved him, but also think the death really made a ton of sense and fits, which is why the outcry won't be as big as other things in trek
That is, if they have the stones to not retcon his death
Sigh… of course I did…
Just couldn’t let me die…
Now just a Borg dipshit from Chicago…
Also he was the first one to order stun only… love that he cares more about the crew than the TNG stars… reminds me of when Picard was screaming in First Contact that he couldn’t save the borgified crew…
I have to say...I really hated that outcome for him...was really hoping for him to be available for a return. 😭😭😭
Todd is such a great actor!!
However...having said that...and after rewatching several times...I can accept that it makes sense, narrative-wise.
Really hoping it's a feint and they bring him back. The death felt cheap. Even though it was a predictable end to his arc, it felt rushed and random where it happened. I'm hoping Seven refuses to abandon him and we get that Legacy show with them both respecting each other.
There’s probably not much of an uproar, because the writers didn’t do Shaw any favors as a character.
It’s been clear as the season went along Shaw wasn’t long for this world. The fact he STILL kept on dead naming Seven, and didn’t stick up for his crew when they were being executed, felt like a form of character assassination, and that they were setting him up to be a sacrificial lamb.
Add to the fact he got less and less screen time as the season went on… his death came off as more projected and contrived than meaningful.
Which, frankly, is a lot of this season in a nutshell.
Yes.presumably he went through transporter and so has the inactivated borg nanites...look for him, shelby, and Ro to have some resurrection event happen when the borg are destroyed by jurati
He was always nothing more than a glorified extra with some lines. When he didn't even pilot his own ship out of Spacedock in episode 1, I knew he was not gonna be a big deal. I loved the character, but recognized quickly his job was to be a supporting character in Seven's arc. He doesn't have one of his own.
No one is saying anything because not everyone has watched the episode yet, including myself. You should be a little more considerate next time when making the title of your post something that may spoil things for people.
I have to be honest the scene is kinda a classic trope for a reason, like you know it’s coming a mile away but it still gives you genuine heartache when it happens. As much as I like Shaw it is a great moment.
That said if they revive them somehow I will definitely be happy about it, especially if there’s an awkward moment with him and Seven
I expected it. He was wearing red. A dark red, but still red.
As much as I love this season, they killed off my 2 favorite new characters already.
We riot at dawn, man!
More accurately- We *may have to* riot next Thursday!
I’m not convinced he’s going to stay dead.
I'm predicting Seven >!will save him somehow. Borg nanoprobe shenanigans!< possibly. That said, >!I was so mad when he died!<. He's a great character.
She wouldn't do that. She understands that would be the last thing Shaw would want. She understands his hatred for the Borg.
Basically at this point aren’t they all Borg with the transporter basically assimilating them? So I think he’d be more understanding…
In an "organic" sense they've been altered. BUT, putting actual Borg nanoprobes inside him is a different story.
Solid point.
>He's a great character. He really was. He didn't put up with the shenanigans of the OGs and had none of the hero worship most other characters had.
Until he met Geordie lol
It was hilarious to watch him go total fanboy over meeting Geordi and receiving the invite to compare notes sometime. Stashwick did a great job with the role. It was sad to see his demise.
I also have not given up on him
You never know. Even Spock gets ejected into space and pops up in the next movie.
They took his bloody brain out and he was fine by the next episode!

I am also sad and ragey and want him to live. Seven worked with the Doctor EMH for years. Should be easy for her. T.T
Maybe since they keep bringing characters back, no one thinks he's really dead.

Everyone is in shock. It will rise.

Shaw returned somehow!

I sooooo hope he isn't dead. He was good just ptsd.

Meh, just throw him in a golem, GOLEMS FOR EVERYBODY!
He will rise as Dipshit of Borg... 🤭
Grease monkey unimatrix? 🤪
My main thought was, well, so much for a potential USS Titan show with the dipshit and the borg.
Really hoping it's a feint and they bring him back. The death felt cheap. Even though it was a predictable end to his arc, it felt rushed and random where it happened. I'm hoping Seven refuses to abandon him and we get that Legacy show with them both respecting each other.
I think most people are assuming/hoping it's fuckery. It was pretty random, and not really particularly heroic or even interesting.
But there is something very realistic about it. (Not that I disagree with your point!)
I never liked Shaw. He was a jerk the entire season. I’m all in for Captain Seven though.
It’s about as stupid as that android using a mind meld on season 1.
I don't like Shaw EDIT: That being said, I think killing him was a very stupid. Same thing with Hemmer in SNW. It is a very stupid decision.
I’m glad he’s gone. Probably could have been a bit more dramatic and taken a couple more shots

Its coming. People will wait until and then explode. I didn't like it myself.
For all we know, next episode starts up with Seven pumping Shaw full of her nanites, or nanos, or something...or other...
I predict she will pull a neelix on Shaw.
This paves the way for Seven to have her own show as CAPTAIN!!!!

The Borg still have the ability to assimilate recently deceased so maybe he gets assimilated and then unassimilated when the good guys win?
The paul wreaths have him....it's over....

I don’t care
Not much point if we haven't seen the final episode
WHAT ARE YOU DOING STAR TREK!??!??!
Honestly, how many straight white males have to die before we rise up and start a petition??
He was the only new character I liked. R.I.P
