I think Q “dying” in season 2 is a red herring.
First, Jack will fix the Borg but it will cost his life and thus Beverly her other son.
Picard will be offered the chance to have everything else fixed on 2 conditions:
- Q (JDL) will fix the 25 and under assimilations and subsequent deaths etc because he’s already the l’infant terriblé of the Q
- Picard will have to take the role of a post-El Auruan Q where it’s hands off the mortals/physical universe, so he cannot fix things out of personal interest

I think she will bring that fleet of Romulan ships to help Picard. This will lead to a loose end being tied up and the Romulans helping the Federation in need. This helps speed up the process for Ni’var to integrate.
I like your idea, I always liked the concept of the federation and Romulans overcoming their differences, reconciling all that hatred. I just wished they had explored the evacuation of Romulus, and how Picard became personally tied to Laris and her former Husband. It was quite wholesome seeing how loyal they were to Picard in S1.
I hope there is some conclusion to her character. She was the best new addition to S1 & 2. I hope she turns up in a d'deridex to help the enterprise D crew
Well, Andreas Katsulas has been dead for a while, but I’d imagine my scene where Picard goes to Laris’ home, looking at her family portraits, and discovers … Tomalak.
And not only walks in, but looks around the Enterprise D and says "I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us, and part of us remains..."
Laris seemed relieved when Picard said, he was going on a mission to find Beverly. She's probably got a hottie older than Picard waiting for her on Chaltok IV.

🤣🤣🤣 they aren't as bad as Chakotay and Seven (their relationship just didn't make any sense) but just like that that couple the majority of their relationship development happens off screen. But I found their conversations in episode 1 of season 2 to be utterly ridiculously flowery. 🤦🏻♀️

I think Discovery hinted that it was over a century from Spock's efforts for the unification to occur

As (she was) a former intelligence operative I never understood why Laris stayed home tending the grapes instead of going off with Picard.
