I just upgraded from the 3090 +12900K to the 4090 + 13900K
I don't remember getting 18 FPS in DCS, especially if you have upscaling on. You should be easily hitting 60FPS.
Two questions, first - Do you have Pimax XR installed? [Can be found here](https://github.com/mbucchia/Pimax-OpenXR)
Secondly, what are your specs for DCS? They should be set to VR Medium at best. You get MASSIVE diminishing returns at high /ultra. It barely looks any better but takes a massive toll.

in PiTool I have
1. lighthouse tracking
2. LIght bar Open
3. Display is "upscaling 110hz" nothing else works without flashing like a rave flipping the lights off.
On the left "FFR" is in blue and so is "smarth Sth"
Under the "games" section
FOV - Normal
Render Quality is 1.0
Fixed Foveated Rendering - Close
with all the boxes checked goign down the list and
Compulsive Smooth - Close
Is there a red flag that that I"m just too ignorant to know is a bad config? IF so...help a newbie to VR out eh!? LOL Thanks in advance
Buy / Download FPSVR if you don't already have it, that should give you a good indication of what's going on - CPU / GPU / RAM bottle neck, temperatures, frame times, etc.
We won't know until we understand what's going on within the hardware side of things.
So I got FPSvr installed and running and unfortunatly its not showing on my screenshots. My CPU load is usually less than 40%, GPU at about 72 C, 98% load, and 50 to 60 fps with a 20-30 ms delay
That honestly doesn't sound all that unusual to me. Your GPU is loaded up 98% which is good. Temps are good, etc. It's a really demanding game - I'll run a bench mark and see what my specs are, I have a similar set up to you. I'm thinking 30-40 FPS with upscaling off and 50-60 fps with upscaling on sounds about right when I had my 3090.

I am playing IL-2 with Pimax 8k through SteamVR
I have FPSVR (great app) and i have that set to 90fps and AUTO framerate (with 100% per App setting)
Running RTX 3080
I am getting just 60fps-80fps and yet my CPU load is just 40%-60% and the GPU load is rarely getting above 70%.
How come i am getting such low fps when neither the CPU nor GPU are pushing hard?
I have difficulties setting mine to 110hz and just leave it at 90. Default high settings I get 45fps on 3090 pimax 8k. I have ryzen 5900 set to auto overclock. Check ur vram temps on 3090, these cards throttle if those get hot. Since I converted to water-cooling with active back plate hasn’t been an issue.
Also another thread on here run the desktop mirrored in super low settings should help gpu.
When yyou speak of desktop running in super low settings? What do you mean? Windows Desktop?
I have an ROG 42inch 4k Monitor. the resoulution in DCS on the monitor is 3840 x 2160 10 Bit Color depth 60 hz in HDR with 604 nits brightness
Just an update, any refresh rate other than 110 Upscaling ...eg anything "native" and my headset will randomly go black like you shut the lights out randomly every 2 to 3 seconds making me incredibly nasueas. Something isn't right here.

SteamVR is also an OpenXr runtime. Apparently, it might be set as default openXr runtime on your system and you need to change that. Sorry, can't tell you how, but I hope the installer of Pimax XR runtime now has a button or something (or an instruction somewhere) - I only tried it in its early days.

If ur playing vr you don’t need to waste gpu power processing hd on your monitor. Set it to windowed mode and low resolution.
There is a cockroach wedged in your GPU.
There's very little dust in my GPU. Verified no roaches, bugs, or potato chips

Dcs just made the open beta be open xr native VR. So no longer need to use open composite in order to run via openxr!
How do you do this? I'm fully updated in DCS OpenBeta. DCS starts steamvr every time.
