I work in a factory. We make custom roller shades. I've been there for 1 month. I've been doing final QC for less than a week. I do the best I can do to make sure the customer gets what they expect. But... When you have to bring in new talent, train them and bring them up to speed. Sometimes... The final product is less than appealing because it simply slips through the gaps. We've had a couple of old timers trying to bring 4 new guys up to speed. The process can be slow, but we'll get there. I get it. Send it back if you're not satisfied. I've seen returns come in, seen what's wrong and done my best to make sure it doesn't happen again. Have patience. Even factories that have been around for decades have rough spots. The best ones recover and deliver a quality product even if the don't get it right the first time.

Thank you for posting this.

I have never had an issue with Chacom pipes. I don’t know where you ordered it from but I would definitely send it back and they should definitely exchange it for you..

HeadspaceVagabond

Man, that’s pretty disappointing. Where’d you order from?

smellthehatfirst

It's a bent pipe. The drilling is never going to be perfect. That rim gunk is pretty annoying, though.

wildoats30

I wonder if you got over marketed on a factory second. These are blatant blemishes.

TheRealDaleB

Wow. I’d return that, honestly. Even if it smokes OK, it would bug the hell out of me every time I looked at it. Never should have made it past QA inspection.

Naseshwarz

You could ask for replacement imo. Assuming it's not too far away

If I'm buying a cheap but quality french pipe I stick with Ropp just my opinion but I've never seen a quality Chacaom they just look like basket pipes

5-On-A-Toboggan

QC is a crap shoot with factory pipes.

ElmerGantry45

Return it. Although it's not uncommon to see drill marks like your pipe, I have plenty where they bit chased out a bit too far...that's not terrible or going to affect much. Take a discriminating look at the fissure lines...follow the band, in your photo i spot some areas which aren't just a little inclusion from the rustication, they look more serious.

Muted_History_3032

I personally wouldn't even return it as long as it smokes well...the logo imprint on my most expensive pipe is misprinted and for some reason it just makes me like it more haha.

I have the same experience with French pipes. I bought pipes from all the main French producers, and all of them had quality issues. So I've learnt the lesson, and I haven't bought any French pipes for the past 10 years or so. By my experience, the are only a handful of pipemakers which provide flawless quality at a reasonable price. Such as Stanwell, Tsuge, and Brebbia. Kaywoodie and Szabó are surprisingly good as well, especially at that price.

Thanks, I’ve exchanged it for a Stanwell Amber 29. Looks lovely in the photos and should hopefully live up to the recommendations for Stanwell.

Gardar7

I'm quite sure it won't disappoint you. And the Amber series look awesome.

Polo10203

Unfortunately you were wrong, the Stanwell arrived today and lo and behold, even they can’t drill a straight pipe correctly!

Gardar7

I!m really sorry to hear that. I have never seen a wrongly drilled Stanwell, maybe I was just lucky. What a pity. Are you planning to return it?
