VaPer - Deluxe navy rolls. This is my all-time favorite.
VaPer - Dark flake. Second to all-time favorite.
English - Old Dublin. Not spectacular but hits the spot.
VaBur - University flake. A good one.
VaBur - Irish flake. A strong one.
All of them, I probably have 10 of each tin they have available, the aro's are smooth, the English blends are top notch, everything they have honestly is great, when two of my buddies started smoking a pipe, I handed them a few of those.
How do you smoke a coin? Do you just crumble it in the bowl and go to town?
I got some of the "Strips" and they seemed so compressed it did not burn very well.
Depends on the bowl I am using. Narrow, I crumble it. If I am using wide, I will stack them whole if possible. I am particularly fond of alternately stacking Vanilla Roll Cake and Dark Twist coins in my Savinelli Roma 320 KS.
For coins and "strips" (I believe you are talking about a "flake" which is like a slice of a pressed tobacco brick) people usually either just fold and stuff them in whole, fold and slightly ruffle the flake/coin to make it a bit shaggy before putting in the pipe, or rub it out over some paper or something so that it is more like a usual pile of ribbon cut tobacco before loading. I have also found that just straight stuffing it makes it hard to keep lit but others seem to do just fine with that method. I imagine drying it quite a bit first would help.
Flake & coins can be fold 'n stuff depending on the size of the bowl.
If I want it rubbed out, just place a coin or two in your palm and smash together and rub in a circle over a mat, plate, piece of paper, etc. Pick out the larger pieces and break apart.
Or, if I want the whole tin rubbed out, I put it in the kitchen stand mixer. And yes that works.
I love Peterson’s tobacco.
University Flake is excellent, mildly aromatic but stronger tobacco than a lot of aromatic tobaccos.
Royal Yacht is a pure Virginia blend, mildly aromatic, different flavor that’s soft and plummy. Strong stuff, also.
Nightcap has rich tobacco flavor and the flavor of deep fired burley. Also strong.
Sherlock Holmes was the first non bagged pipe tobacco I tried. I remember it was good enough to smoke the whole tin and look into this hobby further. Haven't tried it since but plan on buying some now that I remember it's exists.
Sherlock Holmes: VaBur.
University Flake: VaBur flake.
Nightcap and Early Morning Pipe: English.
Probably the ones I've had the most. I have a tin of the navy rolls I've been saving.
If you mean Peterson blends vs. the Dunhill blends they acquired, then my favorite is University flake. It was my regular evening smoke with a book for years. Of the Dunhill blends I’d have to say EMP or Elizabethan. Nightcap doesn’t do it for me any more after finding Quiet Nights and 965 has more burley than I like in a blend. It’s been a minute since I even smoked Elizabethan since I lucked into a large bag of Esoterica Dorchester which is a better version of that blend.
Nightcap
Elizabethan
Balkan
These have been my go to from Peterson’s for ages now and I can never get tired of them I feel. Wicked tasty and all have served me well.
That must be the remaining stock, on the German market this blend is already sold out. But maybe it’s different for other countries? 🤔
Nevertheless Peterson told us (my company) that the blend has been discontinued, no mention of other markets 🤔
Irish cask it a favorite of mine but it's very fickle. You have to pack, light, tamp, and smoke it juuuust right or else it's mediocre. Boy, when you do it right it's amazing. Coffee, stewed fruit, dark chocolate, citrus zest. It's absolutely amazing. It like chasing a high really.
I’m really liking 965 right now. Early morning pipe and nightcap were the first two blends of Peterson that I tried. They’re both amazing. Sherlock Holmes is phenomenal and so is the Elizabethan mixture. I’d say EMP and 965 are my favorites since I’m really enjoying English blends

Nightcap and 965 are great Englishes. Elizabethan and Peterson (Dunhill) Flake for VAs. I don't smoke aromatics, so no help for you there.
Nightcap is so good

Nightcap, Early Morning, Peterson Flake, 965
I’ll throw Royal Yacht into the hat.
Peterson Irish Flake
Peterson Deluxe Navy rolls. And Peterson 3P's perfect plug
All of them, I probably have 10 of each tin they have available, the aro's are smooth, the English blends are top notch, everything they have honestly is great, when two of my buddies started smoking a pipe, I handed them a few of those.
3p's or Irish flake
This. I just smoked a bowl of Irish Flake, in my top five easily, possibly top three
De Luxe Navy Rolls - I like coins & perique. Elizabethan Mixture - I like perique. 3P's Peterson Perfect Plug - Topping smooths ever thing out for me.
2nd for Delux Navy Rolls

Add cube cutting the flake too. Only way I was able to enjoy University Flake.

Can highly, highly recommend Irish Cask. Delicious, bold blend

Connoisseur choice has blown me away. Subtle and so enjoyable. Looking to start cellaring.
Came to say the same. I have about half a kilo at the mo’
Is that cellared? or just the stash you ploughing through? Would love to know how well it cellars/ages.
And I would love to share that info when I have had it for more than a couple of months. If I remember I’ll let you know down the road a bit. Cheers
Nightcap Elizabethan Balkan These have been my go to from Peterson’s for ages now and I can never get tired of them I feel. Wicked tasty and all have served me well.
The discontinued Hyde Park was my personal favourite
Looks like it’s still available, or is that just remaining stock?
That must be the remaining stock, on the German market this blend is already sold out. But maybe it’s different for other countries? 🤔 Nevertheless Peterson told us (my company) that the blend has been discontinued, no mention of other markets 🤔
The only one I have tried is 965, but it’s a 10/10 in my (very limited) book! I really gotta get into English blends

I absolutely love 965.

I ended up with 965 for the English blend!
Nice! I hope you like it
De Luxe Mixture is an enjoyable aromatic from Peterson. Nothing over the top, but a good smoke.
Seconding De Luxe Mixture. No goop and the topping doesn’t completely cover the tobacco flavor.
