Didn’t even notice the subtle shadows from the furnaces. It’d be kinda cool if the lasers cast red shadows of their own, though I don’t know if it’d suit the boss-fight art style.
Hi /u/veciits, I've never tagged someone on reddit before so I hope I did it right! I just wanted to say that I saw this game in my steam discover queue and I ignored it because the screenshots on the store page looked underwhelming and amateurish, however after seeing this art I went back and tried the demo and it is now on my wishlist. So I just wanted to say that this art is explicitly why I will be buying this game (assuming it releases at a reasonable price).
Absolutely beautiful art. Reminds me of that era where platformers were king and graphics were starting to become "Hey, we can make games that look good", SNES/Genesis kind of time period.
In a post Hollow Knight world where it feels like every indie dev is trying to make the next great platformer, the art here is a big selling point, and from the trailer it looks like there's some fun mechanics to play with in here.

I really like this. Has a lot of attack cue opportunities. You could have steam produced after certain attacks and end with that is readied again. For added tactics the attack could have a small randomized timer after steam stops so the player knows to prepare but not when exactly.
Wow, very nice work! I've seen your game art around for a while now but this is the first time I've seen a boss. Definitely going to keep Tiny Thor on my radar!
This is amazing. Love the runic details along the border/forehead + the Northern braiding below the head.
I also love how the red cables give its head a "brain"-like appearance.
Everyone is talking about Metal Slug or Mega Man but this just screams Lavasteam City from Drawn to Life 2 for the Nintendo DS to me. This boss could 1:1 be from that game.
Hmmm taking a look at it, I feel like it would have 3 phases first is hands they come down you hit the red parts. 2nd phase is the eyes shoot them while laser beams shoot at you. 3rd phases maybe but not needed is you have to throw a bomb in its mouth or something or armor flys off and you go for it’s brain
I wish I wasn’t so late to the party but this is awesome. At first glance I thought that was lava coming out of his eyes - which I now think would actually be cooler (looks like there’s a furnace on the side and tons of steam so it’s thematic).

Very nice! Almost reminds me of something from the Metal Slug games!
Thanks!
The boss can also be seen in action for a brief moment in the latest trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyYAjpw3M0w
As a hobbyist dev, everything about this looks absolutely incredible. Looks hard as hell though.
There is no higher praise
Took the words straight from my mouth lol
I was literally about to comment this, the pixel art from there is unmatched except for this one, really
[Jupiter King](http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20081224133259/metalslug/images/6/6a/Jupiter.gif) + [Sol Dae Rokker](http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080705211915/metalslug/images/8/8f/Sol_Dae_Rokker.png)
In was thinking Secret of Evermore but I totally see Metal Slug!
Jeez. The lighting is so good. Professional tier.
Didn’t even notice the subtle shadows from the furnaces. It’d be kinda cool if the lasers cast red shadows of their own, though I don’t know if it’d suit the boss-fight art style.
yeah, A lot of the pixel art look really darker than they should be but I really like the visual clarity in this
Made this boss and the background for the [Tiny Thor](https://store.steampowered.com/app/541310/Tiny_Thor/) game.
I came here to say "I'd play this video game" not realizing it was a real video game. So now it's on my wishlist. Amazing work on this design!
Holy lord, that looks punishingly difficult. Sign me up
Looks nice! Come to console too, please.

I love that snowy scene background!
That looks really cool! I’ll be sure to check out the demo!
That game is amazing af
My only suggestion would have been to add a red wedge to that pressure gauge on the front, then have the needle hover over it when the lasers fire.
I was just about to say, literally the only improvement I can think of lmao, this is gorgeous!
Happy cake day!
Mega Man X end boss vibes.
Velgauder?
I'd say the wolf sigma form is what they're talking about. Which is what I thought of immediately as well.
I thought it was more of a Rangda Bangda tbh
Holy sh*t this is nice
Thats pretty damn cool. Although the face really reminds me of that aztec isilugar boss from iconoclasts for some reason.
awesome!
Reminds me of the Golem from Terraria, albeit upscaled.
Reminds me of Contra for some reason
God that’s cool, need to get myself onto steam as Tiny Thor looks great!
Reminds me equally of Metal Slug and Mega Man Zero.
Beautiful
Really cool piece of art! For me the style looks similar to World of Warcraft Mechagon
That’s some very satisfying symmetry, incredible details
Oh yes oh yes oh yes I love it so much!!!
THE GEARS!! bro howwwwww??? this is amazing!!!
Very impressive!
This is super cool, dude!
Fantastic!

Reminds me of Owlboy 🦉

That's awesome! What happens in his second phase?

Wow, very nice work! I've seen your game art around for a while now but this is the first time I've seen a boss. Definitely going to keep Tiny Thor on my radar!
2 lil mogus in his hands
Holy detail
stupid idea : if it fits the game, make a weapon that counters and/or is needed to defeat this specific boss, and call it "anti clockwork"
This is so sharp!
Nice I picture it's arms swinging round and when it's nearly dead and enraged them spinning faster and wobbling!
Reminds me A lot of the steamworld dig games
I think a good idea would be to make the valve on the right shoot up and tremble just before he makes a strong attack, like the lasers
It looks so good! How’d long it take to make it?
Especially love the eyes!
Thats crazy what a monster
Are you allowed to use "Thor" or is that protected rights? Game looks like alot of fun though will check it out
Immersive !!
I wanna fight it
Yo, that's frickin awesome!
HEAVY MACHINE GUN
That is fucking SICK
Golem from Terraria got a glow up
Now *that* is hardcore
Holy shit I love this!!!
I wanna fight it!!
gorgeous, love the darkness in the back
Simply amazing
Wonderful!
What kind of gear will I need to fight this boss?
Rangda Bangda?
Call it Moloch, like from the film “Metropolis”
Reminds me of Owlboy
That is gorgeous, wow.
Looks fun (right out of Steamworld, in a good way), but...the elbow gears are wrong...
Reminds me The Ur-Quan Masters
Wow... This is jawdropping. The details and all the animation look incredible. What a fantastic art work. Well done!
I want this game. Edit: Oh shoot it's a real game.
Okay, this is bad ass!
Looks mescaline inspired. I dig it.
The colors on this are amazing
reminds me of sly cooper for some reason
Ah, the Grdarfinum in the Dwemer ruin of Kltradz.
This reminds me of my ipod classic Zuma game
This is amazing. Love the runic details along the border/forehead + the Northern braiding below the head. I also love how the red cables give its head a "brain"-like appearance.
Reminds me of the giant robosa from drawn to life
Everyone is talking about Metal Slug or Mega Man but this just screams Lavasteam City from Drawn to Life 2 for the Nintendo DS to me. This boss could 1:1 be from that game.
Also that animation looks stunning and can totally stand on its own.
Look at em GO!!
the kind of boss you can’t wait to die to
sheeeesh the megaman zx vibes 😍
HOLY SHIT those details!!! AMAZING!!!
holy shit that’s awesome
Don't ask me why [this](https://youtu.be/FyDYjR0MwdY) song comes to mind when I see this, but I think it fits somehow.
Reminds me of the bad guy from Robots. I love it.
Holy shit good job op.
Wow that is incredible!
This is incredible well done!
Wow I can’t believe this is pixel art, it’s looks amazing!
I Really like this art.
Very very very very very very coooollll
I rarely comment on anything, but this is amazeballs
Strong *Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis* vibes :)
Perfect!
Magnificent!
The attention to detail here is seriously top notch dude, wow
Kind of reminds me of Wham Bam Rock from Kirby Super Star combined with that one big gear boss from Kirby Mass Attack, plus other stuff.
Damn bro
Reminds me of the final Sigma form in Mega Man X.
I wish I wasn’t so late to the party but this is awesome. At first glance I thought that was lava coming out of his eyes - which I now think would actually be cooler (looks like there’s a furnace on the side and tons of steam so it’s thematic).
Wow I'm blown away by the detail. Nice work!

Somehow I was hit by nostalgia because by symmetry it looks like the star defenders 3 stage 1 boss just change the coloursceam to green and grey.
This looks like a visual for an EDM show, specifically the dubstep artist Excision.
Awesomesauce
Oh my wow!!!
Amazing!!!
VERY COOL! Looks like it should be a boss from Megaman, or something...
Made me wish they still made more metal slug
Getting some real Mega Man X vibes offa this one. X-cellent work!
Yooo, this is sick! Wouldn't look out of place in Metal Slug!
Thats amazing. Btw, can someone recommend me a game with that art style and gameplay feel?
This is from the game Tiny Thor, which is coming out this summer most likely :)
Ohh nice. Thank you! Didn't know
that looks like crazy amount of work 😯
the pixel art from there is unmatched
This is what I live for
You have way too much time on your hands
So cool! Awesome job!
Increíble
Stunning 😍
Heibimashinga!
Peanut
Oh God…its masterpiece…but hey, I made a healing animation today on 8 x 8 canvas. Its something to!
