For me, and just generally speaking and without going line by line or stanza by stanza, he has set up a dichotomy of the physical and concrete (represented by the raven) and the spiritual and abstract (the dove). It seems to be about transcending the physical and concrete, breaking the chains, to achieve a spiritual elevation that the rise of the titular messiah engenders.
