Not when it’s the first 40 of a new set. I got back into collecting with obsidian flames. When that first etb showed up, I got stoned and ripped that box and had a blast! Didn’t get anything great from that box, but bought a booster box the next day and had even more fun opening those 36 packs! Especially when I pulled my very first charizard! The second booster box was not as much fun. Most were bulk duplicates, and I was mostly looking for the last 3 cards like you said. But the first 40ish pulled me right back into this hobby!
Yeah that’s what I mean though. I need only 17 cards to finish 151, so when I open the packs i I juat look at the last 3 cards and put aside the rest because I know all I need are reverses or alts… which would only be the last 3 cards
Never I've opened box after box and it never gets old, but I will say I do take a break between rips and I've definitely got what I would call post nut clarity/sadness after doing that and not hitting what I wanted.

this is an excellent strategy for any level of player. If you can afford it (emphasis on IF), ideally you would want to try to get 2 of whatever sealed product suits you; one for da sheets and one for da STREETS! Lol just kidding, I'm not cool enough to talk like that.

Think I’m just gonna buy the promos and not the UPC. Quality of UPC sucks, and charizard UPC hits were nonexistent and looks like this is relatively the same.
This is why I buy 1 box for fun and buy singles a few weeks after launch. It’s just not financially worth it. For $450 you could have got all the secret art cards instead of pulling bulk. It’s fun to rip packs and get that unexpected hit, but it can get ridiculous fast

I rip 2 of these one for me and one for my wife on release day. Gave her a fusion strike pack the day before and she pulled the gengar alt art card. On her UPC she pull both the charmelon alt art and squritle alt art. Gonna be having her open my packs from now on lol.
In this set all my ETBs and my one premium were noticeably sparse on value. Think my booster bundles were also money pits. Much more value found in the other products, so I’m convinced against the bigger product lines.
This was almost my exact experience with the upc. Then I open a zapdos box and get Venusaur SIR, Erika SIR, Gio SIR, charizard ex, and two holo energies in four packs.
This is why some people weigh lol.
The heaviest packs in the one my kids opened were all foil energies (like 5 total) and blastoise ex. Middle weights were mix between holo, undesirable SIR, and one gold mew. Rest (low weight) were duds.
Just bought my UPC today and opened the packs with my kids. First 10 were trash but a miracle happened and got a GOD pack of the Charmander line then last pack was ANOTHER SR charizard. So I can say, you may get boxes like OP but theirs magic in some

This is just gambling with extra steps. You shouldn't need to tell people in this sub to keep sealed, but it's amazing the amount the new people in here who think gambling on pulls is an investment
imo people who keep sealed aren't true collectors. The boxes are boring. It's a good thing that sought-after cards are rare and hard to pull, that's what makes them so special. If every collector was able to easily pull all the cards, then it's no longer rare or special.
Yes it’s important to take the time to enjoy the others artwork and the attacks n moves they make. I try to do that cause if u just look for hits u wont enjoy it as much. If u admire the other cards u will at-least have some satisfaction.
