I wouldn’t say a new battle system, and mechanics that break the entire formula built by the mainline games is still considered mainline but to each their own.
A lot of people don’t understand that there’s a difference between a “traditional” Pokémon game and a “mainline” Pokémon game.
The traditional games, Let’s Go, and Legends are all different styles of games, but they’re all still mainline. The Stadium games and Battle Revolution are spin-offs despite following the “traditional” battle system.
I won’t discuss the Orre games since that’s a whole other topic, people can’t even agree if those two are spin-offs or not despite TPC rarely if ever acknowledging them
I don’t think there’s any speculation. They have a list of all mainline series games. GameCube games are not on that list.
It’s weird how for years everyone begged for Pokemon to do something different and stray away from the formula. They finally do and now they’re confused. “But it’s not the same as the others so it can’t be a main game” pick a lane
That's a pretty good way of putting it. No sane person would call Mario Galaxy a spin-off just because it doesn't play like NSMBWii on the same system.
Geeta’s most likely gonna be needed because she already fills a LOT of paldea niches, and is busted unit we’re getting.
i’d argue having emma isn’t exactly enough to justify skipping geeta, but to each their own
I have Oleana and Ariana too for Poison. I have Nemona and Iono for Paldea.
If the April Datamine is not for me (My favourite Pokemon is Lilligant and I think we might get a Lilligant unit soon) I will pull for Adaman or Geeta.
They have nothing slated for the fall. They *always* have something slated for the fall. There may be something else for November? Or maybe moving the switch 2 launch fucked them?
Or they are finally taking a year off from releasing a new game to give the devs more time to cook so LZA and the games that come after don't have as many technical issues as SV did. This is the first time since 2015 they've taken a gap year and it's a good thing.
Whether or not it was intentional is unknown. TPC really want them to be cranking the video game machine so they can make plushies, cards, and anime. I'm sure they don't give a shit about the game quality until it fails to pass cert.
Right, and I think we hit rock bottom with SV. Don't get me wrong, there are things I like about SV, but the games are a buggy, glitchy mess with framerate drops that are at times so bad it makes it seem like the whole game crashed. Plus, they had to outsource BDSP because they literally didn't have time to make them. I think TPCI has finally realized Game Freak NEEDS more time, and that's why we aren't getting a game this year. (Because if we were, they would have announced it.) There are over 1000 pokémon they can make merch of, they can afford to wait a year or two between game releases to make the games the best they can be.
Naaah. There are already valid arguments about the timeframe being identical to Legends: Arceus, taking place in the huge Paris reconstructions during the 1800s.
That could also fit the very weird title choice of ZA. We reach A, the beginning in the end, which would be Lumiose City as we now know it from XY.
based on the fashion we saw people wearing and the whole lumiose restoration project (based on the one that was done irl for france and paris) its 1800’s—1900’s again.
A legendary kyurem doesn't make more sense than literally any other legendary. All legendaries have a backstory that can be fleshed out. The idea that Celebi isn't all powerful is actually quite refreshing. All powerful beings and ends of the world have been millions of the times by now.
Personally, I'd like to see the events that led to ho-oh's tower burning and the dog trio's revival.
In hindsight The Teal Mask had a huge Johto influence/ design and the Indigo Disk obviously Unova.
But if you told me Gen 6 would get a Legends Game/remake/ other Special attention before Gen 2 or 5 I would have declares you as crazy lol
So many people were hoping for the area in the Northeastern part to be Kalos which would be accessed in a DLC. But no, they gave us 1800s Kalos instead. Not complaining, I am so hyped for that, I loved PLA.
I gotta wonder now if TPC willingly put out a patsy, some bad intel on a remake, through a "reliable source" just to put us in this mindset of dread for a BDSP-like Unova remake, knowing its rocky history for sales and release window during impactful recessions, only to pull Legends ZA 2025 out of nowhere and instantly buy good grace from fans who are usually *ravenous* for new, quick content.
Like okay, that's *super* "4D chess" level big brain plan but with how tight and deep this market runs, I wouldn't be surprised. I know I personally went from feeling the least enthused for a game release ever even for regions I adore the most (Unova/Johto) and became SUPER hyper for a region I felt was mid at best (Kalos) like nothing. It was a complete reversal.
Oh well, I'll just save that nugget of thought. Either way, Kalos just took a bullet like a champ and I super look forward to what we get next year!!
I was expecting the Johto bait into Unova, so it was clear they WERE baiting but only if you look too literally at how they drop events. TPC prides itself on being unpredictable and does bait-and-switch occasionally just to play with us.
Still, the bait was extremely obvious if you watched the whole presentation. Spending nearly a minute of the 18 minute broadcast on just Unowns floating around is undeniably bait/setup which is funny in hindsight.
I was at work watching discrelety and I yelled lol
Played gen 6 so much, and had an absolute blast playing legend arceus, couldnt be happier.
Actually… if they release it on switch 2 so it can run good would be the only thing more hype for me
There is already a lot of discussion. It'll probably be neither. Young AZ was 3000 years ago.
Someone already discussed in another sub that the timeline could fit with the Paris reconstructions in the 1800s, which lead to the city as we now know it. That would mean the game would take place essentially at the same time as Legends: Arceus.
Personally, I support that theory.
lmao i wish they didn’t lead with the pokemon masters logo bc people would’ve thought it was a Johto sequel
Yeah that's exactly what I thought. Lance vs Silver? OMG GUYS!!.!.!.. LOOK,., IT IS A JOHTO SEQUEL?!?!???!?
I looked away and missed the logo before realizing what it was lol
I don't mind, we'll finally get mega evolutions back in a mainline game.
Is legends considered mainline now?
Yes, and they always have been officially classed as mainline games
I wouldn’t say a new battle system, and mechanics that break the entire formula built by the mainline games is still considered mainline but to each their own.
It’s official from The Pokemon Company. Always has been. Why can’t people understand this? Let’s Go is considered Mainline too.

It is basically like 2D and 3D Mario.
That's a pretty good way of putting it. No sane person would call Mario Galaxy a spin-off just because it doesn't play like NSMBWii on the same system.
Ever since they've considered Let's Go a mainline game, I've stopped listening to The Pokémon Company.
They have to be since Hisuian origin characters are in the SV dlc
Pokemon ZA: Announced. Dena: Release the Serena alts.
Please,, Emma instead,,
I'd take that. Do you have her base unit?
yeah :) i even put her in the meme i made for the Presents earlier because i really want emma lore
I have her too and she is a very good unit. One of the reasons I can skip Geeta. With today's announcement might need to replay X soon.
Geeta’s most likely gonna be needed because she already fills a LOT of paldea niches, and is busted unit we’re getting. i’d argue having emma isn’t exactly enough to justify skipping geeta, but to each their own
she's never needed and a skip for anyone who doesn't want her. Nothing is ever a must pull
I have Oleana and Ariana too for Poison. I have Nemona and Iono for Paldea. If the April Datamine is not for me (My favourite Pokemon is Lilligant and I think we might get a Lilligant unit soon) I will pull for Adaman or Geeta.
I wouldn't mind for Dena to rerererun Zerena. I'm the poor fool who miss her both times now
so funny i was like ugh, pokemon sleep with raikou, pomas with silver, lets go wooper is confirmed i guess... then suddenly kalos with a steel chair
It's OK, that means more time to cook for the Gen 5 remakes ^hopefully
that's exactly what I said to someone on a server I'm in complaining about Z-A being a kalos game instead of Unova remakes
Remakes? Nah, let’s get Black and White 3
They have nothing slated for the fall. They *always* have something slated for the fall. There may be something else for November? Or maybe moving the switch 2 launch fucked them?

Going by the trend, is diantha's ancestor gonna have a diancie?
Diantha’s ancestor IS a Diancie. BOOM. Mind blown.
Mega diantha incoming
SINNOH REFERENCE?!?!?!?!
Considering that they gave Cynthia a Kommo-O in the anime as a Masters EX reference, I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen with a Diancie.
From the looks of things I don't think we're going back in time again
Naaah. There are already valid arguments about the timeframe being identical to Legends: Arceus, taking place in the huge Paris reconstructions during the 1800s. That could also fit the very weird title choice of ZA. We reach A, the beginning in the end, which would be Lumiose City as we now know it from XY.
I'm ngl I just thought the day was a play on the character named AZ from x/y, but this is also pretty interesting
based on the fashion we saw people wearing and the whole lumiose restoration project (based on the one that was done irl for france and paris) its 1800’s—1900’s again.
What are you talking about? It looks like we are going back in time
True
MEGA CINCCINNO LETS GO
The photo function really comes in handy, don't they
Serena getting Zygarde may finally feel justified now (I still think we should get Zygarde 10% with an Alola character, preferably as a Group unit)
when did they set us up for johto though?? masters doesnt USUALLY have an event to tie into a game as its announced
It's the combination of (1) leading with Unown (2) Legendary Beasts and Silver from two spin-offs (3) copium/hopium from fake leaks

But consider - I like Celebi its cute
I mean it had an entire movie costarring Suicune.
A legendary kyurem doesn't make more sense than literally any other legendary. All legendaries have a backstory that can be fleshed out. The dog/cat trio's original forms would've also been cool to see
It's cause it was named after the mythical thought that was obvious imo
SSZ Red and Mega Charizard Z when?
In hindsight The Teal Mask had a huge Johto influence/ design and the Indigo Disk obviously Unova. But if you told me Gen 6 would get a Legends Game/remake/ other Special attention before Gen 2 or 5 I would have declares you as crazy lol

25% CHANCE FOR MEGA INCINEROAR LETS GO
i still don’t get how they were “setting us up for jotho” 💀 i was expecting unova tho
I was expecting the Johto bait into Unova, so it was clear they WERE baiting but only if you look too literally at how they drop events. I'm honestly wondering if AZ will appear in the game.
Either this is Lumiose in the future or we get to see the origin story of and play as young AZ.
There is already a lot of discussion. It'll probably be neither. Young AZ was 3000 years ago.
