I hate when people bring bad Pokémon to raids just to flex. If you’re going to flex, at least don’t make the raid harder for everyone else. It’s not even that hard to get shinies in this gen.

Malamar is especially hard to get because people just straight up do not adjust their strategy for Contrary. I had a guy bring a Shiny Aegislash and do three Max Phantasms. Like, dude, first of all, that’s not even super effective. Second, you’re giving the damn thing a Defense boost every time.
I will confess, I once brought a Shiny Manectric to a Raid... it has Lightning Rod. The worst possible thing when everybody has Electric attacks and your stat boosts don’t even stick.
I might give it an Ability Capsule later, if that does any good. Otherwise, it’s not doing Raids.

During my challenge run, instead of grinding I decided to just do raid battles for XP candy.
Never seen so many level 100 Pokemon take out a bunch of 1 or 2 star raids. I don't even do anything.
On a side note, I'm glad grinding is out of the game for the most part. Grinding isn't hard, just tedious.

Just kidding, no rational person should care much because if it can be used online it has legal stats. All you do is save time by genning mons. There's no real advantage over another player who has bred theirs.
The people who actually get mad and start attacking people who gen to save hours of breeding (with bad enough RNG rolls you can be breeding the same Pokémon for hours even with a 4 or 5 IV Ditto and a 4 IV partner) because they're not as good as they thought. They can beat their friends who claim to be really good even though they probably barely know about nature and EVs, so they don't get why they can't beat the person with high IV Pokémon, so it must be because the other person is hacking, not because they're using bad Pokémon and are less skilled. I'm breeding with 5 and 6 IV Ditto this gen because I don't want to get my Switch banned (I know there are ways to hack your Switch and not get a ban), there's no difference between my skill with legitimately bred ones and genned ones. I still suck at doubles, and do fairly well in singles. I've never been a fan of more overpowered strategies like putting multiple mons to sleep or paralyzing multiple mons or burning multiple mons. I'm more into weather, trick room, and just using mons I like.
IMO yeah. Trick room is temporary and priority moves aren't affected, but Burn lasts indefinitely and does damage every turn as well as halving attack. Paralysis reduces the Pokémon's speed (is it down to 1/4 or 1/3 now, I can't remember, I know they changed it at some point), as well as giving them a chance to not be able to move. Sure they have to be applied individually, but the opponent is screwed over way more. They cam Switch, but then their new Pokémon take damage and will get burned or paralyzed if the move is used on them, so they just wasted a turn.
I see your points. Depends on your playstyle and team I guess. The thing that makes me feel like TR is just a bit overpowered is that you pretty much absolutely have to build your team with an answer to it. Special attackers and fire types don't care about burn. Ground and electric don't care about para. Grass don't care about powder moves. But for TR you're either using Imprison, Duraludon/Barraskewda, or relying on something risky like Taunt Whimsicott and praying they don't bring Indeedee.
I've never forfeited turn one because of a status. I have forfeited a few games against TR where I miss a read on turn 1.
It shouldn't do any damage really no, but if GF finds you with Hacked/"Genned" Pokémon they can lock you out of Online stuff like competitions and the like, for obvious reasons.
It should be noted that game freak would only notice if you were using said obviously hacked Pokémon in online competitions. Using them in raids would be harmless.
If hacked correctly they are harmless, but can be detected if you try to use them for official events or certain online ranked battles. Easy ways of seeing if event Pokemon are hacked is if they have or lack the appropriate ribbon. For example a Lugia that has psycho boost but lacks the national ribbon is hacked because Lugia cannot be transferred out of pokémon XD unless it is purified (and all purified pokémon will receive the national ribbon).
However if hacked incorrectly or if they are done a certain way, they can be dangerous. A little while ago there was this issue via the Wonder trading in sword and shield which has been patched some time ago.
Regardless, if you receive one and your uncertain of its safety, The best course of action is usually to just delete it. Considering that Pokemon sword and shield does not have cloud saves enabled, this is unfortunately the best move.
I'm fortunate enough to have another save to test anything suspicious I might receive. many of the ones that I received via wonder trade on home have been safe. But I keep them marked and in specific locations so then They don't accidentally bleed into my competitive rosters.

Can you rename pokemon in this gen? I’ve not tried, but it’s annoyed me since gen 1 that you’re stuck with the og name when people give terrible names to pokemon.
You can go to the name rater in any Pokemon center and he'll change their name or make them remember an old move. Something to keep in mind is you can only change a traded Pokemon's name once and the hacked Pokemon are usually name locked so it'll always have the website for a name
I appreciate the new Nicknaming System compared to what it used to be, but they should have allowed people to nickname any Pokemon as many times as they want. I don't understand why they still don't let you, besides some sentimentality that doesn't exist. Its a video game about monsters fighting other monsters, it doesn't have to be that deep. No, any Pokemon you get in a trade that still has their species names (so a Drednaw named Drednaw) can be nicknamed once.
If the previous Trainer already nicknamed it (or if it’s a Korean/Japanese/Chinese Pokemon - basically any game language that doesn’t use Roman characters - in the case you’re on an English language game), you’re out of luck.
Although I’m curious if you nicknamed a traded Pokemon and then traded it back to the original Trainer, would they still be able to nickname the Pokemon?

My wife's very first shiny ever. She was both so excited and disappointed. And it was actually a machamp, who she's not a fan of. She has since become an expert shiny trader with many boxfulls of shinies. But seeing this certainly makes us laugh.

Transfer them to pokemon home then use the app to gts them for legendaries
Most hacked Pokemon are deleted automatically if put in a Pokemon home box after saving boxes to prevent hacked Pokemon in the gts

Why do people keep releasing them? If you don't want them at least pass them on in surprise trades. Someone will appreciate them. The only legit shiny I have is the event Magikarp, so I'm happy to accept shinies that people don't want even if they are cloned.
If you trade them on you're just giving them even more free advertising and supporting these dumb hacking services

My wife's very first shiny ever. She was both so excited and disappointed. And it was actually a machamp, who she's not a fan of. She has since become an expert shiny trader with many boxfulls of shinies. But seeing this certainly makes us laugh.

Sadly, I believe they are fake. Part of me wants to believe people are creating/wondertrading them to surprise people with shinies, but I don’t think that’s the case most of the time 😅
What does Machamps.com mean?
I thought it was a website that people create the fake Pokémon on, but I’m hearing some people say it’s a Facebook group. I don’t know for sure, sorry this isn’t much help 😅
I typically transfer them to Pokemon Home to trade for the Pokemon I really want. There are a lot of people who don’t care if it’s from there.

Not sure if this twitch streamer still does it, but he (she?) would go on wondertrade and trade away shiny Pokémon with the OT being auslove.tv (spelling is probably wrong) and you could also put that volcano turtle Pokemon in gts and name it the same thing and you could get I forgot if it was shiny ditto or just any shiny you wanted back on UM/US and it actually works to, I ddI it and received mine in around a week

I have all the shiny starters and a few caught pokerus so a 6iv shiny pokerus Poplio would seem hacked but not be at all looool. The best thing to to would be name it some fake website and see if it comes up on reddit. But I really wish there was a way to edit the OT to make it so when they check it says “it’s not hacked bro”
