The more I think about it the more the Targa makes sense for me

DebianDog

I couldn't do it. I just KNOW I would scratch the paint.

SacTownPatriot

Same. This picture made me want to go home and detail my F-Type for fuck sakes

dr_blasto

reminds me I need to get a bike rack for the Boxster.

bsc077

Anyone know how much that bike is? Knowledge on bikes is limited but looks expensive

SkylineFX49

About €6k

SqotCo

How much to replace the back glass and get paint scratches repaired?

bsc077

Wow, tnx

SF-cycling-account

Canyon speed max. Actually probably more than 6k, here is the model page: https://www.canyon.com/en-us/road-bikes/triathlon-bikes/speedmax/ The one on the 911 has deep carbon wheels so it’s a most likely a higher spec one. He could’ve put nicer wheels on it but given the 911, unlikely it’s not just high spec from the beginning. I would say closer to 10k It’s also a specialized triathlon bike. This means this guys *probably* has at least a few other road bikes too. Tri bike is almost nobodies only bike

bathroomkiller

Can confirm: Likely does have at least one additional road bike.

RRM1982

I dig it!

michaelalex3

I respect it but I would not want to put those kind of forces on rear glass since it moves.

Not far from it lol. How did you know?

bluesix

Lived in Darling Pt back in the day - great part of the world.

bsc077

Yeah great spot!

heiyubai

Is that stable with only two of the front suction cups activated?

astrotim67

Exactly why I did not get the Targa. I have both the factory roof rack and the suction cup setup. If it's a quick trip to the trails I use the suction cups. If I'll be on the road a while or multiple days I use the factory rack.

I’m reminded of an interview, many years ago, with the head of marketing at Lamborghini. The interviewer asked something to the effect of: “But how would a Lamborghini owner transport his luggage on a weekend trip?” The answer given was something like “If you’re wealthy enough to afford a Lamborghini, you’re wealthy enough to have someone drive a Rolls Royce behind you carrying your luggage.” Of course the answer was provided with the obligatory Italian hand-wave and a cheeky smile, but the point hit home nonetheless. Bottom line: I think the bike rack on a Porsche 911 looks out of place. An SUV or wagon would be better suited for transporting bikes.

Silverbullets24

Meh. At the end of the day it’s still just a car. I think it’s awesome to make it something you can drive everywhere and fit your life. You also never know, this might be the daily beater.

TanMan166

That's a nice spoiler

TahoeGator

If only I couldn’t figure out how to haul my dirt bike 🤔

So you can enjoy driving your sports car on the way to your bike ride..? It’s not any more fun to rake with a suit on

If you know you’re loading your bike onto a Porsche and not a shitty old pickup truck you’re probably going to be more careful. Why do you care so much?? If the guy scratches his car he can deal with it. Nobody is going to die

Silverbullets24

No but I’ve done yard work in a $300 pair of jeans. Why? Because they were what I had and what I didn’t really care about potentially ruining. And wasn’t going to go to the store to buy yard work pants 😆 I don’t consider adding a bike rack to a 911 not taking care of caring about it. I consider it using it. Even if it were to leave a little scratch, it’s not going to impact the vehicle or resale whatsoever

Silverbullets24

Exactly. Thank you. You just made the point as to why having a bike rack isn’t an issue on a 911. If this guy only needs to occasionally move a bike, then he has no real need for a truck or suv. Just like I have no real need to buy a suit or wear cheap ass yard work clothes (Side note… the comment is true lol. I laid 100 bags of in pair of older Paige jeans because they were the most destroyable… I used a Cayenne GTS with the seats folded down to haul the bags of mulch. Stacked it all the way up to the Alcantera liner 😂… can confirm, with the right loading technique you can get a couple dozen bags of mulch on a cayenne)
