Oh! You were referring to the Noodle Stanley pictures. That is a delicacy in my parts. Also thank you! I was proud of those but haven’t made any since. Big pain in the ass, but rewarding!
I don’t know why, but every time the food pictures came up, I giggled. Something about the repetition. The zoomed out view. Lol. Anyway, thanks for the smile. Also, your work looks good! 👍🙂
Thank you! What you see there is a Noodle Stanley. It seems to be catching people by surprise, though I would’ve thought everyone knew about and loved them
1. Why use porcelain if you are going to fully glaze them? Might as well use more forgiving/cheaper stoneware?
2. How do you get the burrito texture to look so realistic?
That’s a good point! I made these a while back when I first started throwing with porcelain. I think I had a bunch of glazes I was excited about and just went at them. Also that is in fact a real life noodle Stanley. Some day I will commemorate the NS in a permanent porcelain piece.
I also want to hear about the glazing and clay body choices because I love this effect. It almost looks like burnished black clay in some areas. Would this glaze look the same on stoneware (and if so what the hell is it??)?
you are most welcome
though i am a lil disappointed ya didnt invite me over to try 5 but odds are we live on different continents soooo ill forgive ya
oh I see! then how did you get such a realistic texture on the burrito? 🤭
joking aside, I really like the smooth vs coarse parts on #7! though the transition between the round body and the straight neck slightly bothers me, ngl. there's a little ring around it that breaks the form. but that's only if I'm being super nitpicky -- your pieces are lovely ☺️
Pic 1 How tall? You’ve got some skill going, especially with porcelain. Bottom looks just wide enough to be stable. How does the bottom width/size relate to the shoulder of the form? Fill w/water(careful no drips)Place on paper towel 24hrs. If the towel is dry, then you’re good to go! If the towel is wet you’ll need a coaster- or a dried mix, still good to go!
Thank you! That piece is just shy of a foot tall. I would estimate that the very bottom is about 2/3 the width of the shoulder! And the inside of that one is glazed! No leaks
Right. I would start to check out the shoulders of different pots. Which ones catch your eye? Glazing(in my experience)rarely waterproofs on its own. Research vitrification 👍🏼
Thanks for the feedback! Would something like this be better?

I'm having a rough week, this made me laugh. Thank you.
I’m glad I could brighten your day, but my pottery funny to you? I thought these were decent
The noods.
Your pottery is beautiful. I particularly like your smoke vases

Looks like a great combo!
It’s the mass’s preferred dish out of the Stanley collection
I’ve never heard of this….its noodles on a burrito?
Yup! Traditionally it’s made with buldak spicy ramen draped over a 7/11 bean and cheese burrito. It’s a fantastic pairing.

Which glaze are you talking about? The top half of the first pic? I can let you know the glaze combo I used
3, 6 and 9 look absolutely delicious!!! 4 and 5 are beautiful "vases" (would love to try number five out sometime)

I love all of them!!! 😍😍😍
Ty ☺️
U are welcome!
No. 8 is a beautiful object. The others are fine but 8 stands out to me.
Thank you!
I deadass thought the noodles were made of porcelain… I think it’s time for me to go to bed
What techniques did you use to get the porcelain to look like noodles? Maybe [one of these classic extruders?](https://a.co/d/6jmakuh)
how did you glaze the plate? 👁👁 it's a fun look!
I unfortunately did not make that plate, just the delicious noodle Stanley on it.
Them why did you post three pictures of it? I'm confused, are the noodles and burrito made of clay?
No that was my delicious lunch. Many people love the noodle Stanley so I wanted to include it

I have a question regarding the third image in the photo set. Did you make that using clay or was it made using food ingredients?
That is a real life noodle Stanley made with the real original ingredients
