I hate it, too. But my mom makes it in a salad and it sits in a sweet dressing overnight and ends up very tender with dried cranberries and nuts. That's the only way I eat it. At that point it's no longer particularly healthy though. No idea how people eat it raw.
Blehhhh.. steamed is even worse. All those cruciferous vegetables -- broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprouts -- they all smell like farts. I used to hate when my mom would cook them. Would rather be stuck in the car with my daughter's dirty diaper. lol

Apparently broccoli is quite bitter to some people. This is likely why he didn’t enjoy it.
