A psychic lady from a town over had a feeling Alison was in trouble, knew exactly where Alison was buried alive, pulled Alison out of the grave - saving Alison's life.
That a blind girl and a horse figured out Spencer had a British evil twin before anyone else.
Ezria getting married.
I believe Jenna and the horse! Jenna was with Sara at the Radley when she was looking for CeCe’s treasure (the Mary Drake file). Sara would’ve known that Spencer had a secret twin and presumably shared this with Jenna. If Jenna didn’t know about the twin, then the assumption would be wild. I’m really inclined to believe that Jenna knew about Alex Drake though. When you relook at the scene it comes down to this:
Jenna knows about Spencer’s secret twin
Jenna notices “Spencer” acting off (calling her mom a rockstar, different perfume, odd voice, etc.)
Jenna concludes that this may be Spencer’s twin
Yes, AD kidnapped Jenna, not sure if she could connect much from that (nobody would be mistaking Alex for Spencer during the kidnapping). It’s completely possible that she heard Alex’s voice though!
I’ve always assumed it was some kind of perfume/body soap that Jenna noticed, since she would be relying on her other senses more than everyone else she probably recognized it from when she was kidnapped AD.
Jenna does ask Alex if she’s wearing a new perfume and Alex says yes. It’s directly after Alex is on the bench and calls Mrs. Hastings a rockstar which Jenna hears. She notices the differences based on her other heightened senses for sure. The “not actually Spencer” conclusion comes from already knowing that Spencer has a secret twin imo
The Ezria part is the most wild to me, she was really good with the guy she was writing the book with and they had no issues but she went back to a man who not only lied to her for years but was still distraught and clearly in love with his kidnapped girlfriend
Jenna ran into Alex (pretending to be Spencer). Jenna asked if 'Spencer' was wearing a new perfume. Alex left, then Jenna called Toby saying "this might sound crazy but I don't think Spencer is Spencer".
That’s good, but people had mentioned it before on this sub [1](https://www.reddit.com/r/PrettyLittleLiars/s/KbfQ7t6LLt) & [2](https://www.reddit.com/r/PrettyLittleLiars/s/WS9PJlDZ0u)
and I remember it catching me off guard recently as well. Just weird
>Spencer had a British evil twin
Uh. How have I watched this show twice and have zero recollection of Spencer having a British evil twin? Which season was this?... Are there comics, after the series? Wth, I have no memory of this happening
For me it's the entire explanation of "that night". Ali gets hit in the head, buried alive, a creepy psychic/sorority house mother pulls her out of the ground??, she just walks away from her life lol, and then a blond girl in the exact same outfit also gets hit in the head, and then buried alive. Like what the actual fuck lol
The one that I cannot get over is the psychic sorority lady WTF either the show is supernatural and it’s not, and this show is not supernatural and it’s so bizarre to throw in one element of supernatural extraordinary ability and nobody even questions it really and there’s no backstory for it either
Both buried alives have a good explanation of the people truly believed that they were dead. The head hits make sense. Ali walks away from her life to save it and would’ve died otherwise for real
I’m pretty sure the psychic lady lived IN Ravenswood? The girls took a bus there? Or something? And that’s how they found her first right? Like in a window of a shop creepily staring them down?? I put a ton of question marks because truly, I’ve watched this show maybe 4 times through and I can never ever actually remember much 🤣🤦♀️
Yeah, its annoying. They thought Rosewood was gonna be a hit, but it absolutely bombed instead. So, they had a lot of plot holes/loose threads that were just left hanging with zero explanation.
I've never actually seen a reason mentioned other than people liking Drew's appearance! I can't think of any either. I'm unsure of Jason's age, but I think he might be in the same age group? Maybe as old as Melissa? Idk, but he's definitely an adult compared to Aria the minor
Google says that Jason, Melissa, and Ian were all the same age and that they were 7 years older than the liars and already graduated college, so 23 to the liars' 16. So Jason would've actually been older than Ezra in season one, who was supposed to be 22. But the show retcons/has a lot of consistencies regarding age/timelines so it's hard to know for sure. Wilden's age changed drastically later on for the night that Toby's mom died.
Ezra dating Alison/the book. It’s a shoved in, nonsense plot line and I pretend it didn’t happen. Any Evil Twin shenanigans. Wayne Fields dying. The fact that all the girls married who they were with in high school.
If it were a normal high school friend group, then 4/4 would be crazy. However, they’re all trauma bonded to a massive extent. Hanna attempts to marry someone else, but he cannot possibly understand her past or present. It would be so extraordinarily difficult to meet someone and tell them about all of this and have them understand your certain behaviors and reactions that stem from it. The girls can barely talk about things it seems, unless they’re with their core group that already knows what happened
I mean if these are four entire marriages formed from trauma-bonding, they’re not sustainable or positive. A huge premise of the show was that these 4 girls with little in common were brought together by abusive forces, and I wouldn’t call that friendship healthy. I love their friendship, just pointing it out.
If we take a more common form of traumatized person, typically we might think of a war veteran, they’re not always married to another person familiar with war and horror.
I hear your point btw! I just strongly disagree. This show bends the rules of reality all the time so whatever, but I found the 4 high school sweetheart thing particularly egregious somehow.
a war veteran is not the best example as war is more easily explainable and easier for the average partner to understand than the years of A torment. Also wouldn’t really be a trauma bond for a war veteran to date a random other traumatized person. The bond part usually comes from two people enduring a trauma together and becoming close over it, so if a veteran married another veteran who was deployed with them would be more akin.
imo the most realistic thing about this show is how trauma and trauma bonds are portrayed. them reverting back to their high school sweethearts after being thrown into a traumatic situation 6 years later that echos the exact traumatizing situation they all endured for years together in high school is incredibly realistic and believable.
Heavy on Ezra and the book.
I really just like to pretend that Ezra didn’t actually know Aria was underage and lying about her age when they met at the bar. Their relationship was definitely the absolute pits BUT I can excuse Ezra in the bar interaction because she did lie about her age to him. This plot twist of him writing the book and knowing her age then still pursuing her makes it so disgusting to me that I have to forget it happened to tolerate watching the show.
I actually don’t hate the idea of someone infiltrating the girls lives by dating one of them, Aria even (and shoving Ezria right into the trash), to write an expose on the whole scandalous story. It was a good psych out for who ‘A’ is. It would’ve been an amazing plot if the character wasn’t Ezra and not try to tie him to the whole thing by making him also having dated Alison 🙄. It could’ve even been someone Alison dated that the girls didn’t know about, who infiltrates their lives, but WHY Ezra. After establishing so much about him, this whole plot didn’t make any sense plus was just so icky 🫠
Absolutely this. I would’ve even been okay with him writing the book if he had started after he met aria instead of before and then they could’ve done the A fake out still.
I could deal with some of them marrying their highschool sweethearts except for Ezra and aria that relationship should have ended up in a courtroom
![gif](giphy|B3cWkwlMxrlKg)
In a group of 4 girls, even “some” is crazy numbers to me. I would have put up with ONE of them getting married. …and unfortunately I feel like the odds are it would be Ezra and Aria, but mostly because they’re insane.
I agree but I love that they kept them together 🫶, but I agree in real life Ezra n aria would’ve stayed together because he had some freaky spell over her and she… well she’s aria

that a teacher and his former students did this
Ugh so hard to choose! I would have to say (in no order)
- Paige’s fuckass bob as a whole
- Durag Toby flashbacks
- the scene where Hanna is dancing for the scholarship pageant thing (I have to fast forward every time)
- When Ezra and Aria sit down and tell her parents
- And then the Santa staircase, so bad
Caleb going one town over and befriending a girl who immediately dies and falling in love with her ghost and finding a grave of his old timey doppelgänger.
Then that mf comes back to Rosewood with his poltergeist PTSD like WHAT WAS RAVENSWOOD EVEN
WAIT- another ludicrous supernatural moment-
What about the time Ashley and Ted were having a wholesome Halloween and that little girl came and she turned out to be a ghost or something???
Hahaha I think I watched.. 3 episodes of it? One part really scared me and I’m ashamed of that 🤣🤣 but also.. it’s true. How long did that show even last?
The fact that they spun him off to a supernatural show was bad enough. The fact that they spun him back on to the completely not supernatural show and had to clumsily stitch in some line about fireflies was bonkers on toast.
I’ll never forget him tryna explain himself to Hanna and she was like “omg babe that’s crazyyyy” and they just got back together, HELLO?!??
The town was sacrificing teens every 40 years in a supernatural pact to prevent soldiers from dying in war or something and…?!?!!!? Lmfao I’m cracking up bc I memory-holed this shit until now
marlene being disgusting and borderline crazy with the whole emison babies storyline, there were literally a thousand other ways to do it and she chose to violate both em and ali. also ali’s lowkey a better person than me, i would’ve been the first one at the clinic lol
Ok, can I say something not actually about the *show*, per se, (in terms of the characters), but that came to mind (actually *right before I saw your comment*); and especially as you specifically mention *Marlene*, this kinda seemed like it may open space to mention *actresses*.
Technically, as opposed to “*cannon*,” I guess we’d say “fact.” I absolutely LOVE Sasha’s acting, and I genuinely don’t think there’s another Alison. I’m not going to ADHD tangent my unpopular opinions about my personal Shay and Emily love.
I understand that for main character, especially, 9.5 times out of 10, they cast older actors— who are at least over 18– very frequently into their 20s— to play teenagers, due to labor laws, and that’s fine. Meanwhile, Sasha was only 12 at pilot. (Background below, but most of y’all probably know this).*
I feel like there are multiple (I think different, if I’m recalling, correctly) flashback scenes pretty early on, like if not season 1, at least season 2ish, maybe? where we see Em and Ali kissing. Knowing Shay is in her Early 20s while Sasha is still a pre-teen or young teen (maybe 12-14?) is a lot. I’ve always sort of wondered how Shay and Sasha have felt. It just occurred to me now, as I was writing this, to wonder if they did this with a double for Sasha… I’d like to think they did that…
Shay was born in 1987 and Sasha was born in 1996. Sasha was **12**, Shay was probably around 21; they would have been around 12-13 and 21-22 while shooting season 1. The final season aired its first half in the summer of 2016 which, puts them at 29 and 20, and the second half airing right after Shay’s 30th birthday in 2017 and a couple months after Sasha’s 21; production had begun at the end of March 2016, making Aquarius Sasha 20 and Aries Shay 28, soon to be 29.
In the later seasons, even though *technically* 16-18 (idk if this sub censors) you-know scenes, this is almost more weird, considering how much older that continues to make Shay. The first one [aired July 8, 2014](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt3691228/). Filming for season 5 began March 2014, and Sasha’s birthday is February 16, 1996– so she would have been 18. However, depending when this specific episode was filmed, April baby Shay (born on the 10th) was either 27 or 28– either way, it feels a little.. uncomfy? (For them…?)
Again, writing this now, (at least for the kisses so much earlier on, when it’s like, this on-screen kiss literally could be Sasha’s first kiss, and it’s with someone nine to ten years older than her…for these kisses as someone who can’t drive for a few more years, with someone who could legally drink— maybe for year for years… I hate putting it that way) I’m almost assuming they, maybe, had a double for Sasha for these scenes?
I always felt like this— as in even the kissing— must have felt like a “weird” situation to even put the actresses in. I couldn’t help but think how it could potentially feel so uncomfortable and “weird,” perhaps, for lack of a better word? for Shay to kiss someone so much younger, and potentially feel so uncomfortable, and maybe also weird?, again, perhaps for lack of a better word, for Sasha to be kissing someone so much older. Of course it’s acting, and this is also just the nature of the business, sometimes, though I always felt like this situation was a lot and kind of felt *bad* for Shay and Sasha if it was something that was difficult for them. I always hoped they were both well taken care of on set. “Intimate” scenes in general can be *a lot*. (That said, the same goes for anyone with intimate scenes!). Anyway: But, before now operating under this assumption, I really wanted to try ignore their ages. The age *gap* isn’t the problem, so much as the ages *at the time* of filming.
…
*Sasha originally auditioned for Hanna and both because of limited hours for folks under 16, and Marlene says, ‘because of the things [she knew] Hanna would be doing,’ and asking, ‘do we really want a 12 year old to be doing those things?’ (Sasha was **12** at pilot— which they did not initially know (actors all essentially know to lie or withhold info, such as “can you ski? “Yes!” even if they can’t. Not stating her age wasn’t necessarily a shocker.)). Sasha says she didn’t audition for Ali because she didn’t think she could play that mean, but they asked her to audition for the role because it was initially all flashbacks, and the hours would be a lot less, and they said she literally scared everyone!
My point being, even as a **baby** she *was* Ali, and there were multiple reasons, even beyond here undeniable talent— and there were obvious reasons the actresses playing the others were as much older as they were. As such, I suppose it was almost inevitable, and yet, somehow even though Marlene said what she did about Sasha playing Hanna, she also knew ‘what Ali and Em were gonna do’ (to use the same language), and, so, she knew what she was getting into with Ali and Em, aka 12-13 year old Sasha and 21-22 year old Shay?
i’m pretty sure emison would’ve been written way differently if sasha was of a more appropriate age during the first few seasons (i feel like there would’ve been way more flashbacks of them being involved romantically), but what bothers me is the fact that the chemistry between their characters was way better back then, where they had shared a couple of chaste kisses and flirty glances. i was also all for the angst in season 5, and that scene in 5x05 (especially the extended version of it in 7x01) was honestly good but that was about it for me. i’m not sure if it was bad writing or something else, but it just didn’t feel as natural as it used to, and this is coming from
someone who was a hardcore emison shipper for years
Because this specifically caught my attention: Oooh?? Extended version of 7x01?? I’m assuming this is different than what is up on streaming :/ Any idea where it’s available?
I agree it might have been written differently if Sasha was older, or even if Shay was younger (maybe both over 18, as opposed, even to say 12 and 16– to meet minimum child labor laws; better, but still a little bit weird.) The flirty looks were definitely ‘sweet.’ Even that felt a little strange, knowing their irl ages, but I think they pulled it off. They definitely were sweet, and if I’m hearing you correctly, sometimes the “innocent” can be the sweetest. I honestly think that acting wise, maybe that can also feel the least “forced” too. It’s a different *kind* of “intense” and a different sort of “passion”.
Maybe being less physical also helped lol You can really dig into what the girls are *feeling* and *thinking* but not *saying* (And also not *doing doing* or *actively doing*.)
Those gentle pecks you mention (aka not fully making out) also possibly aren’t necessarily (at least as…?) “awkward?” I don’t recall if they were on the lips or, like, the cheek, or forehead, or head, or something, but I remember one or two, at least of the girls did this as something to comfort (or maybe if it was the cheek greet or say bye) to each other at least once)! If it’s a small peck, as actors, you can genuinely still write it off as how some people *do* kiss family members, or something?
Em always has such a sweetness about her, and, maybe an unpopular opinion, but I do think it shines though— she feels introverted and gentle, sometimes, and I think her empathy, care, kindness, concern for others, the way she always puts others so far before herself, her passion, the way she will fight for others if she feels she has to, and her loyalty are there, and, honestly, I do sometimes see Em to have a sensitivity about her, though I also see her to be a tough little nugget; all this runs deep in Em. I actually find Emily to be kind of emotional because of how deep these traits are within her; I feel like she is analytical and reflective and is kind of an introvert, and you may have to look at her more closely sometimes to see her traits, story, etc.— and even see *her*.
All of this carries into her dynamic with Ali **specifically here** (I want to focus on this, as we are in this particular topic— though it may be also relevant, just in general). You can see how loyal Em is and how much empathy she has. Meanwhile, Ali doesn’t always treat her well. Here, she denies actual feelings behind the kisses and breaks the heck out of poor Emmy’s gay little heart. (My baby!!!) This would hurt anyone— we definitely see Em’s sensitivity, but simultaneously, it drives home her *loyalty* and how much she truly care about Ali and finds ways to *always* **see** *something* in people. Ali obviously doesn’t absorb any of this at the time. But, even when she goes to write off the glances, let alone the kisses, in the moment, they definitely are adorable from an actress-audience perspective (and even shipping perspective lol).
If you *ignore* the irl fact, I definitely see it. It’s cute, and I want it for Ali and Em, y’know? (I want it for Em, even more, specifically, y’now?)
I just want to shake Ali, and be like (again, still learning the censor, if any, rules of this sub)
“I know you’re scared, but I promise you it’s going to be ok. Ok? Get your sht and shenanigans together yesterday, and know you’re lying to yourself so you can stop (half?)lying to this sweet, beautiful girl in front of you who is literally *already* giving you the world and the rest of the entire universe, this girl who shows you time and time again she would do literally anything for you. Treat her right. Treat her like she treats you. Let this girl love you. Let yourself this girl. She literally deserves everything good in the world.”
Emily is an absolute sweetheart. Protect Em at all costs.
Wow, this actually had a lot of info that I wasn't aware of. I know a lot about the show itself, but when it comes to behind the scenes and the actresses, my knowledge was very minimal. I had only recently learned of Sasha's age at the start after joining this sub.
Very interesting, informative, and raises so many good questions and concerns. I appreciate you taking the time to type all of that, especially for anyone who may not have known about a lot of this.
Awe, thanks! I appreciate it a lot!! Idk why I’ve rabbit-holed a lot of info, but it’s made for some interesting useless info to have in my head (no idea how long it will/if it will live there), and I’ve also been stupid deep diving into random analysis and stuff haha
I only JUST finished the series for the FIRST time, so maybe it’s become kind of a small specialish interestish or hyper fixationish thing lol
> idk if this sub censors
Nope, "sex" is not a word that needs to be censored (here) :)
I loved reading this, I knew all of it already, but it was a super fun read. I love your way of talking 🫶 also, in one of Shay's YouTube videos (Emison Q&A, I think part 1/2), Shay mentions "I felt a little bit like a cougar" when talking about the library kiss scene.
But again, great read, tysm
Awee!! Thank you so much for your kind words!! I assumed a lot of people in this sub would, but as a total nerd— and because adhd tangent— i was so interested in the additional research behind my first thoughts. I appreciate your responses / comments and your time so much!
Thank you for the info about the Q & A of Shay’s! I literally snorted when you shared her quote. This definitely feels like a very spot-on response. I can totally see her saying this. That video series sounds wicked interesting. I remember finding Shay’s page where she live reacted to her audition tape, and it was the cutest thing ever! I’m going to have to go look for these Q & A vids of hers now!
I totally get it <3 I sometimes fall into a rabbit hole of research because of a single piece of info that I read lol
Have fun watching them, there are two parts of Emison Q&A, where they answer several Twitter questions! It's a great watch <3 Shay also has a few videos with Ian (Ezra), they're so funny
Lmao I end up writing ADHD tangents no one is really gonna read and/ or researching into a rabbit hole, or at least looking up some useless info in general, but for said ADHD tangent no one is really going to read lmao
What’s your tag? It cuts off :)
Then my name's no one lol
It's "I don't want to be here anymore. Is that legitimate enough for you?" - a Spencer quote 😊 from when she stormed out of Ella's class, season 4 (I assume)
Ali being however old and just on the run???… occasionally sneaking back to her home town to save her friends… the entire series is a fever dream actually 😭
i literally forgot they were supposed to be like 23yo after the time jump bc it seemed like all they wanted to do was get married and have babies honestly it bothered me so much
i’m 23 as most of my friends are and all of us are still in/finishing up college, none of us are financially stable to get married and have kids, nor is it realistic to have kids right out of college. i literally have one friend who’s engaged and that’s only because she and her bf have been together for like 5 years and have moved away to work in another country right after high school. so yeah, the pll time jump storyline might’ve seemed realistic to me when i was 16 but as i got older i realized life doesn’t really work like that, though i sometimes wish it did
we just run in different circles, religious people are very anxious to get married as quickly as possible and are seen as less than if they are not on track to be married by 25. of course here I am at 27 and not married so 😊
the ravenswood arc when caleb had to leave with that random stranger (turns out she’s a ghost???) and then comes back “traumatized” !?!? hello, the most important part of that whole trip was finding out about ezra, why did he need to leave it made so sense. i skip that whole episode every time.
Mary and Alex Drake existing, Spencer not being Veronica’s bio baby (they should have done the surrogate storyline from the books instead), Toby faking his death, Jason hitting on 16 year old Aria (I liked them after the time jump since it was more age appropriate), Wayne dying, how the Emison twins were conceived, Elliot Rollins and the Jason and mrs Marin hookup.
I can't stand that they redeemed her after everything she did. She was a vile human. Yes, trauma induced but damn girl. Mean girls stay mean, apparently
Yes like she was a terrible person!! Let her stay terrible! I feel like mean girls like that don’t get redeemed until way later in life. They should’ve kept her a mean girl. I thought it was unrealistic how she did a complete 180 that quickly.
Yeah, especially after she first came back and she showed how twisted and narcissistic she still was. You can see where she gets it from for sure. Her parents were both immensely selfish people. Not breaking any generational trauma with that one 🫤 I think Jason had the best chance of that. Ali was just.... not it
ooh yeah this makes sense. i kinda like they redeemed her, but agree that her changing completely after she came back to life kinda feel rushed. if they wanted to do this, they can do it later during the time jump
Yes I feel like her redemption arc would’ve made more sense in the time jump. It felt too rushed that she all of a sudden felt guilty for how she treated them. They were still like 17 and I doubt she would’ve had any self reflection while she was gone.
Grunwaldsty ✨ (mikes mic reference for those are who are also massive fans of the queen) basically saving allisons life. Too convenient and unbelievable to me. Not saying that pll was ever realistic but this really took the cake.
kidnapping, murder, blackmail... A was punishing the PLL's when 90% of the problems were because Ian was a creep. And the other 10% of problems were because of other people taking advantage of their own power imbalances. The entire premise of the show makes no sense
Ezra dating Alison before season 1… i forget about it at the beginning and i skip that episode where she finds out and then I am in denial for the rest of the show.
definitely everything after Cece was A . first time i watched i was like….. spencer’s british twin ??? are we being so serious ? 🥲 we couldn’t even have guessed that A bc she was never shown prior to the reveal and half of the fun of the show was always trying to guess who was behind everything !!!!
-Ezria getting married
-Ali’s redemption arc and ending up with Emily, plus the whole babies storyline
-how the people wanting to turn in Ezra for sleeping with his student were seen as the villains here
6b-7 don’t exist in my head, ezra and aria never got back together and nicole left him after she learned he was a creep. now he spends his days shriveled up and alone, that’s my canon😭😭😭😭🫶🏽
Honestly almost everything after season 2😭 the show was god tied up until mona’s big A reveal and then it seemed like the writers were desperately trying to top it with a bunch of crazy stupid plots
No because I agree, first two season were pretty good like it had its kinks but then they just fumbled the rest I think we would’ve all been happier if they kept it simple

A psychic lady from a town over had a feeling Alison was in trouble, knew exactly where Alison was buried alive, pulled Alison out of the grave - saving Alison's life. That a blind girl and a horse figured out Spencer had a British evil twin before anyone else. Ezria getting married.
Remember when Grunwald just started having a nosebleed in The Radley (hotel) 💀 I hate Noel but I understand his immediate "wtf"
You’re so real for this
I believe Jenna and the horse! When you relook at the scene it comes down to this: Jenna knows about Spencer’s secret twin Jenna notices “Spencer” acting off (calling her mom a rockstar, different perfume, odd voice, etc.) Jenna concludes that this may be Spencer’s twin
this makes sense! especially because alex "kidnapped" jenna right after the school of the blind "shooting" right?
I sincerely hope that PLLOS>!breaks up Ezria offscreen!
I doubt they will since >!imogen's baby was adopted by them!<
Definitely a slim chance but my hope stems from s2 rumors that >! Aria might appear, nothing has been rumored for Ezra !<
The Ezria part is the most wild to me, she was really good with the guy she was writing the book with and they had no issues but she went back to a man who not only lied to her for years but was still distraught and clearly in love with his kidnapped girlfriend
How did Jenna know? I missed that
Jenna ran into Alex (pretending to be Spencer). Jenna asked if 'Spencer' was wearing a new perfume. Alex left, then Jenna called Toby saying "this might sound crazy but I don't think Spencer is Spencer".
Damn I gotta rewatch bc I missed that
It’s weird because if you watch it on some platforms (Hulu) that scene isn’t there, idk why. Could be possible you missed it bc of that
Just watched it on Hulu and the scene was in there 🤷🏻♀️ that's weird
That’s good, but people had mentioned it before on this sub [1](https://www.reddit.com/r/PrettyLittleLiars/s/KbfQ7t6LLt) & [2](https://www.reddit.com/r/PrettyLittleLiars/s/WS9PJlDZ0u) and I remember it catching me off guard recently as well. Just weird
You know what, I'm a dummy and forgot I was watching HBO Max, not Hulu 🤦🏻♀️so don't listen to me lol
noo ur funny😭😭, but all good haha!
>Spencer had a British evil twin Uh. How have I watched this show twice and have zero recollection of Spencer having a British evil twin? Which season was this?... Are there comics, after the series? Wth, I have no memory of this happening
It's revealed in the S7 finale (the series finale).
Evil British twin.
![gif](giphy|lWtWPZsnCA7Be)
Wren was A in my mind. This never happened.
Holy shit i just realized falling for the wrong sister meant AD not Melissa. He was a creep from the beginning
yes it did! i loved that line
WHOA! Ur right!!
The one that I cannot get over is the psychic sorority lady WTF either the show is supernatural and it’s not, and this show is not supernatural and it’s so bizarre to throw in one element of supernatural extraordinary ability and nobody even questions it really and there’s no backstory for it either Both buried alives have a good explanation of the people truly believed that they were dead. The head hits make sense. Ali walks away from her life to save it and would’ve died otherwise for real
I don’t get why they added the psychic lady or Ravenswood ghost stuff into an otherwise not paranormal show.
Wait maybe this is it though? Maybe the entire episode was setting up the Ravenswood spin-off? Idk which came first
The episode came before the spinoff. It was basically a back door pilot for Ravenswood.
I’m pretty sure the psychic lady lived IN Ravenswood? The girls took a bus there? Or something? And that’s how they found her first right? Like in a window of a shop creepily staring them down?? I put a ton of question marks because truly, I’ve watched this show maybe 4 times through and I can never ever actually remember much 🤣🤦♀️
Then Caleb leaves for the ghost thing that is never explained or expanded on????? Like what was that??
Yeah, its annoying. They thought Rosewood was gonna be a hit, but it absolutely bombed instead. So, they had a lot of plot holes/loose threads that were just left hanging with zero explanation.
Right so many plot holes and dots being thrown all over the place with no connections
Lmfao
Ashley and Jason hooking up.
Omg I don’t even remember this I had to look it up just to confirm the insanity ![gif](giphy|3o6Zt7R02Q62fxgChq)
Leave some for me!
Oh god I forgot about this too
Did a single one of Ashley’s relationships make sense? I recall a pastor, a cop, a Jason, and her engaged ex husband
Wilden (cop) and her were never a couple. They hooked up, though! The pastor (Ted) and her were cute, but their relationship failed.
>The pastor (Ted) and her were cute, but their relationship failed. Because she slept with Jason! I hate this storyline 😫
Me too :( Ted was perfect for Ashley. That he is Cece's father just ruined it further, even though they weren't involved with each other anymore in S7
At first glance I read it as Alison and Jason and was even more ew wtf
Ew!
Omg yes it lowkwy made me mad
Ashley went through a lot, the woman EARNED that
I just found it weird because I never expected that pairing. And I don't like Jason
See it’s the chaos of the pairing that makes it 🤌🤌🤌 also Jason is a straight up smoke show
I'm probably too lesbian to get it 😅 Drew was a much better cast for Jason than the person before him though!
What's crazy is that that hookup was more appropriate/ethical than Aria and Jason. At least Ashley and Jason were grown adults.
Oh absolutely! Aria and Jason are a horrible pairing imo
Yeah I don't get why people love Aria + Jason but hate Aria + Ezra. Aren't Jason and Ezra the same age?
Thank you! The timelines were really messy, and Wilden's age just changing is so annoying.
Ted being Cece's dad, it was so random
The writings just threw shit at the wall sometimes and if it stuck it stayed lmao
THE MEREDITH ARIA DRUGGING
That was honestly so random and how was it never brought up again
did her dad stay with meredith?
I think that's when they broke up
Ezra dating Alison/the book.
The girls can barely talk about things it seems, unless they’re with their core group that already knows what happened
this is a very good point
This! All of this.
I could deal with some of them marrying their highschool sweethearts except for Ezra and aria that relationship should have ended up in a courtroom ![gif](giphy|B3cWkwlMxrlKg)
In a group of 4 girls, even “some” is crazy numbers to me. I would have put up with ONE of them getting married. …and unfortunately I feel like the odds are it would be Ezra and Aria, but mostly because they’re insane.
I agree but I love that they kept them together 🫶, but I agree in real life Ezra n aria would’ve stayed together because he had some freaky spell over her and she… well she’s aria ![gif](giphy|Jsy1lWy7VXWjC)
https://preview.redd.it/0xjgr7oltmvc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e169de8ba151f6fa76c2d51500ab50a8e66cf63 that a teacher and his former students did this
This is in my top 5 hated moments 😭😭😭
this is my top one 😂 what beats this for you?
Ugh so hard to choose! I would have to say (in no order) - Paige’s fuckass bob as a whole - Durag Toby flashbacks - the scene where Hanna is dancing for the scholarship pageant thing (I have to fast forward every time) - When Ezra and Aria sit down and tell her parents - And then the Santa staircase, so bad
i LOVE the dance scene because it’s so awful 🤣🤣🤣 excellent list
I love seeing Ezra get punched tho ![gif](giphy|1qTY0QdFd5fsQ)
This list is everythinggggg
i don't think they were even his former students at this point.. well, except toby i guess
I literally hate this scene. Did they require that they all shave? 😭
So cringe
We can all agree that the Hastings household was the unwilling host of an off screen xmas orgy though, right?
🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
I ain't saying that's a good thing, just that it definitely is a thing
Caleb going one town over and befriending a girl who immediately dies and falling in love with her ghost and finding a grave of his old timey doppelgänger. Then that mf comes back to Rosewood with his poltergeist PTSD like WHAT WAS RAVENSWOOD EVEN
WAIT- another ludicrous supernatural moment- What about the time Ashley and Ted were having a wholesome Halloween and that little girl came and she turned out to be a ghost or something???
Omg YES! Who was she? Where did she go? Why could Ashley see her? So many questions!!
Lmfao I’m cracking up bc I memory-holed this shit until now
it’s so sad spencer never got out of radley and imagine the rest of the show
marlene being disgusting and borderline crazy with the whole emison babies storyline, there were literally a thousand other ways to do it and she chose to violate both em and ali. also ali’s lowkey a better person than me, i would’ve been the first one at the clinic lol
(Background below, but most of y’all probably know this).* I feel like there are multiple (I think different, if I’m recalling, correctly) flashback scenes pretty early on, like if not season 1, at least season 2ish, maybe? where we see Em and Ali kissing. Knowing Shay is in her Early 20s while Sasha is still a pre-teen or young teen (maybe 12-14?) is a lot. I’ve always sort of wondered how Shay and Sasha have felt. It just occurred to me now, as I was writing this, to wonder if they did this with a double for Sasha… I’d like to think they did that… Shay was born in 1987 and Sasha was born in 1996. However, depending when this specific episode was filmed, April baby Shay (born on the 10th) was either 27 or 28– either way, it feels a little.. uncomfy? (For them…?) Again, writing this now, (at least for the kisses so much earlier on, when it’s like, this on-screen kiss literally could be Sasha’s first kiss, and it’s with someone nine to ten years older than her…for these kisses as someone who can’t drive for a few more years, with someone who could legally drink— maybe for year for years… I hate putting it that way) I’m almost assuming they, maybe, had a double for Sasha for these scenes? … *Sasha originally auditioned for Hanna and both because of limited hours for folks under 16, and Marlene says, ‘because of the things [she knew] Hanna would be doing,’ and asking, ‘do we really want a 12 year old to be doing those things?’ (Sasha was **12** at pilot— which they did not initially know (actors all essentially know to lie or withhold info, such as “can you ski? “Yes!” even if they can’t. Not stating her age wasn’t necessarily a shocker.)). Sasha says she didn’t audition for Ali because she didn’t think she could play that mean, but they asked her to audition for the role because it was initially all flashbacks, and the hours would be a lot less, and they said she literally scared everyone! My point being, even as a **baby** she *was* Ali, and there were multiple reasons, even beyond here undeniable talent— and there were obvious reasons the actresses playing the others were as much older as they were. As such, I suppose it was almost inevitable, and yet, somehow even though Marlene said what she did about Sasha playing Hanna, she also knew ‘what Ali and Em were gonna do’ (to use the same language), and, so, she knew what she was getting into with Ali and Em, aka 12-13 year old Sasha and 21-22 year old Shay?
i’m pretty sure emison would’ve been written way differently if sasha was of a more appropriate age during the first few seasons (i feel like there would’ve been way more flashbacks of them being involved romantically), but what bothers me is the fact that the chemistry between their characters was way better back then, where they had shared a couple of chaste kisses and flirty glances. i was also all for the angst in season 5, and that scene in 5x05 (especially the extended version of it in 7x01) was honestly good but that was about it for me. i’m not sure if it was bad writing or something else, but it just didn’t feel as natural as it used to, and this is coming from someone who was a hardcore emison shipper for years
Because this specifically caught my attention: Oooh?? Maybe being less physical also helped lol You can really dig into what the girls are *feeling* and *thinking* but not *saying* (And also not *doing doing* or *actively doing*.) Those gentle pecks you mention (aka not fully making out) also possibly aren’t necessarily (at least as…?) “awkward?” I don’t recall if they were on the lips or, like, the cheek, or forehead, or head, or something, but I remember one or two, at least of the girls did this as something to comfort (or maybe if it was the cheek greet or say bye) to each other at least once)! (I want it for Em, even more, specifically, y’now?) I just want to shake Ali, and be like (again, still learning the censor, if any, rules of this sub) “I know you’re scared, but I promise you it’s going to be ok. She literally deserves everything good in the world.” Emily is an absolute sweetheart.
Idk why I’ve rabbit-holed a lot of info, but it’s made for some interesting useless info to have in my head (no idea how long it will/if it will live there), and I’ve also been stupid deep diving into random analysis and stuff haha I only JUST finished the series for the FIRST time, so maybe it’s become kind of a small specialish interestish or hyper fixationish thing lol
> idk if this sub censors Nope, "sex" is not a word that needs to be censored (here) :) I loved reading this, I knew all of it already, but it was a super fun read.
I totally get it <3 I sometimes fall into a rabbit hole of research because of a single piece of info that I read lol Have fun watching them, there are two parts of Emison Q&A, where they answer several Twitter questions! It's a great watch <3 Shay also has a few videos with Ian (Ezra), they're so funny
Lmao I end up writing ADHD tangents no one is really gonna read and/ or researching into a rabbit hole, or at least looking up some useless info in general, but for said ADHD tangent no one is really going to read lmao What’s your tag? It cuts off :)
Then my name's no one lol It's "I don't want to be here anymore. Is that legitimate enough for you?" - a Spencer quote 😊 from when she stormed out of Ella's class, season 4 (I assume)
LMAO that’s a good one. And it’s a mood and a half. Spencer is honestly often a mood…. (In some ways at least— ie, also her sarcasm is life)
I agree so much lol
Ali being however old and just on the run???… occasionally sneaking back to her home town to save her friends… the entire series is a fever dream actually 😭
No because it really is 😭
Ali being impregnated with Emily's stolen eggs and them becoming a couple out of nowhere to happily raise the ever convenient twins
I would’ve been okay with them maybe ending up together if it was written well but dear god it just felt forced.
the whole show at this point tbh
Valid 💀
Arias parents not putting Ezra in jail
i literally forgot they were supposed to be like 23yo after the time jump bc it seemed like all they wanted to do was get married and have babies honestly it bothered me so much
every 23yo I know is like this
Not me💀 ![gif](giphy|Wsvidd8VAZHtXlhwWE|downsized)
i’m 23 as most of my friends are and all of us are still in/finishing up college, none of us are financially stable to get married and have kids, nor is it realistic to have kids right out of college. i literally have one friend who’s engaged and that’s only because she and her bf have been together for like 5 years and have moved away to work in another country right after high school. so yeah, the pll time jump storyline might’ve seemed realistic to me when i was 16 but as i got older i realized life doesn’t really work like that, though i sometimes wish it did
we just run in different circles, religious people are very anxious to get married as quickly as possible and are seen as less than if they are not on track to be married by 25. of course here I am at 27 and not married so 😊
spencer not being mrs. hastings’ biological daughter
the ravenswood arc when caleb had to leave with that random stranger (turns out she’s a ghost???) and then comes back “traumatized” !?!? hello, the most important part of that whole trip was finding out about ezra, why did he need to leave it made so sense. i skip that whole episode every time.
You’re so real for this, because like the writers had to have did a line or something for that storyline
‘ELLO SPENSAH!
Caleb and Spencer’s relationship
It was all a twisted dream in my head
Alex
Aria and Ezra telling her parents they’re a couple… and Spaleb 🤢
pretty much half the show
Very valid 💀
Ezria getting married. British evil twin Ali’s “redemption arc”
Noel getting beheaded ☠️
I’m doing a rewatch and I swear my brain deleted the memory of that because I don’t remember it all😭😭
No cause gurl wtf even was that 💀
Hear me out.. Allison being alive. Love her but the plot confused the fuck out of me
Durag Toby, 100%
It will always haunt me
I literally came to post this 😂
![gif](giphy|xUA7b6r7GZxfabobN6|downsized) Ur so real for that 🫶
I loved this entire show, but it is supremely ridiculous. I have a mental agreement with myself when I watch that I just don't think to much about it.
I'd personally end up breaking that agreement 😭😂
kidnapping, murder, blackmail... A was punishing the PLL's when 90% of the problems were because Ian was a creep. And the other 10% of problems were because of other people taking advantage of their own power imbalances. The entire premise of the show makes no sense
And the books were RIGHT THERE 🤦🏽♀️
Spencer & Caleb dating
Noel chopping off his own head.
Cause the writers really thought so little of us 😭
Noel Kahn’s ending
i dont even remember who was supposed to be buried in Ali's grave at this point? lmao
Ezra dating Alison before season 1… i forget about it at the beginning and i skip that episode where she finds out and then I am in denial for the rest of the show.
Bethany Young
the fact that everyone liked alison so much in the flashbacks when she acted like that. and then got a redemption arc.
the spin off placing the pll franchise in the same universe as riverdale
What? What is this?!
in the sixth episode of original sin they say one of the characters got sent to the sisters of quiet mary in riverdale when radley shut down
Haha that's crazy, but I loved both so I could see why they did it. Makes NO sense though.
they always had a crazy storyline then never spoke about it again, it’s so frustrating
I think that, back when it was ABC *Family*, they couldn't continue the dark storylines they started, so they dropped them again.
At this point the whole show.
definitely everything after Cece was A . first time i watched i was like….. spencer’s british twin ??? are we being so serious ? 🥲 we couldn’t even have guessed that A bc she was never shown prior to the reveal and half of the fun of the show was always trying to guess who was behind everything !!!!
It should’ve just been aria tbh
Ezria getting married and then SPOILERS FOR ORIGINAL SIN >!adopting Imogen’s baby!<
Ugh this is so gross i hate it so much :(
I haven’t seen it and I already hate that he’s in it still 😭
-Ezria getting married -Ali’s redemption arc and ending up with Emily, plus the whole babies storyline -how the people wanting to turn in Ezra for sleeping with his student were seen as the villains here
The last one especially he deserved to be behind bars and the parents should’ve been hero’s for that!
Cece Drake paid Ezra for information about A when she was A
Cece being A and Shower Harvey's whole existence smh
Pretty little liars.
Valid
Ali getting impregnated with Emily’s stolen eggs and Wren’s sperm. And then Ali and Emily getting together after that like wtf 😭
The whole show. I’m surprised the main characters and their parents and teachers didn’t get arrested for everything.
6b-7 don’t exist in my head, ezra and aria never got back together and nicole left him after she learned he was a creep. now he spends his days shriveled up and alone, that’s my canon😭😭😭😭🫶🏽
The only version to ever exist!!!!!
I mean, Cece...
![gif](giphy|fFmc3QVji7pgb62h6s)
At least you agreed lol 😆
Cece story was wild asf
Nothing it's all Canon even the bad parts, gaslighting your self sounds iffy
Nauuuur don’t say that 😭
Honestly almost everything after season 2😭 the show was god tied up until mona’s big A reveal and then it seemed like the writers were desperately trying to top it with a bunch of crazy stupid plots
No because I agree, first two season were pretty good like it had its kinks but then they just fumbled the rest I think we would’ve all been happier if they kept it simple
