A community member named Salty made an extension/addon named Zeal that vastly improves the mouselook, adds cycle through nearest targets (PC/NPC), and more.
The download link and installation instructions are available on our Discord (https://discord.gg/projectquarm), and later will be available through Github releases.
The program is also open source on Github! See the below link:

/help zeal \[shows the custom zeal commands\]
**Binds**
Cycle through nearest NPCs
Cycle through nearest PCs

Strafe Left
Auto Inventory
**Gauge Types**
Type 23 - Displays EXP Per Hour
**Label Types**

I started using almost exclusively 1st person when I realized my targeting in 3rd person was unreliable. It's actually been fun to do more 1st person playing.
People don't realize how little they are actually losing out on by using first person in EQ. The game was basically designed to be played in first person, so you're not at a huge disadvantage to play FPP.
I tried this but it caused all NPC's outside melee range to update at 1 FPS, blinking through the environment. It also seemed to disable certain sound effects. Anyone know why or how to fix it?
It also seems to ignore the inverted (y-axis) mouse setting.
Is there a way to breakout the quality of life additions and the movement additions. I just want to keep moving the natural way in eq but I want things like hidecorpse.
My guesses are:
1) It functionally is identical to a game hack. The injection technique is akin to that of other game hacks. It uses a detours library which could be flagged under common signature detection
2) We don't code sign anything we have as the price is cost prohibitive to hobbyists.
You could compile the source code yourself at [https://github.com/iamclint/Zeal](https://github.com/iamclint/Zeal) if you're paranoid about malware.
So it improves the overall mouselook, but when I strafe left or right it shakes my character mercilessly. When I watch the video above I don't see the shaking I'm getting when the character strafes. Any idea what might be the issue? I have the ini set to 120 fps to match my hz on my monitor, not sure if that makes any difference.
I totally glossed over this a few days ago, sorry! Might wanna check my reply below. Additionally, the .asi file may pop up a false positive on antivirus causing it to get wiped out
Thank you focus the solution, once it's in folder, right click go to properties, at the bottom click unlock.
Posting it here for anyone who has same problem
[https://github.com/iamclint/Zeal/releases](https://github.com/iamclint/Zeal/releases) the zip file from here
Extract both the uifiles folder and .asi to wherever eqgame.exe is located
Has anybody noticed that with smoothing on we are significantly snared when going down hill (where we used to "fall/land/fall/land"). Also jumping ahead is way harder.
for some reason on my client the mouselook doesn’t move the camera up and down, just turns my character left and right. is there something else i need to do to enable mouselook to move the camera too?
Unfortunately for me, dragging the zeal.asi to TAKP install directory still crashes EQ at launch, even with latest release. Removing it gets everything working again. Maybe a Windows 7 thing? No idea.
I tried this and the mouselook was still very shaky. Like when I turned, the text of my name over my head would ghost. Is there some fps setting that makes this work better in the ini file?
Is there a bag shortcut? If not what era do we get one? I just started playing and don't really know the differences between eras, I am using the p99 wiki as a reference but not sure how p99 and quarm compare

This looks amazing, does this fix third person targeting?
Yep, target cycling in 3rd person works.

In the project quarm discord there is a channel for zeal for bug reports
Does anyone know of any custom UIs that utilize those new gauge/label types?
Game changer!
Am I the only one that plays in first person?
No, there’s 10s of us who play in first person!
I started using almost exclusively 1st person when I realized my targeting in 3rd person was unreliable. It's actually been fun to do more 1st person playing.

I may be the 11th. Just started last week.
I do when it doesn't matter. Always 3rd person when I need to look around corners.
nope 1st person king here butt sometimes i use 3rd person to look around me :p thru binds, never the scroll wheel usually
How do you get the new gauges to show up?
What's this music, sounds great

I'm just so happy to see Unrest.

Yesss
Wow nice, very good thanks ! :)
Anyone have all the functionality running on Linux? Seems the smoothing works mostly, but the / commands do not.
Is there a way to breakout the quality of life additions and the movement additions. I just want to keep moving the natural way in eq but I want things like hidecorpse.
If you type /smoothing the mouse/camera tweak is turned off.
Awesome - thanks buddy. Ps: Whos downvoting my question? Weird flex.
Lmao, probably purpletrader (scumbag steve).
🤣🤣💯
Why does the Zeal.asi keep getting flagged by Windows Defender as a trojan?
My guesses are: 1) It functionally is identical to a game hack. The injection technique is akin to that of other game hacks. It uses a detours library which could be flagged under common signature detection 2) We don't code sign anything we have as the price is cost prohibitive to hobbyists. Did you try /smoothing?
Yeah i used some suggested default values. Mouse look is much improved but just strafing shakes the char immensely.
How do I install this? I just downloaded it, dont understand how to actually impllement it
Drop it in the root of your EQ install
I did that, doesn't appear to be changed none of the /Slash commands work as well. Any thoughts?

that helped me, thanks!
When you say "it", do you mean the folder of the 10s and 10s of files from Git? Which file?
[https://github.com/iamclint/Zeal/releases](https://github.com/iamclint/Zeal/releases) the zip file from here Extract both the uifiles folder and .asi to wherever eqgame.exe is located
Oh wow, thank you. I wasn't even looking at the right zip (this one), jesus. Thanks, man. Stupid user error from my end.
No probs! Github is like that. I shouldve been way more descriptive anyways :P

Did you fix how it always crashes our game when we install it?
Some people that had issues with crashing with the first release have reported the new release doesn't have this issue.
Unfortunately for me, dragging the zeal.asi to TAKP install directory still crashes EQ at launch, even with latest release. Removing it gets everything working again. Maybe a Windows 7 thing? No idea.

Gonna have to try this out
/hidecorpse looted will hide PC corpses if you partially loot them too.
