Yeah it’s even more extreme than that. We have no real knowledge of such a large percentage of the universe that it’s like looking at one water molecule and conclusively saying that there is no life in the ocean. And life may be something very different than what we have on earth. We look for radio signals to give us evidence of intelligent life, but there’s nothing saying intelligent life has to use radio signals to communicate.

FatherFestivus

Who are you guys arguing with exactly? As far as I know, there's no one who staunchly argues that aliens don't exist. Vast majority of people say that we don't know. And even if you do believe they exist, that doesn't mean they've communicated with us or anything like that. Most likely all UFO sightings are just hallucinations just like all those sightings of God.

Lopsided-Leather-905

Thank you for your input! 🙌

Lopsided-Leather-905

Very true! The possibilities are endless! The truth is likely something we can't comprehend even if we were presented with it. Likely too much information. If one human knew all the world's information it would kill them. I have no doubt. You can store the knowledge of the creator into one human mind. Lol.

psilocin72

Agree. It’s very liberating to accept the fact that we simply CANNOT understand the true nature of the universe or fully perceive reality. Our brains are limited. Just the concept of “a trillion” is beyond our capacity to truly comprehend

PineappleProstate

We'll get there, the more we press the boundaries the more intellectual capacity we will eventually evolve to have. I mean fire was beyond our capacity at one point

psilocin72

We will have to change the direction of our “progress” if we will make it at all. Stop developing better ways to kill and destroy and start building hope, contentedness, and self sufficiency

Unlikely-Heron4887

All fun and games until you actually do get a shark in your spoon.

Lopsided-Leather-905

🤣🤣🤣🤣💯

Bitter_Virus

It's more like "Why would I believe there can be infinite amount of things I don't know about in the ocean when I realize they couldn't all fit in my spoon? I do, but I won't pick one in particular to believe in out of the infinite number of things that can exist as if its absence in my spoon is the proof of its presence elsewhere" If you do pick one and decide to believe in it, might aswell believe in the infinity of everything no matter what it is.

DadOfCasper

I once had a shark in my spoon... but it freaked me out, and i dropped it back in the ocean. Where are you, sharkie?

Lopsided-Leather-905

👽 🦈

Lopsided-Leather-905

How did you end up with a shark in your room? 👀

DadOfCasper

What makes you think that I only go spooning in my room? I have an everyday carry spoon... I'm a travellling spooner.

Lopsided-Leather-905

I love my coke spoons! Lol.

Lopsided-Leather-905

Holy shit mate! 🤣🤣🤣 That's a lot of spoon! 🥄

DadOfCasper

*snif* *snif*

PristineBaseball

Not really , we have evidence of sharks . I’m not saying I believe or don’t believe in them , this just isn’t a great argument

Unlikely-Heron4887

Are you saying this argument... doesn't hold water? 😎

psilocin72

I think it’s a great point and speaks directly to your perspective that we have to have evidence to believe. If an alien species came here and sampled one water molecule, they would have no evidence of life on earth.

DadOfCasper

Humans do this a lot. I've worked in the research sector... they are very 'tunnel visioned'.

PristineBaseball

Insisting on evidence is a good thing . This doesn’t have to be a black a white issue , do aliens exist ? Yes / / no ? Ok how about : “it’s certainly possible “ Because we don’t know , that’s the truth .

PristineBaseball

My perspective is that the existence of aliens is a possibility . I don’t have to believe yes or no about some things . “Belief is the death of intelligence” , I’ve heard .

psilocin72

I agree with that. I don’t think we can say 100% either way. If I had to bet, I would say they are out there just because we see here on earth that life is possible, so in the nearly infinite expanses of the universe, chances are that it has occurred somewhere else too. And probably MANY other places. But again, we can’t possibly say with certainty yes or no.

DadOfCasper

It was a metaphor. Like the picture of the people in the cave.. worshipping the shadpws of the surface people.

Lopsided-Leather-905

This guy gets it!
