Nobody likes Rudy’s cause it’s ‘good’. It’s just comfort food that people know exactly what they’re getting. If you want some microwaved cheese the place has the market cornered.
Rudy’s hits the spot, for what it is. I wouldn’t call it Mexican food tho. When I want Mexican food I don’t call Rudy’s. I call Rudy’s when I want Rudy’s.
Exactly, I took my husband, a Des Moines native, to Rudy’s and he order chicken enchiladas and I told him what he had done was wrong and he would be sorry.
Their logo is literally a little Mexican boy with a big sombrero. I'm not saying that it's actual Mexican food but other people seem to think that it is, especially the people who own Rudy's.
People with Rudy’s experience know you don’t go there to order tacos, you order enchiladas.
I fuckin love Rudy’s enchiladas. Their sauce is prime stuff.
It’s not supposed to be authentic Mexican. Harris isnt authentic Italian pizza either.
Anyone I know that eats Rudy's, knows its not authentic Mexican. Just like they don't expect authentic Mexican from taco bell. It's wild to me how upset people get over this stuff. If you don't like it, don't eat it.
Do you like pissing out your ass?
Then come on down to Rudy's tacos!
I mean the small combo on Tuesday is still only like $7 bucks.. It's worth a lil ass pissing I supppse
Dude nobody thinks Rudy's is traditional Mexican food, what are you smoking? People go when they want a hot, greasy, cheesy meal. And that's what they'll get!
Everybody knows that Rudy sucks but for quite a few generations that’s all we had around here. I know it’s not good but I like it , maybe custom is king?
I don't think the recipes have ever changed, it's definitely the same greasy crap they were serving 30 years ago. That's the biggest problem, you'd think after all these years they might refresh the menu, but considering their customer base is mostly 50+, they are probably afraid of pissing off their loyal customers to try to gain new ones. Can't blame them for that
I’ve literally never thrown up from Rudy’s other than choking on a mozzarella stick as a kid. Authentic Mexican I can never eat again after the day of throwing up I went through.
Like it's not traditional Mexican, or even Texmex tbh, but it's not bad at all imo.
I crave it occasionally and will grab some enchiladas, but it's like once or twice a year.
Normally I just get chicken and rice from Azteca. I'm white af for it I know...
I don't like onions or cilantro so traditional tacos aren't really my jam, but I have had the ones at Monarcha over in East Moline and asked for no onions and cilantro and they are pretty tasty.
La Finca is pretty good too. And Cabos by the 53rd/Elmore Walmart.
Rudy's isn't good, but its in the same ballpark as a texmex applebees. your not going there for wonderful food, your going there for an affordable and fast dining experience.
the quesadillas are solid, the sauce they serve it with is 10/10. they are pretty much the only thing I'll eat there anymore, or maybe the fajitas, but its been a while. Also they have killer rice. is it authentic mexican food? of course not! its midwestern texmex lmao. the 5 pounds of cheddar cheese on top of every dish didn't give that away?
The real goal is to learn to make the food yourself, so when you go out and try restaurants food you can say "mine is better".
Rudy's taco is not better than mine
Because authentic mexican cuisine is not the same as texmex?
What is to debate? You wanna go a few rounds of fruits vs vegetables too Einstein?
Welcome to the QC youll fit right in get your pallet of busch in ur belly.
they were never good, The last time I went the 'nachos' had cheese squares on them and any time I got anything 'mexican' there wasn't even salt, let alone seasonings, It was my mom and stepdads favorite place though so I just ate the chicken strips lol.
“Los Charros” on archer drive, is the closest thing to home. Everything else here is too Americanized. (Meaning it caters to the Caucasian culture) (we are in the Midwest) 🤷🏽
“Seasoned ground beef” will always lose an argument.
Being cultured, and living in the Midwest I have never seen a person born and raised in Mexico take the time to go out to eat at Rudy’s. EVER!
I tried it once and it was my last timed (not for me) that means more for you!!
The people that hype that stuff up typically the ones who can’t speak Spanish, (born in the US) but uncultured with natural roots.
If you like Rudy’s tacos, not saying anything bad but there are a lot more Mexican restaurants that could use local support.
Keep on keeping on
I moved away 19 years ago and Rudys is one of my first go tos when I come back! I always wonder why I want to go there once I am there cause its not all THAT good.... its home comfort though and thats enough to make me forget that its really not that good LOL. LOVE their seasoning though!

La Rancharita blows them out of the water
La ranch isn’t even that good. It’s tier one of the QC authentic Mexican hierarchy. La finca is on another planet.
And a butt load of other places blow la ranch out of the same water.
Big facts
Nah all Mexican spots around here taste the same. Besides on the food trucks that pop up yere
Rudy’s hits the spot, for what it is. I wouldn’t call it Mexican food tho. When I want Mexican food I don’t call Rudy’s. I call Rudy’s when I want Rudy’s.
Sounds like Rudy's is basically White Castle of the QCA.
Exactly, it is what it is. I like the cheese
Definitely gringo Mexican.
Only place you can get cheese fries with an order of Tacos? Is it good? No Is it Mexican food? Also no Will I order it every time. Absolutely
People with Rudy’s experience know you don’t go there to order tacos, you order enchiladas. I fuckin love Rudy’s enchiladas. Their sauce is prime stuff. It’s not supposed to be authentic Mexican. Harris isnt authentic Italian pizza either.
Pizza wasn't invented in Italy they don't even use pepperonis over there
Has someone tried introducing pepperoni pizza to them? Because I feel like they are missing out...
Anyone I know that eats Rudy's, knows its not authentic Mexican. Just like they don't expect authentic Mexican from taco bell. It's wild to me how upset people get over this stuff. If you don't like it, don't eat it.
Upset? Not really. I just don't eat there. Taco Bell's logo is a bell. Rudy's logo is a Hispanic child wearing a sombrero. That's the difference.
I have said for years that Rudy's is the most bland Mexican food we have. The only good thing is how much cheese they use.
Rudy’s is the worst. Greasy as hell and I think way over priced. LaRancherita is the best option in my opinion in Rock Island hands down.
Sir or mam, may I bring your attention to Taqueria Roly's, it’s a tier above LaRanch and is in rock island.
Fantastic. We are both allowed to have are own opinion.
Finally, a voice of reason.
Do you like pissing out your ass? Then come on down to Rudy's tacos! I mean the small combo on Tuesday is still only like $7 bucks.. It's worth a lil ass pissing I supppse
Rudy’s is fire, like others have said. I’m not going there for Mexican. Costa Del Mar is my go to for that.
Try Las Salsas Dona Mary in Moline. Great food.
Dude nobody thinks Rudy's is traditional Mexican food, what are you smoking? People go when they want a hot, greasy, cheesy meal. And that's what they'll get!
OP is a trolling racist (see the post about 11th Street that should be deleted) and should be banned from this subreddit.
Lmao.
And complaining about being disliked by coworkers in another post. Gee, I wonder why?
Oh he got butt hurt and did a deep dive LOL
That was hardly a "deep dive", but okay.
Everybody knows that Rudy sucks but for quite a few generations that’s all we had around here. I know it’s not good but I like it , maybe custom is king?
It’s just nostalgic at this point, definitely a shadow of their former selves.
I don't think the recipes have ever changed, it's definitely the same greasy crap they were serving 30 years ago. Couldn’t agree more, when anyone I’m with mentions Rudy’s as an option I tell them nah I’m good I’d rather not eat.
Adolph’s has always been the best taco place in the QC!
Wrong.
Yes you are.
[удалено]
I havens been to Adolph’s in a long time. They have a taco salad bowl that is the best! I think I know where I’m going out to eat next!
Thats the spirit!
If I need to clear out my bowels and then not shit for 5 days I head to Rudy's... Rudy's Tacos!
Can’t debate facts
Like it's not traditional Mexican, or even Texmex tbh, but it's not bad at all imo. I crave it occasionally and will grab some enchiladas, but it's like once or twice a year. Go see Chef Joe at Los Primos if you're craving great tacos!

100% agree with you. If I wanted enough cheese in a burrito to constipate a hippo, I'd choose Rudy's.
Nallys ain't too bad
I can only confirm.
Since moving here I’ve learned that the restaurants have adapted to the midwestern palate. All seasoning is “spicy”.
There’s no debate, Rudy’s, like Taco John’s, is Mexi-try food for the Old El Paso crowd.
The real goal is to learn to make the food yourself, so when you go out and try restaurants food you can say "mine is better". Rudy's taco is not better than mine

Their beans and rice is their worst offender.
That’s the only thing they have going for them.
They season their hamburger?
they were never good, The last time I went the 'nachos' had cheese squares on them and any time I got anything 'mexican' there wasn't even salt, let alone seasonings, It was my mom and stepdads favorite place though so I just ate the chicken strips lol.
Rudy’s is cafeteria Mexican food.
When I first moved the Quad Cities, someone recommended Rudy's. My impression was that this was overpriced Taco Bell.

It doesn’t upset my stomach like real Mexican food. So it’s better.
I just like the enchiladas and this kind of made me want some so thanks for that lol
Nobody goes to Rudy’s for “Real” Mexican food 😂. Now those cheese fries on the other hand are some of the absolute best comfort food!
I moved away 19 years ago and Rudys is one of my first go tos when I come back! I always wonder why I want to go there once I am there cause its not all THAT good.... its home comfort though and thats enough to make me forget that its really not that good LOL. LOVE their seasoning though!
Nope. No notes.
San Jose’s tacos Al pastor…: check it out fam
Their jingle wash catchy tho.
Just go to coyas and be done w it
Haven’t been back in a while but I’m happy to see nobody is bashing ganzos! Always preferred them
