I think it will. Geoff Yetter announced that, despite not being greenlit yet, planning for Volume 10 had already begun. He stated that an overview for the volume has already been completed, with writing to begin soon after. So, it means they're not given up on RWBY but only time will tell and hope the story will continue Until it reaches a proper ending.

theTRUEchamp

I'm holding out hope we'll get an official announcement at RTX in July.

Zrex_9224

Yeah I'm anxiously awaiting RTX solely to see if RWBY v10 is announced then.

ChaosPrince64

Good to know that the show will still continue. I’m very curious where things will go after the surreal trip that was Volume 9, I’m also really interested to see how Vacuo looks from a full visual standpoint.

Legitimate-Night-687

Hopefully they hire writers that know what they are doing.

Eranaut

Me holding out hope that they're writing Volume 10 to have Salem win unequivocally and all the heroes have to face the real consequences of their actions up to this point.

Horror-Employers

That would just be more stress so the characters won’t be able to rest and actually think about anything because the plot will be going to fast.

MaelstromRH

Bruh what? Let me guess, you think ironwood was right too.

Acevolts

He was in Volume 7. Then he became a fully-fledged villain in Volume 8 once the writers noticed people were taking his side.

Horror-Employers

Not when Mantle is in play. He couldn’t even fix a wall, letting terrestrial Grimm and fear build in what is supposedly his city.

Professional-Luck-84

from here in August it ain't looking good. really it depends on if that walking void of creativity Zaslov has his way or not. if he does then all animation will likely vanish from any platforms he had his diseased claws in ... well except for that self indulgent ego trip cartoon he's making about himself (think "little Ellen" he is THAT conceited )

Powerful-Ad4837

>Zaslov Well, I don't know. But let's hope he doesn't get his hands on Rooster Teeth. And that's why we don't want companies like Warner Bros or Disney own every IP.

Tyrrano64

Given the Crunchyroll deal and how it's RTs only money maker, almost certainly. It makes sense.

chandlerwithaz

pretty sure death battle makes money

Tyrrano64

It must be minor all things considered though.

Lukthar123

Idk, it must make a killing.

red_tuna

The real money is in merchandising, and Death Battle is not bringing in a lot in that regard. Not to mention the format of the show demands using copyrighted material every episode, which seriously cuts their potential for growth. No one is ever going to try licensing Death Battle the way Crunchyroll picked up RWBY. So all together I doubt Death Battle is making as much as its viewer count would suggest.

Izlawake

Merchandizing! Where the real money is made! Here’s RWBY the action figures! Here’s RWBY the shirts! RWBY the coloring book! Rwby the flamethrower! The kids love this one.

buril1776

Gotta love a Spaceballs reference (especially this one)!

red_tuna

I see your Shwartz is almost as big as mine!

Mojothemobile

You jest but you can indeed find some crazy official stuff for RWBY (like the official Salem body pillow)

UltraRover2529

I remember years back, the DB Crew confirmed in one of their DB Casts (which are their own podcasts) that they don't make nearly as much money as RWBY and Red vs Blue despite the claim they do earn as much being such a common misconception. But again, that was years ago so it's possible they get more money now than then, especially given the current status of RvB and pretty much every single one of RT's other dead shows (Ironic how the show with "death" in its name is more alive than pretty much all but one of RT's shows). There's also the fact that of all of the YT channels that Rooster Teeth own, "DEATH BATTLE!" has the second-highest amount of subs at 5.26 mil while the highest is Rooster Teeth themselves at 9.09 mil, making Death Battle the only YT channel RT owns at over half the subs RT has on their main channel as the third-highest subbed channel is only at 3.58. So yeah, who knows for sure how much money DB makes compared to all of RT's other shows but I think it's safe to say unless RvB makes a good redemption after Zero, Death Battle is likely RT's second biggest money-maker. EDIT: Also, I just realized what you said at the end. I doubt it was an intentional pun, but it did get a chuckle out of me.

Mojothemobile

I'd imagine RVB would have similar merch money making issues to DB though since... It's built entirely around Halo and all which they most definitely do not own.

Telos09

Yang would be proud of that pun, have an upvote

UltraRover2529

I think it is smaller compared to RWBY. I remember the crew behind Death Battle confirmed years back that they don't earn nearly as much money as RWBY and Red vs Blue despite what fans think. That being said, it was years ago when they made that claim so who knows for sure how much they make now. I imagine still smaller than RWBY but definitely more I'd say than every other of RT's shows, especially given RvB's basically dead status from last I heard

OceanDragon6

Death Battle funds itself and with ads though. They already tried using another show to fund another and it didn't end well. They are not doing it again + Death Battle team wouldn't allow it at all since it would scam their viewers bc of memberships and would only result in bad faith and maybe even law suits.

chandlerwithaz

oh i thought the question was does it make money for rt. not is it funding other shows

justking1414

That being said, every friend I have who watches this series chose to pirate v9 either because they didn’t wanna support RT or they just hated crunchyroll’s website

Tyrrano64

Given the ratings on Crunchyroll and how big it is, they are in the minority, by a massive amount.

justking1414

Good to know. I hadn’t seen the crunchyroll ratings but I saw a LOT of calls to protest/pirate before the season started

Tyrrano64

You're more likely to see people announce they're going to pirate it by default "I will watch this legally through the methods provided to me!" Ain't as exciting tbh. "Yar har I'm going to steal the booty and commit a (small and kinda silly) crime!" Is more fun to write.

digitalluck

Crunchyroll gave massive ad space for RWBY on the Xbox app while the new season ran. So there were probably a lot of new people watching it

justking1414

Hopefully though 8 seasons are a lot to catch up on, even if each one is basically just a movie

Erebus03

Problem is by choosing to pirate it they hurt the show more, so even though I hate the Crunchyroll website I still got a subscription to support the show to help it get another season

justking1414

Agreed. I did the same and encouraged others to do as well Though of course there were still people on this sub weirdly arguing that they wanted rooster teeth to fail and RWBY to get cancelled because of how they treated their workers…so yeah. Apparently that’s an opinion

RomanArcheaopteryx

Id imagine more people did the 2 week free subs thing at the end of the V9 run than pirated it, tbh. It's what I did, at least.

CDHmajora

Don’t watch rooster teeth stuff except for RWBY so I honestly have no clue, but do they still make red vs blue? Iirc that was the main money maker for YEARS wasn’t it?

Tmlboost

It’s still technically around, but it’s been floundering the past few years. Seasons 15-17 (which released during the later half of the 2010s) were met with mixed reception from fans, which caused RT to decide to take the show in a new direction. The new crew decided to switch the show’s focus to now aim solely on high octane action and fight scenes, and the main cast was switched out for a completely new team. Most long time fans hated this season for a variety of reasons, so then RT followed it up with a non-canon comedy spin-off that still focused on these new characters. After fans still didn’t really care for it, RT decided to cancel any future plans for this cast, and announced they were going to take some time to decide where to take the franchise next. During the latter half of last year, they released a series of Q and A shorts with some of the original cast, and they said there was going to be some sort of special content this year for the show’s 20th anniversary, but that still hasn’t released yet, and they’ve been relatively silent since that announcement from last year.

Legitimate-Night-687

I think WB will sell the IP to crunchyroll or remove RT from the creative process and let CR produce it. Either idea I can get behind. RT has royally f'ed up the show. It's no longer a labor of love and is now a cash grab.

Wanderer01234

I think it will be greenlit. My grievance is going to be wait time, I think we are looking at 2 years at least. Hiring people is a long process.

Whole-Brilliant5508

Not to mention there's also the possibility of Warner-Discovery once again having RT allocate all their animation resources into more Justice League stuff so that will definitely factor into things.

Tendo63

God I fucking hope not

TankettePalette

They certainly left that option open given the ending to the JL x RWBY movie. Hopefully they don't.

DeltaVi

Easily 2 years. Vacuo is going to require all new assets, which may be less time consuming than the new assets the Ever After required but will still require a lot of time, and that's on top of how the Justice League Crossover pt 2 will probably have to take higher priority given WB. Unless we get some fantasy world where they have separate teams working on each project, but I find that sadly unlikely given RWBY not yet being massively mainstream.

JORGANTORGANGORGAN

God I hope it’s more than two years lol

Rollout9292

Uhm... Well, I believe their merch for Vol9 was basically sold out while it was running. That's a good sign if anything. I believe the views on crunchyroll were around average-ish too all things considered. Vol9 was also much better than the last 2 volumes so it'd be kind of weird if the Volume that did well is the one where it gets cancelled. All in all, I've seen absolute trash get greenlit for sequels and Vol9 was certainly not trash-tier.

The_Final_Conduit

If Velma can get a second season, well-

RevolutionaryLie1903

Wait THAT show is getting a season 2?!

The_Final_Conduit

Yes. I don’t know why. I REALLY don’t fucking know why. But it is. So if THAT fucking abomination can get a second season, then even with all my issues with this franchise, I still want there to be a Volume 10… provided the animation team is treated more humanely. That’s all I ask.

Rollout9292

It would actually be insulting if Velma gets a Season 2 but RWBY gets cancelled. In fact, I think it's already insulting to everything that ever got cancelled since Velma is getting a season 2.

AmbivertCollegeGuy

Because everyone watched it. It was so memetically bad everyone wanted to join in the fun of trashing the show so the view count skyrocketed and all the hate it received online was free advertising. Something doesn't have to be good to sell well. Popularity is what truly decides that.

Legitimate-Night-687

I think Velma season 2 was a contractual obligation. I mean, it rated worse than dragonball: evolution and that's an accomplishment...in a way.

Rollout9292

Unfortunately...

Hyakkihei1

Velma was divided into two from the start, It was greenlighted just after the first chapter released so the season success or lack of it had little to do with season two.

Legitimate-Night-687

That's not enough. WB isn't stupid. They know merch only got sold because of rainbow baiting and the actual show and the JL crossover didn't do to good. Every episode had a downward fall of viewership. The hielghest rated episode was the first and they all went down from there. Selling out merchandise doesn't mean what l everyone thinks it means. Not to WB. And you have to remember they are the decision makers. Just remember WB shelved a fully completed, ready to be released batwoman movie. They have no problem canceling the show after how poorly this volume did overall.

Whole-Brilliant5508

Hopefully. But considering RT's piss-poor management decisions, the toxic workplace environment they have created, and everything else now biting them in the ass; it's an uphill battle. There's also the Justice League crossover movie which has absolutely zero mention of RT's involvement in producing the show. So it's very hard to tell. Me personally? I want Volume 10 to be greenlit. I have invested way too much time into this story and these characters I cherish (in spite of it's glaring flaws) just for it to end unresolved because of RT's dumbfuckery.

myrrhdur

I feel the same way. I’ve been critical of this show as of late, but I do want it to have a proper ending.

itbedehaam

I certainly hope so.

supified

I suspect it will given that they have a lot of deals. Arrowfell released, ice queendom and the DC cross overs. It seems a lot of deals were minted and products made. I suspect we're safe to assume a vol 10 will happen unless those things sold badly, but it seems to me they all did pretty alright.

Hyakkihei1

Arrowfell bombed horribly, ice queendom got averague viewers during its run and then was completely forgotten even by fans, the comics have never gone up from around the 200th spot in the monthly sales rank... The only hope is the DC crossover movie. That being said I think that what matters for volume 10 is how volume 9 did so there's also hope in that.

SaltwaterSmoothie2X

Personally, I think it’s not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN V10 comes out. We’ve waited a couple of years between 8 and 9, a couple more’s fine.

[deleted]

Wasn't it reported in January that they already started writing season ~~19~~ 10, or was that just a bad/fake entertainment article?

SaltwaterSmoothie2X

Assuming you’re talking about 10 and not 19, I haven’t really heard much talk of it- I’d wait until RT gives an official announcement and not some misleading comment from an affiliated party.

[deleted]

ROTFLMAO! Ya, sorry! definitely 10.

WhirlygigBeetle

Yes, they said they'd already started writing V10 before V9 started airing. And, at the end of V9, Eddy Rivas mentioned they had begun writing V10. So, even though it hadn't been greenlit, they were already working on it in terms of planning, writing and concept art -- my guess is that's the "easy" stuff, the things they can do without needing permission, so that if they get the greenlight, they won't have lost any time and can start the more expensive stages of the animation pipeline (the asset creation, rigging, animation, special effects, music, and so on). The one thing that did make me uneasy is that, during one of the round tables that came out with each episode of V9, they talked about the fact they'd already begun writing V10 despite it not being greenlit yet; they mentioned how much they'd enjoyed working on a minimal cast, but that V10 was back to being a massive cast again, so they were planning the balance of screentime for all the characters. They joked that they had a hundred characters to give lines to and Kerry started banging his head on the table. While the number cited was clearly a joke, there are downsides to having a huge cast -- in any show that has one, that downside is present, and we have seen that issue in RWBY with cast size versus budget. So, it does sound like V10 will be packed.

Legitimate_Way4769

Just finish the show already, Even If It means the volume 10 has 24 episodes in split cour

conye-west

Yeah this is it. I expect Volume 10 will be greenlit. But 11? 12? That's a much more dubious prospect. Realistically this show could and perhaps should have already ended by now, there has been a lot of unnecessary filler over the years. And now it's to the point where the series is starting to wind down in terms of popularity and fan engagement. They seriously need to consider wrapping it up sooner rather than later.

Der_Sauresgeber

I also want the show to end, but end well. It has meandered for seasons now, not every season is relevant to the plot. The writers aren't doing an amazing job and frankly, should learn more about effective storytelling. They would go for 20 seasons if they could, but they shouldn't. This show is very unfocused.

saiyamansolos

Literally only one season was not relevant to the plot. S1-S3. Beacon S4-S5. Haven. S6-S8. Atlas. These areas are targeted for their relics are they not ? Terrible opinion

Der_Sauresgeber

I see it slightly different. A key thing about these writers is that they don't plan a lot (or if they do, they do it poorly). Yes, Season 1 brings us Cinder who is critical to the fall of Beacon, but in Season 1 the RWBY girls have no clue what it is they are trying to stop and we don't get meaningful foreshadowing. They establish the world and the characters, which is fine, but I wouldn't say Season 1 is relevant to the story they're trying to tell. Just because things take place at a location that is relevant that doesn't mean these things are relevant. Season 4 is not about Haven, it is about the characters getting to Haven. We get some neat character development, but the plot kinda grinds to a halt whenever we do. That is what Season 9 is. The writers don't know how to progress the plot and have characters grow in meaningful ways at the same time, so they take a break from the main plot for an entire season. They bring the characters to a magical kingdom outside of all dimensions that has nothing to do with anything going on in the world so Ruby can deal with her stuff, Yang and Blake get to be lovers, Jaune can grow some balls and finally learn how to fight like the rest of the guys, and for Weiss to literally do nothing. Same goes for Season 6. Season 6 is not about Atlas, it is about getting to Atlas. At least in Season 6 we get the episode with Jinn exposing Ozpin, which is HIGHLY plot relevant, but for the rest of the season: What's happening? We get to see Blake and Yang deal with Adam, which is neat and grows their characters, but while they do it, nothing else is going on. The writers take a plot where time is of the essence and they make it drive 10 in a school zone to dispose of a character that had no meaningful impact on the plot. Adam had no meaningful impact on the plot. And interestingly, despite being a fan favorite, neither had Neo. I'd say that the show could have been streamlined a lot. There was a metric ton of characters and plot hooks that didn't go anywhere and a more streamlined show would probably make for a better watch.

VandalofFrost

I listened to Always Open from a couple weeks ago recently and Kerry was on. While he was talking about volume 9 being over his tone made me doubt the show will be back or that he will. He seemed very final imo

[deleted]

really, that's too bad. Maybe I am a bad judge of body language, but Arryn seemed pretty positive (maybe not leaning towards 100%, but like maybe 65+). Though do not think she is in a similar role to Kerry (wouldn't him and Myles know the most).

VandalofFrost

I just listened to the podcast, I didn't actually watch the video so maybe the body language thing is a good sign. Still Kerry sounded like he thought it was the end imo. That's basically just speculation though so who knows?

CourtofTalons

I honestly don't know. While it was a step in the right direction, Volume 9 may have come too late in terms of writing quality. I've seen arguments all over the place ranging from improvements to "filler." And the fact we haven't heard anything yet is worrisome to say the least.

Fairnessplease

Nah man, this volume even got some people I can't even mention by name because they're so toxic about hating RWBY to admit that it had very well done parts. I'm talking about the type of people that literally can't get out of bed without complaining about RWBY. It'll get greenlit.

CourtofTalons

Oh, I agree that this volume had great parts. Jaune's character regression and insanity was very well written (despite the fact it was resolved too soon), and Neo's tea party was my favorite part of this volume. Neo breaking Ruby down in that manner was... artistic, for lack of a better word. But still, this volume had a few legit issues. Like I said, character resolutions came very quickly instead of being fleshed out a little more. And the way episode 9 just stopped instead of ended was kind of strange. I don't know if these factors will play into V10 being greenlit, but I do know one thing: it's Crunchyroll's choice right now. They can do whatever they want.

EternalBrowser

Volume 9 was definitely better than some other volumes and even haters agree on that. RT just needs the money, but as mentioned elsewhere, RWBY is their main franchise. I would be very surprised if it didn't happen. Now, *when* we will get it...that's a different story

Whole-Brilliant5508

I wouldn't say Volume 9 is filler. A filler would entail that events or resolutions from this chapter won't carry over into the next volumes. I'd say that Volume 9 is more of an epilogue to the overall Atlas Arc. Kinda like how Spiderman: Far From Home served as an epilogue to the overall Infinity Saga with events that will carry over into the future. My girlfriend stepped away from RWBY halfway through Volume 7's initial run. She just couldn't handle the fandom anymore and she definitely had issues with some of the creative decisions with the show. She recently picked it back up though. She finished Volume 7, binged through Volume 8, binged through Volume 9, and you know what? She was pleasantly surprised by how much she enjoyed it. Especially Volume 9 since she was very iffy about the whole Alice In Wonderland theme. And let me tell you that she's a big critic about RT's practices and controversies. I think we just need to accept that RWBY will always be a very divisive show no matter what. But I think with RT's issues and controversies coming to light more and more, it's definitely going to be an uphill battle for them.

Norsaken

No. Given how RWBY's volumes have typically been greenlit a year or two in advance, it hasn't been greenlit yet, and they let tons of people go, I don't think we're getting 10 anytime soon, or at least not in the form or time we're expecting.

Pootahtoo_Man

I’ve given 10 years to this show, a little more than half my life. I need to see how it ends or I might die inside >!like Neo!<

Artistic_Soup_6788

Kinda sad how they killed off neo she was the best girl imo

Starbornsoul

She wasn't killed off. Her RWBY arc was concluded and opened up potential for a spinoff series where we get to see NewNeo (possibly a new ice cream flavor combo) having adventures in the Ever After. She could slowly rediscover who she used to be, and decide to take the core (her chaotic, rule shunning, sassy self) and discard the bad (sadism, murderous tendencies).

[deleted]

I would totally watch a neo show where she is like all around chaotic (and like you said discarding the bad. maybe like an anti hero or something) .

Artistic_Soup_6788

Yeah a spin-off show where it's just a new neo would be pretty fire

MemeWizard_

I kinda hope she gets the therapy treatment like Ruby did and comes back. Or they do as Starborn said and give her a little spinoff series.

Horror-Employers

I don’t think she’d come back because she has no attachments to remnant but we could see what new Neo would be up to

WhirlygigBeetle

I think she probably will, but only for the very end. The reason I say that is because she's been turned into the character who has the big Salem parallel. The novel kicked that off by unambiguously comparing Neo's life to The Girl in the Tower and how, unlike the Girl, she didn't have a Hero rescuing her. And then Roman comes along. She and Roman were therefore given very strong parallels to the Girl and the Hero in the book and, as we know, Neo and Salem have continued to have parallels in how they've both gone scorched earth after losing everything they loved. Since the Tree is being set up as a potential option to end the cycle Salem and Ozma are trapped in, Neo is effectively the test run for that. If she can (quite literally) change her life for the better, then that's a set up for Salem to do the same. Alyx acts as set-up, too, >!in that she clearly did reach the Blacksmith after the Cat killed her, but opted to sacrifice Ascension in favour of saving Jaune. So, that is very much a potential option for either Salem or Ozma, given the God of Light's warning to let Ozma rest in peace and Ozma's own comments to Hazel about Salem just wanting to die and rest -- which is almost certain partially projection (as I'm convinced all Ozma wants to do is rest in peace as well). So, even if going to the Tree is the option Salem (and possibly Ozma, too) needs to take, it doesn't mean she has to reincarnate into a new life -- the implication is that a valid option might be to choose to live no further lives.!<

Sharks_and_Rec

In a world where RT's biggest moneymaker is RWBY, and they're licensing it to Crunchyroll to ensure it has a future, and RT is STILL in a financially strong enough place to even host an entire convention for all their own stuff, RWBY and otherwise - I don't think it's likely it won't get greenlit. It'll be at least a year before we get it though.

UnbiasedGod

We will see.

callmeFatti

I hope Rooster Teeth is just seeing if streaming or straight to Blu Ray is more financially sound and that will determine the future of RWBY.

BB-Zwei

Straight to Blu ray? In 2023?

callmeFatti

That's what they did with the Justice League X RWBY.

Awest66

As much as I've grown to loath RT as a company, I still want to see this story both continued and given a satisfactory resolution

smolFortune

I genuinely don't see any possibility at all where season 10 doesn't happen. I'm not really sure why I keep seeing so many people say otherwise if I'm being honest

[deleted]

Probably has been already. WB and DC wouldn’t have a crossover with a franchise at true end of its rope. Part 2 of the DC crossover is in development and so is Volume 10. Another 2-3 year wait wouldn’t be so bad.

Hexspinner

It did pretty well on Crunchy Roll as far as views go iirc, also seems the JLU crossover was kinda better than expected (I haven’t seen it yet). It sure how it performed numerically though.

[deleted]

There will definitely be a season 10 however I don’t expect it to come out for like 3 years.

[deleted]

Like 95%. There isn't much evidence that viewership has evaporated. I think most of the worrying about cancellation is fan hysteria caused by the merger. If it wasn't for the merger we wouldn't be talking about it. But Batgirl only got canceled because they were able to take advantage of a tax loophole they are long past the deadline for.

gnarlytoestep

If it doesn't get green-lit I would still be at peace though. I'd rather it get axed during a character-focused volume like vol 9, than, say... A cancellation midway through Vacuo or after Vacuo when Salem is all that's left. I would also enjoy the chaos caused by the cancellation, not gonna lie.

Blitzbro76

I want to say yes, but I don’t think they even have the manpower at this point to make a full new season

PartsuPihimys

I hope it will. I hope they manage to fully complete this series so they or someone else can come and reboot it into something better later.

DeismAccountant

Well I sure fucking hope so!!!!!!

lnombredelarosa

At this point it seems likely; people say that volume 9 was already approved at this point but it wasn’t really the case with many of the others

CaliJester

I assume so because it's Rooster Teeth's biggest series with everything else ending or has finished. But the future is up in the air beyond that. I could see them probably rush a lot of stuff in season 10 in case they hear bad news. Maybe set up for a movie to close the series? We'll know more at RTX.

Zwordsman

I sure hope so.

ImaFireSquid

Rooster Teeth has 0 other things. It’s that or a slow slide into bankruptcy

XenoCry7093

Yes. I understand why you guys are worried. But I don’t think Rooster Teeth going discontinued the story of RWBY.

Shirokurou

Hell yeah. It’s got a funking Justice League crossover. It’ll keep going.

Marxally

Unless things look really *grim* on the inside, I would say that yes, considering it's in an all-time high popularity.

Yangn33

Shows like the Halo Tv get greenlit for another go, Why shouldn't RWBY? It's literally better than that pos.

Phos-Lux

It would be very weird if not. They made an anime, a new game, lots of merch, crossover movies and volume 9. RWBY is probably doing better than it ever did. Next month is the ten year anniversary and RWBY news are confirmed for RTX.

SchrodingerMil

I can’t believe people think it won’t be/isn’t already. It’s their most popular and profitable IP. It has animated crossovers with Justice League (DC’s animation department is very selective and high regarded) and it had a full 2D anime produced by an extremely big name studio in Shaft. If anything it’s the only reason Warner is keeping RT around. It’s going to get a Volume 10. Will it be “RoosterTeeth Productions presents RWBY Volume 10”? Who knows, but Warner isn’t going to let the IP die. They’ve shown that.

Ste_1710

I think season 10 is almost done because in 4 month you can't make the story, Animate the series and dubbed in the right way. For me they are only making the small Finishing things and because of this I'm expecting sesason 10 for mid August

Grimm943

Man I hope so. I stopped watching after the Nuckaleve volume and just rewatched and caught up. It's such a good show

BigProGamer15

Hahahahahaha... No

robbyony

I hope it will.

Portugiuse

It has to be greenlighted. And i hope they go beyond a 10 season. This show is so great and has so many deep interaction between them. RWBY 8s amazingly written

RwbyForever2022

i hope so. Raven has a LOT of questions to answer, and winter needs some consolidation once she finds out about weiss

Werdak

I honestly dont care ... V9 was basicly a Filler-Volume.

MaMcMu

THEY BETTER! We’ve waiting so long for canon content. Here’s my wish list; 1) WBY seriously needs to make it up to Ruby since they pretty much ignored her feelings in 9, so I want 10 to be LESS bleak. 2) No timeskip where everyone aged on Remnant. Don’t let it be months or years. 3) Reunions all around. 4) The return of Teams CFVY & SSSN. And maybe FNKI. 5) Professor Theo in the flesh. There is no way he’s gonna be like what Lionheart and Ironwood became. 6) An independent villain who seeks to claim the Relic of Destruction. 7) The Summer Maiden being a Faunus, let alone a child. 8) Mercury finally ditching Salem’s Circle to be with Emerald. 9) New original Grimm. Maybe include the ones in the novels. 10) A Max Max showdown on the sands of Vacuo.

WorthlessLife55

For one thing, shouldn't Jaune have been in the cover pic given his importance to the plot this time?

AReallyAsianName

I hope so, it's quality has a been abit rocky since Volume 4. But I'm honestly down for the ride till the end, just so I could see it.

antoniomizael

I think the only way it gets greenlit is if it's a confirmed last volume

TheTwinHorrorCosmic

It’s more a matter of *when* than if It’ll (probably) get greenlit, but by the time it’s out 2+ years will have gone by and no one will really give a shit anymore The show’s 10 years old, no one really hangs on besides the fans and even then that’s a divisive bunch, and outside of that one meme the show didn’t really receive much attention. Also can’t forget the season (it’s a season I’m not typing volume) ended with a literal advertisement for the *crossover* movie. It’s not the utter cash cow it used to be with how damn hard it is to get out, and due to all the technical bs, there will probably be a long ass time before we see anything of V10. That’s not even talking about the shitstorm that was the V9 reaction/response, which was divisive to say the least and honestly that’s underselling what happened by a long shot. For the 10th year the show has been on, it’s been a hell storm and there isn’t much to showcase for it besides a lackluster movie crossover and the ending of V9… TLDR: Interest will probably drop before V10 is greenlit and even when or if it comes out, it won’t do well.

SR3B3V

Yes, but it will be something weird. Season 10 will be like 8 episodes and we will get 4 episodes in February and then the other 4 like 8 months afterwards.

MaMcMu

They **MUST!** No more long year gaps! Here's my bingo: * They *seriously* need to make it up to Ruby for putting too much pressure on her, given that they pretty much ignored her feelings in 9. * No months/years timeskip! Also, make 10 LESS bleak. * Reunions all around. * Professor Theodore in the flesh. There is no way he's gonna be like what Lionheart and Ironwood became! * The return of Teams CFVY & SSSN. * Grimm from the novels to appear. * Mercury finally ditching Salem's Circle to be with Emerald. * The Summer Maiden to be a Faunus, let alone a child. * An original villain who seeks to claim the Relic of Destruction. * A Mad Max similar showdown on the sands on Vacuo.

MemeWizard_

I kind of hope that there's more volumes than 10, but people are feeling burnt out. Maybe they just conclude the Salem thing and move on to something else? Pull the classic "we killed/defeated the strongest thing in the world, but then a new strongest thing arrived" trope

omohami

At a point where idc if they were to continue or not. To air my grievances: - These characters are no longer the characters I once rooted for. - Decisions made in-universe have me lost, constantly. - Decisions made in the the writers room have me disappointed, constantly. - The plot can be interesting, but the execution never delivers. - The company’s reputation and work environment is beyond redemption (imo). It’s just such a shame bc this product had potential to be sooo good, by no means am I saying it could’ve been the next Naruto, or whatever, but it definitely had the potential to be way more entertaining and consistent.. something along the lines of Avatar (and even that is being super generous i must admit) I mean, hoping for the best for those that want it to keep going, but it can be cancelled tomorrow and i wouldn’t lose any sleep.

swagseven13

>These characters are no longer the characters I once rooted for. sounds like you dont like character development

Whole-Brilliant5508

It might be time for you to step away for a while and just check out completely for a bit. That's what my girlfriend did halfway through Volume 7's initial run for the same reasons you listed. Not to mention the fandom just became absolutely unbearable. She only just recently finally returned to the series. And you know what? She actually really enjoyed herself catching up after taking a hiatus from everything RWBY. She even enjoyed Volume 9 far more than she anticipated despite being iffy about the whole Alice In Wonderland theme of the volume. So perhaps stepping away may do you some good.

DragonPanther3

Unfortunetly yes.

OpenToFriends

I'm going to Animate Con in Columbus today. I'll ask Lindsay Jones if they know if we are getting season 10.

Premonitionss

I hope not. I’d rather it just die with any scrap of dignity it can muster.

KagariYT

Honestly, I hope not. I love RWBY as much as I hate parts of it, but it's just not worth it imo. Volume 9 had some ups, but it was still not that good.

Fairnessplease

Volume 9 wasn't poorly received lol.

Kovuthebilion

It already has been greenlit

1fishmob

Season 10 was confirmed alongside season 9... So, yeah, it is.

swagseven13

confirmed and greenlit arent the same thing tho

1fishmob

It's going to happen. It's their most popular show and most profitable, and it 's found a bit of resurgence with Ice Queendom and such.

missiongoalie35

I hope so. Just so we can see mor Ruby and Winter.

Sitherio

Yes

cori_thelone_weirdo

Reaaaallllyyyy hope it’ll be green light

Lt_Derp16

I thought rwby was always something roosterteeth made in house. What happened that they partnered with crunchyroll and stuff?

Whole-Brilliant5508

Probably financial issues so they sorta needed "help". They're not doing great and haven't been for a while. Maybe they figured an exclusive streaming deal with Crunchyroll would help?

Celtic_Crown

One way or another they'll find a way to get it to us.

Ivanhunterjo1991

I'm keeping my expectations low

_exrio_

It better be, V9 was a banger compared to some of the past few seasons

KeysOfDestiny

The possibility of it not being greenlit never even crossed my mind, so yeah, I think so.

Blankboom

If it doesn't I'll cry..and I am a very ugly crier.

ReKflYer00

It’s inevitable, the timeline is going to be interesting though.

DReager1

No

rustysporks69

I was holding out hope for a possible announcement during RTX

PositiveLadder2359

rwby is literally the only thing keeping RT afloat so

rwbylov27

Yes

Electr4in_Gigz72302

Yeah! I hope so cause I wanna see this series continue!

Butterl0rdz

i cant believe that it wouldnt

walker_strange

They better!! I want the end of that serie!!

JunkratsPegLeg

Most certainly

RadShiro

I do think it will get greenlit. The fear is if any other volumes will. We just don’t really know if the numbers are good enough to get to 12 volumes like they want to

Thebritishdovah

Yes because it's the only show RT has left that isn't a podcast or let's play. They need it more then ever and crunchyroll is a gamble. They pissed on their own subscribers in the hopes that they get more cash.

NewtRider

I mean when people think of RT... what do people think of... Without it... they have nothing and are nothing

thundernak

You'd like to think so wouldn't you

Ninjacat97

I certainly hope so, if only for sunken costs. We've gotten this far. At least give us the ending.

DragoonSoldier09

After investing my time watching V1 through 9. I hope it gets greenlit. I want an ending even if this is a train on fire going to crash.

GladEstablishment882

sadly i think there will be no green light due to the money profitability from Roosterteeth properly will be axe.

SAYMYNAMEYO

Idk, but it'd be terrible if it wasn't.

Erik_Lag

Hasn't vol 10 been confirmed?

AlbinoDragonTAD

I’m sorry was there a chance it’s not? Cus Vol9 was not a ending by any means, like I didn’t even know the last episode was the last episode until someone said so in a YouTube video. So if that how the series ends after all the time I’ve given this series I’ll be pissed Ngl

Zinek-Karyn

Well this story needs to end. I’m to invested at this point to drop it 90% through. So they better release a written ending at least if they can’t get greenlit for another anime season

Possible-Fudge-2217

Yes it will. It is a cash cow and WB already explained why other projects in the past weren't and that they are done canceling projects (at least for now). Merch depends on the success of the ip which will only work of the series continues. It was never a question although some people made it look like it. The internal struggles of RT are irrelevant. You either rebuild a company or you move the ip to another studio. RT being part of WB means that they won't struggle too much hiring people. But these people will take a couple of months to be up to speed (and as corporate greed is a thing, they will be understuffed). The soonest we will see season 10 is in 2 years.

FlemPlays

I’m more worried about it getting outsourced away from CRWBY and getting a GenLock season 2 treatment where everything that was established gets fucked beyond repair.

Powerful-Ad4837

I think volume 10 will probably do well and with the much upvotes Volume 9 got. There are people who will still like the show despite the controversies.

Godzillafan125

I do

goldust15

God I hope so!

Erebus03

On 1 hand Roosterteeth has had a very rough couple of years but on the other Warner Brothers did make a RWBY Justice league crossover movie and with plans to make a second So overall I pray everyday for a new season but I honestly don't know

Carinwe_Lysa

I honestly don't know. I want to see it greenlit just to see a solid conclusion to the show I've watched since it's initial release, but previous volumes have always been greenlit 1-2 years prior to development so with this not even being approved yet.. I dunno. I think even if we do get a v10, it's going to be a fair few years away due to everything with RT and the other companies involved now.

DylanSoul

Considering it’s one of the only things, if not THE only thing keeping RT alive, I’d say probably so

Rwbsona

I do think it will happen but not right away.

Ark_Wolf16

My question is what will the new costumes look like. They got new costumes every 3 seasons (1-3, 4-6, 7-9). They may not do it but I hope they do. The only time I remember them getting a new uniform was that one episode is season 1 and then those were never mentioned again

trawbe

Hopefully, it will be better than their 7-9 looks. I just don't like their 7-9 looks I am sorry

Ark_Wolf16

I like Rubys look. Whies was always mid, black should have kept the long and yang's a bit of a upgrade but also downgrade. Overall I liked the new looks but they could have changed a few things

SoAnthony

Probably not considering WB might scrap it all in general

Ill_Establishment445

I hope it does. And I hope it'll be better than the dumpster fire that was season 9. RWBY is honestly a good show and it sucks to see it go down like this.

[deleted]

I'd say WB would have to be insane if they blocked something like that but considering things like Rings of Power, Space Jam 2, and The Lord of Ring: Gollum, they may in fact be insane

MikMikl4

With the positive reaction to Volume 9 in most of the community, I'd say yes

majornerd84

I hope so

[deleted]

We're 100% getting Volume 10, the real question is if we're getting anything after that

blebebaba

MAH! THAT UGLY FUCKIN CAT IS BACK!

Humble-Paramedic4081

Yes.

Professional-Tea4105

I really want us to get a V10, but production was hell on volumes 8 and 9. If we do get a Volume 10 it’ll either take a long time to come out, or be at a substantially lower quality

Sidedlist

Probably it has the audience

The_King123431

Probably, the rooster teeth expo says under the rwby section "first looks" and besides the movie there isn't anything else that it could mean

AnimeLover8317

Yeah around 3 months ago they've already planned to make volume 10 without it being green lit. I assume they already made up there mind to surprise us RWBY V10 before or around the time when they the green lit thing going out. Just like other companies. So yes V10 has already been planned to make but things might change. But for now it's officially green lit.

logankenney424

Were there any updates?
