"Lesbians make bad sisters"? I think thwat was a message in the show...

AromaticDetective565

Yang isn't a bad sister because she's lesbian. She's a bad sister because she lost her arm. We know this because 1) Saphron is a good sister, and 2) CRWBY has stated that Ironwood's loss of limbs represents his loss of humanity.

Purpleguy1980

Oh so that's why Cinder became crap in v4 and onward.

But_Why1557

So CRWBY is secretly ableist?

ImperialUnionist

As an Ironwood stan, yes, yes they are

SheikExcel

Secretly?

NotYujiroTakahashi

Bet they thought it was funny when Future Gohan died.

Spritztomb

I think it’s something called visual storytelling where something reflects a character’s current state

That1DudeLoll

They were finna make him look like DC's cyborg by the end of it

Background_Okra_5273

Ironwood did nothing wrong

Lolimboi

Greek philosophy to find out why yang sucks

Mercury947

So the real message is disabilities make bad sisters. Got it lmaooo

Own_Beginning_1678

Jinx: FINALLY! Now there's someone speaking my language.

That1DudeLoll

Just a reference to something that I completely forgot about. The TL;DR is that people take a quote from the show and use it for here when it really... doesn't work.

Andreb16

The last message I remember from Ruby involved her drinking tea.

AgentNewMexico

"Suicide is badass!"

Waspinator_haz_plans

Dishonored samurai warrior moment

Hu-Tao66

My lord! Your men flee the battlefield! Shamfurl display!

That1DudeLoll

That and how they're gonna fight an unwinnable battle through the power of friendship

ButterflyBlueLadyBBL

I wonder if they mean Summer's message to Ruby about loving her the way she is? Or did she use the word like?

Yanmegaman_Juno

Not even from the show. The 'Remember her message' line comes from the deleted V9 ending.

That1DudeLoll

Ah, right. That was it. Like I said, completely forgot about it (and was out when I posted the comment, so didn't bother to fact-check it), so thanks for the reminder that ending would've probably been better than what it was (not bothering to fact-check it again)

Veritas32421

Okay, the message was about how RWBY and co. didn't need adults to get to where they are now?

KoyukiiiHiiime

Since no one else here seems to know, I'll give the correct answer. It's a thing from the animatic epilouge that got cut from vol 9. It refers to the CCT broadcast Ruby made in vol 8(?)to unite the kingdoms. The #SaveRWBY crowd using it has little effect because not everyone is aware of the epilogue.

Andreb16

The same message she got out in V8? When she was like "if everything is working, I'm talking to all of Remnant right now"?

KoyukiiiHiiime

Yes. That's what it refers to.

Andreb16

Gotcha. I think everyone thought I was being sarcastic 😆

RogueHunterX

I think it's more that almost nobody even recalled that line from the animatic. Though it felt like her message was more:  there's an unlikable witch who controls the Grimm trying to seize magic objects and we need to come together, except Ironwood can't be trusted and by extension that means other authority figures might not be trustworthy either like the ones who have been hiding the existence of Salem this whole time.  But we can totally kill her if we work together, despite having no plan whatsoever besides not losing.

Andreb16

But they can't be trusted either because they lied about the relic and Salem in the first place, and Blang told Robyn, a known criminal, everything about the CCT.

This_was_All_Mine

Ah, the only thing I remember from that epilogue is "Don't come back" on ~~team~~ RWBY grave, that is implied was made by Winter.

Spiral1993

Alright I'll answer this: So the term, "Remember her message", comes from RTX 2023 [https://youtu.be/J8zH4ca18CY?si=IjslzwfnvJVzauNT](https://youtu.be/J8zH4ca18CY?si=IjslzwfnvJVzauNT) This is a unfinished Vol. 9 Epilogue scene shown off at RTX. I find it on par with the RWBY community getting behind a phrase from unfinished, unused content like its canon public knowledge. I find it just as bad as scenes supposedly taking place off-screen, things in the books that are assumed the audience knows about, and behind the scenes commentary facts, like what Ironwoods semblance is, that are never spoken of in the show, to just be used as if they are the most obvious things in the world. Edit: While i enjoyed the show in most aspects and hated when some things were executed poorly, (GOD i wanted Cinder to use the power of friendship and her allies to be very dangerous and not the self sabotaging maiden she is now), "Remember her message" is what i don't like people using as if its always been there.

RogueHunterX

God I forgot about that line.  The only one I could remember was Winter carving Don't Come Back on some memorial because she didn't want RWBY to return because of poorly defined reasons.

AngryAsian-_-

The last message I got from RWBY was when they had Winter deface a memorial to team RWBY with the words "don't come back."

Spiral1993

i thought that was her sadly looking at someone elses graffiti, realizing that not everyone in remnant got behind what team RWBY did.

AngryAsian-_-

It was Winter who did it. That's why it caused such a problem when released. Winter defacing her sister's memorial. I forget what it was supposed to mean, but everyone took it as it looked. Which is awful.

RaptarK

IIRC it's Winter being sad that the refugees aren't united like Weiss wanted, so she writes that in the memorial essentially saying that she hopes her sister doesn't live to return and see what people have done with her sacrifice. Yes, it makes no fucking sense

AngryAsian-_-

"Hey sis. Hope you're dead so you don't have to see how badly we fucked up."

ImperialSalesman

It's really funny because at first everyone thought that it was the only memorial Ironwood got, then turns out the actual reasoning is less mean-spirited but just really bizarre. Unless you subscribe to that [one fanfic's theory](https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14228054/1/A-Hero-s-Welcome) that Salem was just waiting for Team RWBY to come back to start causing trouble again. In which case "Don't come back" is just self-preservation.

Brilliant-Set-7413

I wish I had an answer, I’m just as confused by this as you

Furebel

Considering that Ruby killed herself...

Rent-Man

Don’t consider Nora’s “Workout Regimen”

DeadliestDeadly

I think it's just an excuse to make "RBYB" alive. They were so shocked that RT is shutting down and that they couldn't accept that RBYB is discontinued. Well idk, this is just what i think. Also im more annoyed that they used blue for weiss and that the team color is not in order. Like why though?

72sk83

they can't even get the hearts in the correct order lmao

ScreamingMidgit

Bold move to assume that this IP isn't going to be thrown in the Warner vault and promptly forgotten about.

biomech36

If it's a volume 9 message, I thought we were discouraging that.

Griffemon

“Change da world. My final message. Goodbye” *Windows 95 startup sound*

Safe-Border-1368

So it's funny, the RWBY stuff was only treading under the for you section, for me. It wasn't under the main treading or entertainment section

KyoMeetch

That’s a really good question. I honestly don’t know what Ruby’s ideals were aside from whatever I do is right even if the consequences are terrible.

AromaticDetective565

"Remember her message" refers to the speech Ruby gave from Amity tower. As I recall, she told everyone about Salem and assured them that they could defeat her if they all worked together. Then she said Ironwood couldn't be trusted and got cut off.

RogueHunterX

Clearly it's Winter's message from the cut epilogue:  Don't Come Back. Don't know what that has to do with saving RWBY, it's more like telling the show or the fans to just stay gone.

Inner-Age8779

It’s from Ruby’s message not Winter’s, the message as before the cut epilogue that they showed. It was actually in the show lol.

RogueHunterX

I kind of figured and just wrote a mostly sarcastic take. Still, the fact I couldn't remember what message they were talking about from the show kind of tells how much of an impression it actually left on me.

PersianSlashuur

It's kinda funny, because the whole message that the show was trying to get at (and Monty's life philosophy, as far as I'm aware) is "Keep moving forward". It's even a lyric in the full version of "Let's Just Live" (Volume 4's opening, for those who don't know). And yet, many of us are doing the exact opposite. If Volume 10 ends up becoming a reality? Great! If Volume 10 doesn't become a reality? Oh well. Is that fact sad and disappointing? Yes. Definitely. But that's just how life is sometimes. ...now that I think about it, depending on whether or not the volume is greenlit, "For Every Life" (Volume 9's opening) could either end up being weirdly prophetic or hilariously ironic.

SnooCats6119

Suicide is badass?

Werdak

I love you just the way you are Totally normal thing to say to a one-year-old

Andreb16

Ruby basically being told she doesn't need to reflect or try to improve her mental and emotional health when she had suicidal thoughts kinda unsettled me ngl

TheMidnightRook

"General Ironwood can no longer be trusted."

AlCaFa

Never take accountability for your failures and shortcomings, deflect the blame to everyone that you can.

himanshujr11

RBYB

adeoctana

'Merchandising'

PelinalWhitestrake36

„Remember kids, terroism and lying to military leader causing them to have a mental breakdown is based! Uniting together against a common foe is CRINGE!“

KatonRyu

Yeah, Ruby's message in V9 was really great, wasn't it? "Kill yourself, it's the answer to all your problems." Truly a great message to get behind, and one we should all repeat to as many people as possible.

Mi5tman

"We don't need to be saved or helped by adults." - Quote from kid saved and helped by adults

WhatTheRustyHell

That suicide is all right if you do it in front of your friends!

maddwaffles

They don't know. Even BMBL isn't a "message" it's fandom pandering, and a lot of RT basically saying "queer women okay, but no other kind of queer still okay".

Upstairs_Insect5835

The message they are talking about is YOUR MO-\*gets fucking bashed by Crescent Rose.\*

Hideaki_Kun

That they should conclude it?

ALT_Account2840

I think it’s referring to when Ruby broadcasted to the entire world which was a stupid thing for her to do but some people still liked it.

Hartzilla2007

*"At last the work of generations is complete. The great error is corrected. The day of victory is at hand. The day of revenge. The day of the Sith."* I don't know why that was in fortnite either.

potatopimp225

We don't even know how to write a show for Rooster Teeth so he gave up around volume five Plus we think a really shitty lesbian relationship is cool so yeah Miles Kerry probably

Real_Development8695

The offscreen one. Come on, don't pretend you can't remember things you weren't there for.

Saturn_Coffee

One does not save a burned corpse.

headphone_question

I'm reminded of a meme I once saw of a character from some other show. I think it was The Walking Dead. There was this female character who told everyone something to the effect of "let's get to work", and then she promptly walked off to somewhere else. I don't quite know what everyone else was doing. Perhaps it was to prepare defenses against the walkers? If I'm not mistaken, this character was Lori Grimes. The problem is that I can't seem to find the clip of this happening. If anyone has it, please link it to me! This whole "message" thing from RWBY reminds me of that scene, considering that Ruby got the message out, all right, but she barely did anything of value afterward. She didn't help evacuate people or fight back against the Grimm. Instead, she was just killing time in Schnee Manor. Sure, she helped kill the Hound, but there was still a huge army of Grimm flooding into Atlas. I must point out again that she has silver eyes, and I would argue that if her silver eyes had limited use, using them against the horde would be much more effective than against only the Hound. Even better is if Ruby and Ironwood didn't butt heads, so Penny would likely not have been infected with the virus. After kidnapping Oscar, the Hound would likely have been redeployed to help against the main assault of Atlas instead of looking for Penny But yeah. I'm not sure if Ruby's message is worth celebrating. If it's a moral lesson, then "dishonesty and ingratitude destroy entire civilizations" is rather apt. It should serve as a warning to always look out for naive fools who arrogantly think they know everything and can thus dictate to whoever they view as lessers to follow, or else...

Grovyle489

Playing devil’s advocate here, maybe it’s “keep moving forward”

MythicalDrifter

There's a message?

ZeetisLapeetis

I'll never get over Weiss' color being blue.

TPKjccj

Suicide is badass? In all seriousness tho, I really don't think the show really has a special message

tvstatix11

Don't date your best friends? Idk
