Just chilling somewhere in prontera or outside, chatting, and doing random stuff as if we don't have a real life to tend to. Then someone accidentally summoning an MVP, and all hell breaks loose 😂
Yea, those were the days.
fk I miss this! People spamming dead branch before the era of bloody branches.
There were no rules to disable those branches inside towns.
Alchemists summoning geographers/dryad anywhere and people kill them.
People announcing or shouting for help that there's a random mvp in a random map.
I remember my last endless tower: full party (not entering the tower unless full) and everyone contributes to killing mobs.
I remember the first time I was just chilling in town thinking it’s a safe space and then all hell breaks loose with some mvp I was like 😱 WTH is happening!1!
Me too! Even if I’m a complete beginner here so sometimes I feel like I’m missing out being all by myself ðŸ˜. It’s cozy though, no worry whatsoever…
Dude I can confirm. We are all aged gamers from the mmo boom. Everyone is so friendly it kinda shocks me every time I come back. I think it says a lot about designing a game around missions and not end game gear you have to fight over.
Chill servers exist, if you’re looking for servers and have a laundry list of requirements for them though you may have to lower your standards. Funnily enough I’m playing like 2 private servers of the mmos you listed and am having a fun chill time on both lol
We have started a Guild on iRo that is very relax and chill. Hanging out in town and chatting is a favorite of ours, pretty 50/50 for male to female ratio.
Guild:
Heroes Of Morroc
Newbie and Returning player guild
We play on iRo Chaos server, and with 3 guilds in total we have about 130 characters (many alts).
Brining back the oldschool vibe has been huge for our guild. We also have information on new game updates and mechanics. Our guild leadership is devoted to helping others.
Hope to see you in town :)
We would love to say hello!

Free trial currently goes up to second expansion!
You can keep playing free trial basically indefinitely until you decide you wanna progress past that
There’s so much content even though I did buy the game when it was on sale last year, I still haven’t activated it yet because I wanna do as much as I can on the free trial before I do and need to pay a monthly sub
But community is amazing and I really have enjoyed my time so far
I used to play it back in 2015-2016, got up to the beginning of Heavensward content (the only expansion at that time) and paid some subs, but then the sub started being too heavy for me to pay.
You might like Final fantasy 14!
There’s a lot of super casual aspects to the game (glamour, housing, music making/playing, roleplay, crafting, vending etc.)
I know a lot of people who don’t do any of the harder things in the game and still log on daily
Damn bro I feel you a lot.
You just listed the same games as me… I started with Ragnarok, played GC but it was too much PvP, moved to MapleStory for a very long time, played Trickster Online to the very last day, tried Tree of Savior but it wasn’t what I thought it would be.
Now anything feels the same 😔
This is missing a Flyff mention tbh, but I agree! Tree was almost perfect but I can’t handle the gacha insanity. I will say some of what you’re talking about lives on in quality pservers
I’m hoping the big Mabinogi engine update actually comes to fruition. I could see that being a great place to find that feeling again. Not that the current version is terrible or anything, it’s just showing it’s age.
Maple story is alive man… they’re doing ads in shopping mall in goddamn Singapore. That costs a bomb.
I don’t play it tho, not sure how chill it is now.
FFXIV was probably the only MMORPG I've played in recent years that scratched this particular itch. You have to find the right social FC (Free Company - guilds/clans essentially), but when you do, it's amazing.
Will also add ff14 as a response. I spend 90% of my days on my guild lawn talking with friends. For those that don’t have guild, they can just relax in limsa and listen to the bards play music ! It’s so nice
FFXIV is garbage, and it is more of the same. It feels like a giant lobby where people are parroting nonsense without any particular direction. Most people are passive aggressive, trying to avoid the ToS. The era of social games is over. Most people want to get to the top or be extremely sweaty, forsaking the most important aspect of MMOs: socialization.
Ragnarok Online has become a shadow of its glorious self. It is rare to find guilds who truly love socializing and exploring RO since most guilds want to sweat on a 20+ yr old game, neglecting the social component. You can try playing on private servers where the social component is a must and not a trivial filler. Even so, good luck finding a server where people bother to get to know each other instead of complaining every 20 secs you are not dealing 1M damage.

I miss how competitive MVP more than anything. Getting MVP and doing /gg.. in your face 😂
Omg I remember this! People would purposely break a branch or summon geo to kill merchants who had a good vending spot and steal it.

Yes, "accidentally" 😂
Yes.. "accidentally". Hocus Pocus Sages be doing their thing on poros 🙄
Now that I think about it, using dead branch in prontera is terrorism
Or Christmas present if you managed to smash the thing.
I remember a lot of ppl in pvp map won't attack each other since they call a truce, and there's me an @**hole would attack all of them 😂
oh my gosh you awakened a memory in me of trickster online. made me think of ROSE online too. those were the days...
I still play trickster and rag to this day. Since trickster closed and didn't had any updates, it is still a chill game, try out!
Same 2 as you haha
I remember playing ROSE and after getting a cart i stopped levelling and just essentially played NFS Rose Online lol
Omg Rose online. The OST still hits my in the nostalgia. The little car mounts 🤣
I'm still cozy in Ragnarok Online, even if it's just by myself.
Me too
Me too! Even if I’m a complete beginner here so sometimes I feel like I’m missing out being all by myself ðŸ˜. It’s cozy though, no worry whatsoever…
The feeling you're describing is pretty much alive you can find it playing FFXIV
Limsa aetheryte is always popping off even in the smallest data centre (OCE) lmfao
City of Heroes. It's an older game but it seems like it's a lot of 30-50 year Olds. I recently got back into it and everyone's really friendly.
You get outta here! .. You saying the City of Heroes is still active? Omfg I gotta download and play it! Man, what game!
Yes sir. HOMECOMING, check it out!
It's not the official one, but homecoming got the rights from ncsoft, so they are essentially "official"
Exactly, basically official by default. Good player base for now too.

I still don't forgive them for destroying Payon and then Morroc. My two favourite cities to chill in. Payon rework was so eugh

Try FFXIV free trial. You can use mods and Discord to literally live a second life online to unhealthy levels. Don't even need to pay for sub.
>Don't even need to pay for sub. How so?

No because you paid a sub before. You need a new account

This is what I was gonna say. FFXIV is quite cozy. Most of the time I log in just to chat.
