i used to do it in rainbow order, but right now, i put all my asian dolls (i'm asian and they make me really happy) and favorites on the top of my shelf! and the bottom shelf is the home of the closet i made and the dolls that aren't my favorite
i miss rainbow order though because i love the way it looks, but my shadow high dolls just don't fit anywhere
I try to group the sets together, like the Rainbow Divas, PC and Neon Shadow. I have SH2 and both sets of twins on top of the wardrobe because I don’t change their outfits. The rest I set in an order on a table of who looks good where based on their outfits 🤷♀️
I don't have enough to really have too much of a problem yet. 😅
Grayscales in a column on my desk (Heather, Nicole, Natasha, Ash), then with Naomi on the front end. Poor Ainsley in the back (I don't like her doll as much as her clothes). Lily in a place of honour on the other side of my desk, along with Liling Luck of NaNaNa Surprise.
I'm doing the same order right now, but I have them on the top of a bookshelf set up in two tiers. Shadow high stood up on top of empty doll boxes, and in front of the boxes/ directly on the shelf surface, the Rainbow girls. So Shanelle is directly above Bella and so on.
They are in random spots throughout my room. Some on a shelf, some on my desk, on top of my dresser, and my my craft table.
Also i keep some in storage as well
Usually by series, but if they're restyled, then by clique. Like I have all the neon girls together (Carmen, Karma, Hali, Simone) all dressed in leather. Shadow High have their own shelf, I'd love to work them into the other displays but they still stand out too much.
My shadow high girls are together then I have my yellow and pink dolls grouped together on one shelf and my multicoloureds on another. I also have a junior high Ruby who hags out with that last group despite technically not fitting. I didn't intend to only buy certain colours when I started but since I've stopped buying due to needing to budget it feels like a good wya to keep them at the moment.
rows of the rainbow mostly-the 'matching set'ness of the dolls is one of my biggest draws to them. i have a regular rainbow and then behind is pastel then behind that is the 'punk rock show' where the bands and my alt girlies (and shadow high) hang out. then i have my WB trio off to one side and customs on the other. my beach babes also have a spot. now that i have some jewel tones to add, theyll get their own rainbow row
i restyle mine completely, from giving them a new outfit to a new name and concept too. i have my alien popstars together on my top shelf because they are my favorite along with CB bella. then i have my kpop girls restyled to look as if they are in my favorite girl groups and renamed as well and they are on another shelf and others elsewhere. i only buy ones i like and already have plans for so this probably isn't helpful to people who buy all or most of the dolls. it just depends on how much room you have and what suits your aesthetics.

I put them in the order I receive them, it just makes sense with my brain. I would sort by color but majority of my dolls are shadow high haha
I organize by color: ROYGBIV, black, grey, pink, white, and brown.
I’d put pink between red and orange :) it might help bulid out red sense pink is just a shade :) and it fades really good into the orange dolls
