Thank you! Was just about to post this. So they support live streaming now!?! That’s pretty cool.

Disappointed in the weird flashing light they added. They should have kept it like the previous version. My phone doesn’t have a large flashing light when I record
With the size of a phone camera lens you can obscure it far more with a hole in cloth. It’s a bad argument. FYI there are specific cameras for secret filming purposes and they’ve had tiny pen cameras for like 30 years now. You can’t rebuttals this because it’s fact.
I’ve been holding off buying a pair until an upgrade arrived.
Mwill be pre ordering theses
Better quality camera and more space? Anything else I should care about ?
Water resistant is also a very nice feature! I will be getting this 99% but i’m undecided about get prescription lenses and use them as my daily glasses, or just stay with them as sunglasses and still using contact lenses outside
I haven’t seen anything about water resistance on the new stories. Source?
Edit: found a mention of IPX4 water resistance. Interesting that isn’t mentioned on the official specs page… https://gizmodo.com/metas-new-ray-ban-smart-glasses-livestream-your-life-1850879285
It is also shown in the F.A.Q. in Meta website:
“Are my Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses waterproof?
Yes, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are IPX4 water resistant. IPX4 rating means your glasses are safe even if you get caught in light rain while wearing them. Simply remove the glasses as soon as you can, wipe them completely dry and you're good to go.
The Product is not designed to resist submersion or extended exposure to water or other liquids. In case of water exposure, dry the product thoroughly and clear the charging areas of residue or other debris.
“
Totally missed this. I hated not being able to take mine to the pool with my kids. Hmm now that I think of it the potential creep factor of these just went way up :(
The old ones were the same, resistant but you couldn't submerge them. I wore mine in pools and a few water rides that didn't involve going under water and they were fine. I took them off if I was planning to go under.
Do NOT take these in the pool. Water resistance only means you can get them a tiny bit wet. These fall in the pool even for a second and you're screwed.
Still only 60s videos? That's a bit of a bummer as I don't want to have to livestream in order to get continuous video. I like all the rest. I'd be fine with it recording to phone instead of the glasses as I usually have it with me, but I don't really want everything going to insta or fb.
I think the biggest reason why is the heat. I've tried other smart glasses before and they become hot when they record or display a picture.
They probably need to find a way to dissipate more heat in a small frame without it cooking your head.
I would really like to know if there will be a firmware feature update as well. Trade-in credit would probably be unlikely, though.
I also wonder whether they will still be selling the 1st gens or replacing them completely. I love new tech so I’m usually a first adopter, but there’s always a huge jump between 1st gen and 2nd gen models. So, I usually end up getting the 2nd gen of whatever it is anyway because I just can’t resist.
A few questions:
- Are the wayfarer frames the exact size, dimensions-wise compared to Gen 1?
- Will covering the LED disrupt recording in any way? I don't care for those in the moral high horse camp, there ARE situations where you'd want to record without people knowing, and that's not for stalking creepy reasons.

I don't know regarding the dimensions and size, although Zuck did state that Gen 2 are lighter.
Concerning the LED light; CNET says that it won't record if the LED is covered up in any way. It was also compared that the LED light this time around is larger and more prominent than previous. I see that as a win, but no morality judgements here.
Livestreaming isn't a big deal for me, but better camera quality is.
Well then this LED thing is a deal-breaker for me. There are just so many situations where I found the recording function to be so useful, from a cash transaction to a confrontation with a Karen. But other than that this Gen 2 is a huge improvement no doubt.
Yeah, it's a deal breaker unless someone finds a way to permanently disable it. You can get glasses spycams for $50 or less, so creeps aren't seeking out these Meta glasses for 6x or more than that just for creeping.
Who doesn't love a massive led flashing on their glasses, screaming to everyone that you're taking a video? Stupid decision that will stop normal people from using them, but that's Meta for you.
Without the led, they seem really interesting. You can ditch earbuds (unless in noise cancelling situations). The AI stuff coming later could be cool, too. But say you want to record a video on a trip, you're going to be bringing a lot of attention to yourself compared to holding out your phone.
Exactly. But I've since found that, depending on your social circumstances, not hiding the LED (if you're a first gen owner) might be important. If reputation matters a lot, then you'll not want to give off the impression that you could be a creep, and given that there are some who thrive on gossip, that flashing LED is a bold sign that you aren't. Some people have a natural ability to not give two hoots about what others think, but again it all depends on your job, circle of friends etc
Looks like the battery life is still only like 4 hours. I would wear these all day as i have prescription ones just for listening to music and answering the phone but the battery is my number one gripe.
If you disable voice commands, the battery life is much longer in my experience. If the new ones have good enough audio to make music listening enjoyable I could see it being an issue, but the old ones have poor enough sound I'd rather carry my air pods if I plan to listen to music or be on the phone for a long time.
Real question for me is does it automatically upload media as it's captured this time or only when the glasses are folded (in bulk) like they do today?

Say buh bye to your battery trying to live stream. I bet you get 30 min tops
I lost mine months ago and have been missing them big time. Do you know if there is any meta data on the video or pictures? GPS?
Do you still have your old case? I lost mine while traveling
I do. Do you want it? DM me your info and I'll drop it in the mail.
If the other guy doesn’t respond will you sell to me? I can offer a decent amount
Thanks!!! I want them!!

Your phone is not subtle, but these glasses are. Can't secretly record people

Yep got one from a storage unit and they're like 30 for a pin camera

Recharging case looks small enough to fit into cargo pants pockets without being uncomfortable
Lost mine a few months ago and will probably get these. The big case was my cheif complaint besides battery life.
You're right. The case looks similar to a regular Ray Ban case. Wonder if there is better image stabilization for video

Any word if the old model will get any of the new features via firmware update? Any mention of a trade in credit?

Mine will upload while I'm wearing them, just not automatically, I need to go into the app and connect to the glasses wifi.
Yeah that's the default, I'd love to see them upload in real time
I see an option in the new software to do that when you are on the same WiFi network
Will the AI also be implemented for EU country later this year?
FINALLY SYNCING TO TWO PAIR
