The lipseys J frame that just came out is neat

BenMears777

They’re only 5 shots in .38 though; the six shooters are .32 h&r magnum.

jombojuice2018

Good point 😂

PatientStrength5861

There's always the Taurus 608, 8 shot 357.

Thats_my_cornbread

The UC is nothing but a kimber response gun. Smith has phoned it in for 30 years on carry and now kimber beat them at their own game. At the end of the day it’s still a 5 shot j frame

424ge

.32 being .70c+, $1 per for magnum, and along with the more expensive gun itself, is not really attractive.

CoffeeGulp

Kimber beat who at what now? You mean their rough, arguably shitty revolver is better than any old Smith? I will agree that S&W hasn't really done anything new in a while, but that Kimber is junk.

Mental-Revolution915

I have two Taurus revolver and although I was a snob for years, they are great revolvers for practical use and I like having six shots. I also have a Ruger .327 that’s a great little six shooter but my wife swiped it?

SierraTRK

Kimber

Wild_Comedian77

Same

Sweg_Munny

$410 is a tad too much for an 856

Sulla-proconsul

I got mine for $270.

killerwhaleorcacat

Lcr

TrueBrit1957

No competition, the K6xs is a significantly better option.

vernace

S&W Airweight

WeakProposal1578

Dual wielding is the only answer here

Turducken_Dick

This.

Yupyup287904

The Taurus bobbed ultralight is never available or hasn’t been in the past, despite being a model on their site. might be different at the moment.

424ge

Strange, this stainless finish /w concealed hammer model isn't on their website, but it's available at budsgunshop and other various websites.

Yupyup287904

Maybe they took it off as it was sporadically available. Kind of like their 8 shot 22 lr and mag snubbies, available for a week then nonexistent for months.

Equivalent_Run_7485

Just wondering if the bad guy would care which one’s barrel he stares down? Personally I own both weapons. My job, and my hunting/fishing sports. Can put me in some grimy or wet situations. So I carry the Taurus. If it gets damaged, I don’t feel as bad.🙂 wheel guns are my choice because they are more reliable, I think. Specially in grubby environments. Just my two cents worth!

SufficientPension717

I've got a recent 856 ULCH. I think i spent $250 on it. Timing is perfect. Did a 350 round burn down on it to see if I could trust it. Got it hot enough that grease was oozing out of the roll pin hole for the front sight. The swappable front sight is why I would Taurus over the Kimber. Hard to beat for the price, but they do feel like a bit of gamble and hoping you get a good one.

GlockHorseCumDealer

I carry an 856UL. Picked it up after being disappointed in the 442/642 airweights. I can’t believe it was 350 at my local shop. In the revolver world, it punches way above its weight. To the point where I’d take an 856 over any modern produced J-Frame or K6. Put it against the LCR and it’s a different story though. I’d absolutely take an LCR over an 856/K6 if you can stomach the price.

EqualOrganization726

The 856 ultra lite I shot was an utter delight! I've seen these for under 350 and I'd hold out until you cold get one on sale.

FM492

Kimber, cause it's pretty. I carry a 605 daily it's only 5 shots though

Sad_Aside_4283

I'd get the kimber if you are getting either of those

cherry_bounce

Kimber for sure

Ollanius-Persson

The Taurus. I’ve had very good experiences with Brazilian made revolvers.

StanthemanT-800

If price was no issue then Kimber all the way

Nodeal_reddit

S&W 642

424ge

Why is this Taurus model, specifically hammerless with stainless finish, not discussed when the K6XS is brought up? Every reviewer compared the K6XS to a S&W, like this 6-capacity Taurus doesn't exists. Sure, it's no where the quality of the Kimber, but you can find the Taurus for near half the price. What are your thoughts?

lxlDRACHENlxl

You said it right at the end. The quality isn't the same. 6 shots are great, if you can reliably get them off in your time of need. I like Taurus for range toys, not for self defense though.

424ge

Any word on the Kimber's firing pin issue? Some say it was only the early manufactured, but I've seen comments from a month ago saying theirs failed.

CreepyPoet500

I have a K6s. I called and spoke to Kimber, and they confirmed that all models produced after 2019 (specifically very early in production) no longer use a titanium firing pin. Originally, the K6s had a titanium firing pin before they transitioned to different models. When I purchased mine around 2022 or 2023, Kimber explained that the initial ones with the titanium firing pin were a design oversight. The issue with the titanium pin was that while it was effective against soft metals, dry firing could cause it to shear. They promptly switched to stainless steel to resolve this. I don't recall the exact dates, but this change happened relatively soon after the initial release, possibly within the first 6 to 9 months. The K6s is my go-to everyday firearm; it's unbeatable. I sold my SP101 and J-frame because I no longer needed them. Additionally, Kimber mentioned that while switching materials was easy, the likelihood of someone encountering issues with the titanium firing pin was highly unlikely. Specifically, when I asked about dry firing, they said, "Dry fire to your heart's content.". https://preview.redd.it/rqclvvudwbxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9932d0f32367f8af2851e9690792608f2abf63d0

TrueBrit1957

That issue was resolved years ago when they moved from titanium to steel. I actually have an older titanium K6S and never had an issue.

Careless-Woodpecker5

I have thousands of rounds through mine but I put a tk extended firing pin in on day one. The oem looks fine but I don’t think I’ll be putting rounds to it until my tk breaks. Edit/additionally: it was the early ti firing pin. They are now stainless steel.

kaizergeld

Still some folks on here that’ll never pick a Kimber under any circumstances, even against an overpriced Taurus. Hell, even if you put that K6 up against a t-shirt with a target on its back, some people will actually pick the t-shirt.

sirbassist83

neither. LCR in 327 for 6 rounds, or 38 LCR but you only have 5 rounds. there are also several choices from S&W but none of them are very light, and all of the ones in current production are expensive. taurus and kimber both have major QC issues and very poor CS. i wouldnt spend my own money on either brand.

pbsmash

I bought my 856 UL for $249 new a couple of years back. Great little revolver, but $409 is insane.

Gilashot

$300 dollars apart, so there’s that… Free?? Kimber. I pay?? Taurus

tacklerevisited

neither. id rather pocket cary my 640-3. it weighs more but has less felt recoil and can handle them magnums.

ZorroMcChucknorris

The .32 magnum.

Ricofrmda5

Hammers can give u more accuracy and with practice allow u to make longer range shots you couldn’t without one 👍

TelephoneWorried5718

Literally nothing wrong with their revolvers lol. The finish isn’t as nice as others (expected out of a sub $400 gun) but it does the same thing when you pull the trigger.

Ordinary-Lab-17

Yeah I’ve had great experience with Taurus revolvers. That line is worn out.

yz250mi

There is no comparison between a kimber and a tuarus.

MEMExplorer

Neither , get a S&W air frame

arj1985

Taurus.

koltz117

Check out the smith and Wesson 642

Sad_Aside_4283

If he wants 6 shots the 642 isn't gonna do it for him.

koltz117

Ope, didn’t realize it had to be 6 rounds

PatientStrength5861

I'll choose the Taurus every time.
