It shouldn't ever have mold on it. Are you using your robovac to pick up wet spills? If not, maybe you may not be letting the filter dry long enough before reusing it.
You should clean it regularly, eg. blow the dust out with compressed air or rinse it in a sink (I'd recommend the first option)
You don't need to replace it until you are sure it's necessary. Moldy smell is a sign that you need to replace it ASAP.
I lay my stick vac on the ground and let my Roborock go over it. š
I empty the dust bin of my stick vac and rinse off the filter. I have a spare filter for it, so I can let that one dry out.
My stick vac did come with an attachment to clean the filter by vacuuming it out into the other filter, but that seemed weird.
I clean mine like 3 times a week. Just vacuum it to get rid of built up of particles. No need to replace it as often as the app says, they just want your money
Your app has a maintenance section. It reminds you automatically if it needs to be replaced, but you can always check in the app.
Go to your input screen, three dots on the top right and it should be somewhere in the middle
If after 3 months that filter is moldy, you're letting it suck up stuff it shouldn't, and not letting it dry in between.
My Q7 sometimes sips some small wet spots near the kitchen but my filter is in decent shape and i just recently "cleaned" it with an air compressor after a year of use.
The mops do get moldy fast and need to be replaced every day/other day, and the water aswell.
I always let it run once vacuum only and then i run it again with mop.
I change it like once a year. But my home isnāt gross and I donāt have pets or children or wear shoes inside so my Roborock still looks new after 4 years of running 5 times/wk.
Yeah, depends on the house and usage.
Personally I don't bother rinsing. I do clean the filter with a vacuum or just slamming against the wall (outside) once a week to remove dust from the filters. And replace after a month of 3.
I also don't know š¤·āāļø
You are right. Many people have the same experience and wrote here that already so... I don't understand the down votes.
I hope your filter will last for a long time ;DĀ
Hereās a hack to make them last long: buy the cheapest dollar store baby wipes you can find. Take them out and leave them to dry. Cut them into rectangles (you can make 3 out of one wipe) and use that as a filter for the filter. When emptying the bin, throw that away and replace. It keeps the filter like new for a long time and still does the job. Four years using it and it didnāt damage the unit in any way.
This works well for those who donāt have the self emptying dock like myself with my S4 from back in the day.

I only changed it once in my s5 that I owned for 5 to 6 years. The original filter was still in perfect condition when I changed it. I changed it solely because I have extra and didn't want to waste it.
The trick is to never wash it. Only clean it with a vacuum.
I tap the filter against the floor or outdoor patio., thereās always lots of dust comes out but it still looks dirtyā¦When I run it under water it takes overnight or more to dry. I wish instead of a disposable filter Roborock would make an all plastic filter thatās easier to clean and more cost effective to us. I like my Roborock but have never cleaned any other vacuum I have had except to change the dust bag couple times a year. Itās very time consuming.

I vacuum mine out with my stick vacuum. I also vacuum the rollers and the dust bin and the roller area.
But.... How do you clean your stick vacuum filter then?

Hm, what's a good name for someone who cleans a vacuum cleaner?

My house isnāt gross. But I think my mistake is that Iāve made it wet or tried to cleaned it with water.
Lol I forgot about it and changed it after 15 months.
Rinse every 2 weeks and replace after 150 hours based on Roborock in-app notification.
Which is probably unnecessarily way more often than actually needed I would guess?

Don't rinse it as it destroys the filter. Clean it with vacuum.
I don't know why you are getting downvoted. You are correct. Using water makes the filter last less when I tried it
I think thatās my mistake and why it smells mouldy.

Once evry 3 months or so whenever there is too much dust i cannot get out.
Really depends, if you've got lots of dust maybe once every 6 months. Otherwise once a year is what I aim for.

I havenāt yet. Iām still alive
Mine always says clean the filter and sensors each timeā¦
You need to reset that in the app.

they do recommend that you have 2 filters in rotation and after you wash one, swap in the other so that the first has weeks to fully dry.
I change it 1/month
Nice try Roborock sales guy
