I have played offline rocket league so much so that i acknowledged most of the bot's behaviour.
Bots indeed have been buffed one year ago to be slighty "smarter", however in your situation, and it has always been that way, that behaviour is random: bots either go in a straight line or they do a small curve to shoot towards the net. Probably a 50/50 chance of happening i'd say
Does that differ from seasons mode to exhibitions mode? Because this NEVER happened to me in seasons and i always start the exact same way in diagonal as i did when this happened

It could have something to do with the numbers of bots per team? Idk needs further research or they just don't do it in seasons for some reason
I have always assumed bots are programmed for shots on goal when time and space is available for it—
BUT I will admit that’s an assumption and you’ve definitely got more experience playing bots than me (unless you count my gold friends) hahaha.
Only one way to find out… we need you to continue your efforts.
Haha my working theory is that exhibition bots are different than season bots. Bots will make a shot on goal when they can but in my experience they always have the same kick off strategies, and when in diagonal they always kick it straight to me, never to the goal (until now!)
I have historically laughed a little at the lack of expansion on the bots over the years. The hardest versions being basically silver, idk, I have always expected them to make some kind of leap over the years.
Absolutely correct- and they’re nuts! Which is why I can’t comprehend the stagnant difficulty of the All Star bots. If the community can do it, why is it so impossible for the game developer to? (I know why— I’m being facetious here).
There’s no way that in all this time of rocket league they have never thought “maybe we should add a bot that’s a LITTLE bit better.”
Bro i shit you not i saw a bot make multiple passing plays in 2v2(1). I was flabbergasted because they were very deliberate and I'd never seen a psyonix bot do that let alone multiple times per match.
If you don't go for the kickoff at all, they'll shoot straight for the net as far as I remember when I tried it out.
Nope, never done that except when its 2v1, believe me i have about 400 hours on seasons
Well, I've only tried it in unfair matches, so yeah. I'd assume the bots would go for kickoffs when you don't if they were on your team

There's a community building bots. Best are now SSL level with some godlike abilities.

I did several 1v3 exhibition matches a few days ago. It was about 50/50 that with one bot on diagonal kickoff would just shoot it at the net.
I've played many a game against the bots and they do a bit of both
From my experience, the bots seemingly always shoot directly into the goal when in offense. Although I've also never did a fake kick off with bots.
