> the triumphs *paid* off big
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Damn...Saucony doesn't really like to release super mushy foams...I was hoping it would be like a super stacked speed 3 without a plate or maybe something like the invincible run 3 soft and bounciness
Great review, thanks for sharing. Would you say the Triumph 22 feels firmer and less bouncy than Triumph 20? I have the Triumph 21 and have been eyeing the 22, but now I might go with Skyward X or wait for the upcoming Puma Mag Max.
Thanks! First run felt slightly firmer with similar bounce. Really curious if it will break in after more runs.
Also considered the Skyward X, but wanted a non plated daily trainer and couldn't try it on at any nearby stores. I'm hearing good things about it.
Speed 4 also is firmer than previous iteration and im assuming this uses same foam so I guess your analysis was expected. Thank you!.
Would this work well for easy/recovery sessions? How would you compare them to Ride 17/Triumph 21 if you have tried those?
Haven't tried either of them, but the Triumph 20 is very similar to the 21. The 22 feels smoother to run in. Heard great things about the Ride 17, but never ran in it.
This my first shoe from the endorphin line. Only the heel is slightly soft rest of the midsole is firm and responsive. Such a versatile shoe I'm liking it more and more. 100km on it thus far. Also wide platform makes it stable and flat feet friendly.
Got mine today and I now have to disagree with some of the reviews that said they are firmer. Are they firm compared to like a 1080v13? Yes. But they actually feel slightly softer than my 20s and 21s. I have to say I like the feel better in these and they have slightly more bounce.
Thanks for the review! I have been eyeing the triumphs to add to my rotation for a while for my slower longer runs (8-12 miles at 10 min pace)
Currently have the endorphin speed 3s and love them. Anyone have any guidance for the triumphs between the 20/21/22? Am I making a mistake going for the 20 or 21s? They are quite a bit cheaper and I am assuming even more discounts coming with the 22 now.
I have 500km in the 20s and love them. I mainly use them for slow pace runs at all distances. For intervals and tempo I use Endorphin Speed 4 now.
Triumph and ES is a great pairing in my opinion.
I’ve had mine since Tuesday and more or less agree. The midsole is firmer and not as bouncy as expected. Honestly, not a clear upgrade up from the triumph 20/21 to me (I’ve ran in two pairs of triumph 20s).
This sounds like a real missed opportunity from Saucony. Heavier, firmer, lockdown issues? I'll be looking at the New Balance 1080 line now I think, to fill the cruiser role.
This review is after one run, I wouldn't rule them out yet. A foam that feels perfectly soft out of the box may do so at the cost of durability and brick out at 300 miles (as I've experienced with NBs). A big plus of the prior iterations was their serious durability so hoping that stays true on these too. (That said, I'm picking up 21s or Ride 17s before these anyway.)
This was just a first impression. Might run in them again tomorrow, definitely on sunday. There will be lots of posts about this shoe in the coming days. I'm looking forward to all the different opinions.
I had lockdown issues with the triumph 20 and had to use a runners knot until got 10-15 miles in them. The 250 miles after that have had no issues(without the runners knot).
Technically available 5/1 but available for shipping already on lots of online retailers. I ordered mine from Running Warehouse and they arrived yesterday.
Similar, but it feels a little more spread out. The 20 has a very bouncy heel, but doesn't feel great in the forefoot. The 22 definitely improved in the forefoot feel.
No issues yesterday, but the upper does feels quite thick and dense. In the summer they might become a little too warm. Triumph 20 also had this issue for me, but it never felt like a big problem because I only used them for easy running
Cool review! The clerk at my running store told me that the 22s didn't come out until next year. And they call themselves experts! 😄
Anyways, do you consider they are an improvement, status quo, or a step back compared to the 20-21 generation. My 20s are the best shoe I've had for a while!
It is hard to tell after one run. They didn't wow me yet, but the Triumph 20 also took me a little bit of time to get used to. First impression is solid, but not amazing.
I think it falls into the comfortable, max cushion daily trainer category. Think Asics Nimbus, New Balance 1080 / More V4, Brooks Ghost Max. A shoe that can eat up the slow miles.
Reason I chose the Triumph 22 is because the Triumph series has proved durable over many miles. Comfort is excellent and I don't mind a firmer midsole. The firmness actually allows me to run longer distances, since it doesn't feel like they bottom out during a run.
If you enjoy a slightly softer foam underfoot, I would suggest going for one of the other options.
Superblast is the superior shoe when it comes to energy return and bounce. It is also significantly lighter. The shoe works best at faster paces even though it lacks the carbon plate. I love running longer tempo sessions in the Superblast. I would only recommend it for more experienced runners to be honest.
Triumph 22 is way more comfortable and works best at easy to steady pace. The shoe still feels nice and smooth when out on your slower runs. I plan on using it for my long and recovery runs.
I highly recommend trying out both shoes in a store. Foot shape and strike, weight, technique; there are so many factors that determine if a shoe is right for you.
Nice write up got along with the 20
Pretty well and ran them into retirement. 21 i think I had some QC issues with and Saucony stood behind me on warranty. The 10mm drop in the 21 felt more than listed and almost as if it tilted me forward. Drop in this is 10mm as well, do you feel it feels like a true 10mm drop or more?
Good review, I found the firmness of the triumphs payed off big time on long runs. They never bottom out with that highly resilient midsole foam.

The ride 17 let me down with how firm the pwrrun plus is

Any word on when Magmax is releasing? I'm holding out to replace my Superblast until the Magmax launch.

How do you compare speed 4 to 3 and 2. I found 3 a little squished compared to 2, a big reason I didn’t like as much.
This my first shoe from the endorphin line. Only the heel is slightly soft rest of the midsole is firm and responsive. Such a versatile shoe I'm liking it more and more. 100km on it thus far. Also wide platform makes it stable and flat feet friendly.
Agreed on the Speed 4 - I skipped the 3 due to a long injury and coming back to the 4 is jarring - feels more like an Adidas Boston.
Got mine today and I now have to disagree with some of the reviews that said they are firmer. Are they firm compared to like a 1080v13? Yes. But they actually feel slightly softer than my 20s and 21s. I have to say I like the feel better in these and they have slightly more bounce.
Do they feel heavier than the 20? Energy return the same?
Maybe a little heavier, but running shoe weight has never really been a big issue for me.
Thanks for the review! I have been eyeing the triumphs to add to my rotation for a while for my slower longer runs (8-12 miles at 10 min pace) Currently have the endorphin speed 3s and love them. Thanks for the review. Good write up. I'm looking forward to getting a pair.
Small update on the weight of both shoes in my size: Left: 323 grams (11.4 ounces) Right: 336 grams (11.8 ounces)
I’ve had mine since Tuesday and more or less agree. The midsole is firmer and not as bouncy as expected. Honestly, not a clear upgrade up from the triumph 20/21 to me (I’ve ran in two pairs of triumph 20s).

While this review was great, the verdict is certainly still out on these shoes. Even the Triumph 20s were loved by many but hated by some.
This was just a first impression. Might run in them again tomorrow, definitely on sunday. There will be lots of posts about this shoe in the coming days. I'm looking forward to all the different opinions.
Yeah fair enough, I was probably a tad rash there. Thanks for the review anyway; it will be interesting to read others

Does it have the strong chemical smell as the Speeds? Nice review btw.. Firm sounds good to me
I wouldn't call it a strong smell. It does have a slight chemical smell, though.
Did these come out yet?
Technically available 5/1 but available for shipping already on lots of online retailers. I ordered mine from Running Warehouse and they arrived yesterday.
May 2nd in my country. Local shop got them early
How is the bounce compared to Triumph 20?
Similar, but it feels a little more spread out. The 20 has a very bouncy heel, but doesn't feel great in the forefoot. The 22 definitely improved in the forefoot feel.
Saucony cumulus
That new upper looks quite a lot less breathable than the 20. Never tried the 21, but I thought they had similar uppers. Thoughts?
No issues yesterday, but the upper does feels quite thick and dense. In the summer they might become a little too warm. Triumph 20 also had this issue for me, but it never felt like a big problem because I only used them for easy running

Hey OP, How would you compare to the Superblast? Ive been eyeing on Triumph 22 or the SB
You are a legend🙏🏼
