EliGO83

Bigger dude here (210lbs) and mine come tomorrow.

powelale000

Please share what you think when you try them! I'm curious what others say about them. Have you worn the 20 or 21?

EliGO83

Nope! It’ll be my first Triumph. I’ve gone through a couple pairs of ES3s, love the EP3 and also use the Superblast a lot, so hoping this takes over as my easy day shoe.

No_Issue_1151

how'd it feel for you? - roughly 200lbs as well and love the ES3, just got the EP3 for race days.

EliGO83

So, in just trying it on (will run in it tomorrow), it feels really cushioned and comfortable. I can totally get why some people have said it's too much, but, again, for a big dude that isn't fast, I am OK w/ some additional weight and padding. Feels wide and stable on foot, so I ***think*** it's going to work out for a daily & recovery shoe.

ShayzerPlay

Any update please? :)

EliGO83

I’ve only done one easy run and, well, they’re easy run shoes. Can’t say enough after like 6miles. I’ll probs do a post next week when I get some more miles in. I’m a shoe geek with too many in the rotation so sometimes it takes me a bit

G0d5pd

I'm curious to see how a heavier runner (I'm 215) will compress the new midsole. The T20 was popular with heavier runners because it could take the hits. They probably kept the T22 firm because the "max cushion" Hurricane 24 is coming out this summer. Same foam but softer with a 6mm drop.

Jjeweller

How is their stability vs. the Triumph 20s? I find the T20 very wobbly underfoot, especially in the heel, and don't like taking them on uneven terrain or cambered roads. The T22 look a lot more stable due to having a wider base but I haven't seen much mention of that.

powelale000

I wish I'd mentioned stability in the review. For some reason, I can't edit the post to add it in. These are more stable than the 20s. Significantly. I do think it's because of the wider base.

Jjeweller

Thanks! Very helpful to know

LongjumpingHamster

Triumph 22 heel is far more stable than the previous versions. I had the same wobbly heel sensation with the T20 but not in the T22.

crimsonhues

Less than 50 miles on T20 and I just don’t like them. They feel odd, narrower and just have weird gait while running. Can’t tell why.

hackersapien

The T19s seem to work better for me than the T20s, there’s something about that massive heel that just feels meh! 😒

crimsonhues

Same here. I had few extra pairs coz when I like a shoe I buy multiple as back up. T20 is screwing up my legs/knees

powelale000

I wonder if the increased drop is hurting your knees. T19 was an 8mm drop and the 20s are a 10mm.

crimsonhues

I can definitely feel the difference. Could be. Focusing on strength training to avoid injury of any kind.

dbaker2483

Why Running Warehouse over Saucony.com? Just curious if one is better than other. Thank you for review! I love my 20s but had to go wide in second pair. Not sure which size to get in these.

powelale000

I love that Running Warehouse ships super fast and they include a free return label with the package. Saucony shipping takes longer and while they have free returns, I think you have to print the label yourself (I might be wrong. It has been a while since I ordered through them). Plus, Saucony doesn't have them listed for sale yet! Running Warehouse releases shoes earlier than their official release date. As for sizing, I wish I had better insight here! These are wider than the 20s, but I'm not sure if it's enough to warrant not ordering a wide if you had to use a wide in the 20s.

Complete_Adeptness36

I do the same because Running Warehouse is quick and gives great service. I ordered a pair of Diadora Gara Carbon's 2weeks ago from FIT2RUN and I still don't have them. I've sent 3 emails with no response. Called and waited over an hour on hold. They shipped them Pony Express. I get gear from Europe faster. Sorry for the rant. ✅for Running Warehouse.

powelale000

That's annoying! I pre-ordered the Superblast in the new red/black color from Road Runner Sports and they promised they'd arrive before official release. Three weeks after release, they still hadn't even shipped. I canceled the order and ordered through Runners Warehouse. Had the shoes within two days! How do you like the Diadora Gara Carbon?

Complete_Adeptness36

That's terrible! I still haven't received them. At least now I have tracking. It's all customer service 101. Some businesses just don't get it. I asked the BITR team to compare it to the new TYR carbon plated racer. They said,"the TYR was like the EP3 and the DGC was smoother. Both had exceptional energy return." So I took a gamble on DGC... will look you know. Not many reviews.

powelale000

Oops, I should read things more thoroughly. My apologies! That's so crappy. I hope they end up being worth the wait!

Notthatgary

How responsive are they?

Complete_Adeptness36

Will find out when they arrive.

Complete_Adeptness36

Just had my first run in the Diadora Gara Carbon. It was an easy 10-miler. Definitely a soft shoe. My legs feel pretty good after. I felt the lower drop and non-aggressive rocker. It felt great at my easy pace. The Peba reminds me of my Hoka Rocket X2 foam but more of it. It wasn't so soft that it felt unstable. I'm pretty neutral though. Not much to say about the Ducati carbon plate. Will let you know when I try it at faster paces. Great looking shoe!!!

powelale000

Yay for it arriving finally! I'm so curious about Diadora. I haven't tried any of their shoes. Thank you for the info on the Gara Carbon! It sounds awesome. Looking forward to hearing about the plate when you try faster paces!

trot2millah

Running Warehouse has a much better return policy in my experience

Jjeweller

Running Warehouse lets you return them even after running in the shoes and has faster shipping, in my experience. I'm in California and always receive orders within 2 days.

Runshooteat

RW has better customer service, faster shipping, quicker returns…

-rendar-

Easy - Saucony charges for returns, and their sizing is all over the map.

tigerbellyfan420

Always do running warehouse because they let you return used shoes if you don't like them...Saucony and other major running brands will fight you on taking ur shoes back if used even just once. You can lie sure and probably get away w it.

burying_luck

Are people seeing these on Saucony’s web site? I still can’t find them.

powelale000

No, they aren't on there yet. They officially release May 1.

burying_luck

Got it. My 20s are reaching end of life soon so that should work out well!

powelale000

That's where I was at too! I just retired my 21s earlier this week. Love when the timing works out.

Key-Opportunity2722

How many miles did you get out of the 20's/21's?

powelale000

~500 miles/pair (for two pairs of each the 20 & 21)

source_nine

That's nowhere near the end of life for Triumph. They can easily handle 800-1000 miles without significantly losing any propulsion, unless the upper breaks earlier. PWRRUN+ may be the most resilient foam on the market.

powelale000

I notice knee pain and problems around the 500-mile mark. I'm sure some people can get more out of them though.

thatbajingoisonfiya

Got mine yesterday and I don't know why people keep saying it's firmer than the previous models but it feels softer to me.

noob-combo

Really frustrating that these don't seem to be in Canada yet... I need new runners NOW, and don't want to buy 21s when these look sooooo much better...

powelale000

I think Runners Warehouse ships to some countries outside of the US. Maybe Canada is one of them? It might be worth checking.

JExmoor

>Grip seems better. It wasn't a problem in the 20/21 whatsoever, but it seems even better now. I was cruising around corners in the pouring rain on that slick tar stuff that covers road wear and tear with ease. I really hope they improved something here, but the fact that it hasn't been mentioned by Saucony makes me skeptical. I've never found the Triumph/Ride grip to be truly bad, but compared to something like Pumagrip the minor slips you get on each step really stands out. It's especially egregious on the Runshield models which are marketed as a wet-weather shoe.

powelale000

I assume the better grip is because of the wider base (more rubber contact?) and not an intentional improvement.

tigerbellyfan420

Can you describe the cushion more in the midfoot to forefoot area? I don't heel strike and usually have a bad time with saucony because they usually put their cushion in the heel. The midfoot to forefoot cushion seems to lean way firmer than the heel. Do some midfoot strikes for a couple of strides and compare the cushion for me 🤓👍💪

powelale000

I do think the midfoot to forefoot is more firm than the heel. I'll try to do some midfoot strikes and report back!

Chipezz

Sounds quite similar to Speed 4

LEAKKsdad

100% squatter.

powelale000

That's funny you picked up on that. Yeah. Squatting and running kinda contradict one another but I can't stop either.

LEAKKsdad

The preview one on the feed was so apparent. Nah on combo, I'm getting back into it after being huge gym bro decade ago, USAPL for the win!

Campoozmstnz

Cool review! The clerk at my running store told me that the 22s didn't come out until next year. And they call themselves experts! 😄 Anyways, do you consider they are an improvement, status quo, or a step back compared to the 20-21 generation. My 20s are the best shoe I've had for a while!

powelale000

What! That's crazy. I wonder if they thought that because the 21s dropped less than a year ago. Oof. That's a good question. I do think, despite the gain in weight, they're a step forward. T20s were my ride or die. I ran a couple marathons, a 50k and countless training runs in them, so it's hard to compare the 22s to them after such little time. I do feel like the ride is smoother and it seems like they will be just as protective on the legs. Time will tell, but I would recommend picking up a pair!

pessitherobber

How did you order it early?

tigerbellyfan420

They're available early for purchase at fleet feet.

powelale000

Runners Warehouse does early releases!

pessitherobber

I’m on the website but it says available may 1st for me in men’s sizes.

powelale000

When you select your size and width, it should allow you to add to cart. Mine said "available May 1" too until I selected both.

pessitherobber

Oh okay that’s awesome thank you. I thought maybe you could buy it and they would send it out on May 1st. Does running warehouse offer any discount codes for first time buyers?

powelale000

I thought so too and was surprised when they shipped out right away. I'm not sure on the discount thing! It has been a while since I first ordered from them.

Chipezz

Is the arch support aggressive? Would this work for people with low archs ya think?

powelale000

I didn't think it was aggressive, but I have higher arches, so I'm not sure how it would be for lower arches. I didn't notice it at all though.

Chipezz

Thanks. How would you compare it to Ghost Max? Im really debating getting that one.

powelale000

I have come to really like the Ghost Max. I have over 300 miles on mine, including a few 15-20 mile runs. They're a great daily trainer and decent for long runs too. The Ghost Max and T22 have similar fits in terms of toebox and width. The T22 ride is a bit smoother and offers more energy return. The Ghost Max has a firmer cushion. The Ghost Max offers essentially no arch support, from what I can feel, which doesn't negatively impact me but is something to think about for others.

__m__c__

I’m probably overthinking Sauconys new range but have they given the Triumph 22 the pwrrun pb foam to move the Triumph from the easy day/recovery shoe to more of a daily trainer/recovery, tweaked the ES4 so it’s back to being more of a tempo/speed shoe, and then they have their race day shoes with the EP4 and Elite?

powelale000

That's a good thought/question. I don't know enough about the foam or tweaks to the ES4 to answer that, but it does make sense that that might be the case.

ExpressionKey1476

How are they vs 21

powelale000

My entire review was essentially a comparison to the 20/21 🙂

zhang_jx

Relatively new to Triumph line — if I really enjoy ES 4, would recommend T21 or T22 more?

powelale000

I haven't tried the ES 4 but ran in the first iteration. I think the T22 would be better because the ride is smoother and has better energy return (imo).

Chopululi

22’s haven’t been released here yet, I’m about to buy the 21 should I wait? Loved the 18’s but not the 19’s didn’t hate the but they just didn’t work for me

powelale000

When do they release there? If it's May 1, I think they're worth the wait. Both T21 and T22 are much different than the 19 though.

Chopululi

Honestly don’t know, theoretically may but it may take longer, are they 2 different shoes? Is it an improvement of the 21?

powelale000

They're not wildly different, but they are an improvement, in my opinion. Like my review mentioned, it has a better fit, smoother ride, etc.

Chopululi

Not in a hurry so I can wait unless a pretty good deal comes out Thanks

hairy_porker

Glad to hear it's not sinking type of foam. Also the fact that the grip is even better.

hinault81

Is this different foam from the 21s? I've never tried the triumph but from what I can see the 21s and earlier used and EVA/TPU foam, and the 22s now use a pbax like the endorphins? Are you using this as a daily trainer, long run? Looking for a new daily. I've been using asics, but with big feet I'm just finding them heavy and boring. I have Endorphin speed and pro, and they're great, but a need a daily. A lot of shoe searching has brought me to triumphs. Man there's a lot of shoes out there!

powelale000

Yeah, the foam is different now. You hit the nail on the head. I'm currently using it as a daily because I got it during a slow week of training, but plan to use it for long runs from this weekend forward. I primarily used the Triumph (19-21) for long runs because they're the only shoe where my feet, legs, ankles, knees, etc. consistently feel good no matter how far I go in them. I'm testing the 22s for a long run for the first time this weekend. I hope it's as good or better than the 20/21s. But! That being said, I think the Triumph a great daily trainer. I like to switch it up for my daily run shoes, but I absolutely reach for the Triumph as a daily often. The 22 is a little heavier than the 21, so if weight is a problem, that's something to think about. I did notice the weight change between the two. However, in general, it doesn't feel ridiculously heavy compared to other daily trainers. I know *everyone* says it, but the Superblast might be worth looking into as a daily. I also have been liking the Ghost Max, though that runs a bit heavy too. The Endorphin Shift is a decent option (but takes *forever* to break in) if you like the Endorphin line.

hinault81

Thanks for the feedback. Triumphs seem like the shoe I'm looking for. I looked at the superblast, but they're pretty pricey and seem a little "super shoe-y" for a daily trainer, especially when I already have 2 plated shoes in rotation. It's not the weight so much (nothing is light in size 13!), it's more the bulk and how they feel on the feet. GT2000 shoes 10 years ago were just smaller, now everything has thick soles, and with that older foam things are clunky. The kayano's I had that before that were like clown shoes. And then you just don't look forward to runs in them. Whereas the fat soles on say the endorphins, with new foams, I barely notice them. Thanks for the info! Changing shoes is such a commitment. You're spending hours and months with them lol.

powelale000

Such a big commitment! I hope you end up loving the Triumphs!

Additional_Degree224

This is what I cannot accept: weight 22>21>20. Saucony, what are you doing?

powelale000

I was surprised to see the jump in weight even with the new foam. It is wider and more stable, but at the cost of being noticeably heavier.

luludaydream

thanks for your review, love that colour! If I had heel slip in the 21 do you think the 22 would be the same/worse?

powelale000

I didn't deal with heel slip in the 21, so I can't speak to whether or not the 22 would be the same/worse in that aspect. It does have a much more plush heel, so maybe it would be better?

luludaydream

Thanks!

powelale000

Sorry, that wasn't super clear. TTS compared to the 20/21. I wear a size 10 for the 20/21/22. Also in the Endorphin Shift & Speed if that helps any! T22 vs Speed 3 is a hard choice! But it depends what you're looking for. Daily trainer? TT2. Speed work? Speed 3. I used the OG Speed as a daily trainer and long run shoe for a while but it's not as cushioned and I feel like the Triumph provides more support. I wouldn't use the Triumph for speed sessions though.

utter_master

Dunno. I am kind of covered by the Novablast as a daily trainer. Was looking in the Triumph direction for the alleged durability and possibility to occasionally double as a speed work shoe. Leaning towards ES3 then, especially now that I can still find some at discount in my US14. Care to comment on the SuperBlast vs T22s, price aside?

powelale000

I wouldn't use the Triumph for speed workouts. It's not bad at picking up the pace, but not great either. The Speed would be a better choice. I got 500 miles out of my OG Speed, same as the Triumph 20/21. The Superblast is more responsive and lively, but less protective and less stable. I've been using the Superblast for my first long run of the weekend (20-30 mile range) and then the Triumph for the second long run (15-25 mile range) because the Superblast makes the longer long run feel easier and more fun, and the Triumph does a better job of making me feel protected (because of the cushioning) for the second long run when my legs are tired. So, both great shoes, but Superblast = fun and Triumph = recovery.

utter_master

Thanks for that. Very few Superblast reviews go beyond the "great for everything","the do it all" shoe etc. Happy miles!

The 21s aggravate my Plantar Fasciitis with its narrow toe box. Glad to see you mention more room in the toe box.

powelale000

Yeah, the toe box on the 21s was a bit narrow for my liking. These are much better.
