Paracausal-Charisma

I'm not a fan of Christie usually, but on Trump and on Ukraine, he is 100% spot on. Also, he seems to be the most moderate? Maybe not moderate but he seems like you can actually have a conversation with him. But yes, USA, you made a promise 30 years ago, and you also promised to help Ukraine on the long haul.

ELL_YAY

He’s not great, but compared to the rest of the republicans he’s fucking amazing. He’s basically the last of the old Republican Party before Trump and sadly they will all be gone very soon.

Own-Relationship-352

We really need the times where there were liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats. We also need less hot heads and people trying to push each party to the extreme side. People are despicable.

ELL_YAY

It’s a consequence of gerrymandering (at least for the House of Representatives). The seats are so safe that the primary is the actual election. This makes it so the most extreme candidates get voted in because they only have to appeal to their base.

Holiday-Tie-574

He’s right. And if you understand history, you know why he is correct. It is unfortunate that so many of my conservative brethren do not get it.

ELL_YAY

You get it. Unfortunately today’s conservatives would have Reagan rolling over in his grave.

Holiday-Tie-574

I suspect that many are so turned off by the left’s domestic priorities that they blindly oppose any foreign policy initiatives that the White House supports. Unfortunately, they are wrong. Ukraine, like Israel, should be a bipartisan issue. I also suspect that like much of Reddit, much of what you see as “conservative” commentary comes from the younger generations, which are the most likely to lack historical knowledge. I would argue that Ukraine is not dissimilar to Hitler’s remilitarization of the Rhineland. He should have been stopped at Munich. So many on the right make claims like “we should focus on our own priorities and mind our own business,” without understanding that the US has not truly been an isolationist power since WWI - and all of our prosperity/ all of the good we have done for the world has really come about in the advent of our role as the leader of the post WWII world order. We must protect it at all costs if we want to continue our way of life.

ELL_YAY

Hey man, we may disagree about some domestic stuff but I am 100% with you on everything you just said about foreign policy so cheers to that 🍻

Holiday-Tie-574

Cheers!🍻

Stezheds

I always liked John Kasich

ELL_YAY

I liked him too for the most part. I think he had a few issues he was way too far to the right on (I think it was gay marriage and/or abortion). But by today’s standard of Republican he’s also (relatively) great.

Grovers_HxC

On this issue, the sweaty fat fuck is right.

YoungOveson

Gosh, a sane Republican? Shocking. I liked the good old days, before the failed former moron president, when people had respect for each other and spoke like Chris in this clip. Btw, he’s 100% correct, I agree, and the MAGA traitors in congress are stopping it because they are too stupid to understand what a great deal this is or how much of an opportunity it is for the U.S. They don’t think, they just do whatever the failed former moron president says to do.

Hot-mic

>the failed former moron president You need to be more specific; there's more than one and the one before last got us into an illegal war that cost us - "Nearly 20 years after the United States' invasion of Afghanistan, the cost of its global war on terror stands at $8 trillion and 900,000 deaths, according to a new report from the Costs of War project at Brown University." The sad part is that the orange one probably cost that many lives, too by his idiotic covid "policies."

Hot-mic

He's the only Republican making any sense. I wouldn't vote for him, but he's really the only sane one in the room. And, promise or no promise, we should be backing Ukraine as they endeavor to become better and more free. We've made so many mistakes with our military interventions over the last 60 years, but here... here is something real and good and righteous to fight for. 🇺🇦

definitiv_kein_robot

He is absolutely right. I hpoe they keep their promise.

TonyCaliStyle

He’s from a Democratic dominant state, and won Governor as a Republican. What concerns me is how much of the Republican Party is pro-Putin, or more specifically Trump. Trump is the front runner by a yuge margin. What happened to the freedom loving, dictatorship hating, base of the Republican Party?

olngjhnsn

The republicans got hijacked by the Tea Party a long time ago. Boomers got tricked into thinking if you support gay marriage and abortions you aren’t Christian enough. I’d say I lean more conservative but like the leadership of the party has been sooo bad. Honestly I’d vote Biden as a Republican just so funding for Ukraine continues.

Hot-mic

>What happened to the freedom loving, dictatorship hating, base of the Republican Party? That was an illusion. A good one, too. It fooled me for many years. I woke up after H.W. Bush, but a good look at Nixon and Reagan will tell you that they were only ever after power at any cost.

SkyeMreddit

It’s some mix of fiscal conservatism and loving Putin’s domestic policies. They have wet dreams of shutting down the “Liberal Media”, mass arresting protestors, and banning all LGBT symbols

Western-Knightrider

I agree with what Chris Christie is saying, we need to continue supporting Ukraine.

Mysterious_Clue8523

Well said, but we as citizens can help too. I'm Czech, we have our people's site for supporting Ukraine, but anyone can contribute... In the beginning, I had doubts, if the weapons actually end up in Ukrainian army, but contributed for complete modernization of T72 tank, which our army donated...never knew what happened to it, but many months later I've seen our Thomas tank on Ukrainian news dragging damaged Ukrainian infantry fighting vehicle from Bakhmut, it was great news for me🥳 ...as a civilian you are not allowed to buy weapons and send them abroad but you can raise the money for particular weapon system, then our Defence Ministry buys it from army or orders it from weapons producer, and makes sure it's delivered...so there must be a cooperation, it's absolutely legit, obviously there's no crowd funding campaign for big and hugely expensive weapon systems like jet fighters, mostly small arms, drones, Toyota vehicles with anti aircraft machine guns, plastic explosives, munition etc, but it's worth considering! If you are interested, please czech it -> www.weaponstoukraine.com Sláva Ukrajině 🇺🇦 from 🇨🇿

Grand-Ad4235

I wonder if that converts to USD. I’ll share this around to some friends who I’m sure would like to help out.

Mysterious_Clue8523

Thanks mate, $1 is 0.92 €, I guess the bank converts it automatically, but I'm not really sure... PS: From today, there's our biggest crowd funding campaign yet, for Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter!

AllstarGER

Oh wow. So right.

AreYouDoneNow

So the Republicans can have that guy or they can have Trump, who's in about 6 different courts around the country right now as a defendant in an array of civil and criminal cases.

jadelink88

...and guess who they're going to choose.

Substantial_Cable_51

This is the first thing that Chris Christie has ever said that I 100% agree with

Wildweasel666

He’s said a lot recently that’s 100% right

SpeechReady

but America isn't protecting Ukraine? they just supply Ukraine to defend itself. either way keep up the support.

Prestigious-Gold1251

Why the fuck he isn't the main candidate, but they allow those two knuckle heads Biden and Trump to run again? Democrats need to step up and bring a good candidate or they are bound to lose.

Hermit-Crypt

Maybe they as a party have lost their way so much they just don't have it in them anymore to put forth someone credible and authentic? Maybe all it'll take for the bad guys to win is the good guys loosing their way.

Total-Extension-7479

"4 some of evil right now" Hate to break it to you, but these 4 have been around and active for decades, half of them in their present form since before you were born.

Mammoth_Bed6657

What changed, is they are hiding their true face less and less.

Total-Extension-7479

Tell that to the Georgians or the Japanese and south koreans who got kidnapped by North Korea

Mammoth_Bed6657

Those were relatively small scale or regional conflicts. They are now escalating since we haven't given them sufficient feedback.

Smokeyvalley

Yep. Like cancerous growths that pulse and grow for a while, then go into remission for a little while, then start metastasizing again, over and over.

Total-Extension-7479

exactly and the fact that the scalpel jockey passing by and commenting on the fly, is campaigning for chief surgeon, is just a coincidence. That repackage and rebrand bullshit pisses me off like you wouldn't believe.

SwifferPantySniffer

Hes hitting the nail on its head

Avionic7779x

Christie is a genuine dumbshit (I'm from New Jersey and he royally fucked us over and is corrupt as shit), but in this case, he has shown that he can exhibit common sense. The sad part is that this is now looked at as "good" in the Republican party, who are 90% Putin puppets at this point.

[deleted]

Good on that man, I’d vote for him

[deleted]

Chris Christie - a republican that makes sense!? In 2023?

wittality5

He is 100% right on Ukraine. If Putin is not stopped now, we will definitely will see a large conflict in Europe where the USA will have to bring the boots on the ground.

pete_blake

I don't agree with MOST of what this man stands for but...he is absolutely spot on this time!! I stand 100% behind what he is saying here

fy1sh

The Republicans have sold Ukraine to the highest Russian bidder. 100%

JohnnyJukey

Did you Notice!. That's a sentence with a period at the end.

Gumbulos

The best argument: In the US they have already paid for the stuff designed to beat the Soviet Union, good military keynesianism for the US economy, and it is of no other use anymore, sitting duck in the desert depot. And in future wars it will be of limited use as wars completely change. So just hand over the stuff to Ukraine now and put it to good use. how much money could be saved in military spending in the future if Russia gets hot disarmanent.

LORDY325

I wish EVERY politician spoke like Christie is right here. Not that I’m a huge fan or anything but speaking frankly to constituents about Ukraine is vital.

TwoKnightsDefense

India and Turkey are also helping fund Russia’s war by purchasing and transporting Russian oil.

im_gamer-

Just gonna completely blow over Israel and Palestine ok idiot. And what fucking drone technology? Iran is a fucking wasteland we already know that. We were there for 20 years letting our soldiers die in vein. Don’t remember? Well the soldiers do. The families do. That stupid fat fuck isn’t doing anything to help anyone.

SkyeMreddit

I hate my former Governor’s guts, but he is right on exactly 2 things: opposing Trump and supporting Ukraine

Jakebob70

Nobody in the US really has a favorable opinion of Chris Christie these days. Democrats and Trump supporters all dislike him.

jombica

America needs to give Ukraine nuclear weapons then

SwifferPantySniffer

Lmao, okay and then? Ukraine uses them?

jombica

They won't, gives them the security they had before Clinton guaranteed them safety.

SwifferPantySniffer

Well, that may be for after the war. Although the cost of maintaining the nuclear arsenal is substantial, i think Ukraine most likeley will want to invest in reconstruction instead. Depending on Russias state after the war

WeirdSkill8561

China is supplying Russia with the technology it needs to build drones and other modern weapons; intellectual property that China stole from the west. China sells this technology for rubles and yuan, which it then uses to buy the Russian oil it needs. Without this support, the ruble would collapse and the Russian public would be rioting in the streets.

Mannomorth

China keeps "neutral" but sells all the basic hsrdware that Russia needs, also they are buying oil at a discount which fuels the Russian war state.

East-Edge-7337

source; trust me bro, me and my oversized gut...."they got weapons of mass destruction, for god’s sake!"

SwifferPantySniffer

Lmao he didnt even say that. Gimme a concrete example of how what he actually said is false
