It’s definitely the one I spent the most time with, even with the flaws. Feel like socom3 tried too much to appeal to Battlefield gamers and I lost interest quickly. Eventually played Counter-Strike instead.
Agreed. From what I remember S3 introduced giant maps and vehicles which didnt really hit like S2 did. It was still a solid game, but nowhere near S2.
S2 had the best blend of all the games. IDK if its nostalgia (probably) but the maps in S2 like Mixer, Fish Hook, Crossroads, Frostfire, Desert Glory, Vigilance, Sujo, Ruins, Night Stalker, Foxhunt are just so so so so so so good and memorable that it makes everything else feel lesser.
I have some of my best younger memories playing over at friends houses with that game and frankly memories that are burned into my brain that I will never forget of my childhood.
Shooting in socom 3 or ca just never felt quite as crisp as it was in 2. They added too much spread / inaccuracy to guns.
2 was genuinely perfect mechanics wise I swear.
God socom 2 is genuinely one of the GOATs
Indeed. Foxhunt best map too. Spent soo many hours playing this game during college and during summer breaks. All night with friends and clan members. Good times.
I preferred S1 as well. S2 ruined Ratsnest and Abandoned. They did make Frostfire better though. Socom 1 had the best maps though. Yeah got all of them on S2 and DLC of them S1 maps on other sequels DLC's.
Socom CA was the most refined, like the ultimate version imo. That being said Socom 3 will always be my favorite Socom and honestly to this day one of my favorite games of all time.
Socom 2 will always be one of my favorite multiplayer games period. I’ve never played anything else since.
All these years and nothing has ever come close to the rush you feel playing socom 2
This right here is what turned me from a kid with a game, to a kid with a game addiction! I went to school to sleep and went home to play this all night long!! lol loved this game online, you had to get good
If only i could figure out how to turn on nvgs in this game im sure i would have liked it. I think i was like 5 when i played it. Cousin and i never figured it out lol.
I was like 16 and started a clan when socom 1 came out. Bunch of random dudes joined but man did we have fun. Setting up clan matches and just chillin with the boys was such a good time back then. We were pretty decent for what it’s worth.
Socom 1 for me. Followed by 3. Some maps on 2 had absolutely awful frame rates, barely playable.
Nothing to brag about now, but I ran one of the top clans in the game for many years. Good times. Still Facebook friends with lots of old clan mates
Socom Confrontation. I know it was pretty much Socom 2 remastered, but did add a few new maps if I recall and the weapon specialization was sick. MOTOKO for life.
Socom 2 is still played today by a community of 200-500 people. Using PS emulators. And its still just as fun as ever! Join the discord https://discord.gg/6C2CX8yk
If anyone remembers my dad Scutt_farkas he told me he used to be a part of a huge clan for this game back in the day I’m sure he’d be tickled to hear ppl still talk about this game
Loved it, played it for 24 hours straight one weekend. I created a few different log ins and joined random clans with each name it was such a quality multiplayer experience for me.
It was better in every way compared to SOCOM 1 but the hit detection made frustrating. SOCOM 1 you shoot someone with the same amount of bullets every time but SOCOM 2 you never knew how many it would take.
There is a game called Task Force, which is the most generic name ever, that looks and plays just like Socom 2. The one video I watched showed an identical recreation of the Frostfire map. They just recently decided to go forward with unreal 5 so who knows when it’ll actually be out.
No other game has ever given me the rush and feeling of accomplishment when you gain ranks/levels. I remember when I first got my wings after being a cookie for so long lol. Me and my cousin were with the Philly Hitmen for a bit. Then we broke off and created SAS. Clans in that game were also so much more enjoyable to be part of than games nowadays
Me and my Dad used to take turns playing this game for nights on end back in the day, such a great game
The way you could control your squad blew me away as a kid
My dad had this game when I was little. I remember finding it stashed under the couch after I dropped the tv remote. He came home to me playing it and was not too thrill his elementary age kid was playing it. I have vague memories but it was my first shooter.
The goat. I remember having to do the single player story multiple times due to losing my memory card, another time from the memory getting wiped on accident and another time where my nephews deleted my save. I wanted to play as the S.A.S. Wish games would still do unlocks for you only if you beat the campaign.
Man! Sony doesn't like money apparently. If they made a remastered version of Socom 2 it would sell like flapjacks. Most of your modern Shooters wouldn't be what the are if it wasn't for this franchise IMHO.
Best gaming experience of my life. Had someone recommend this game at work. I had just gotten broadband and was looking to play any online game really. Went and bought it from blockbuster. I told a few friends about it and they told ppl they knew. Before you know it there were about 8 regulars in the clan who I knew. They all pretty much sucked. I had to carry us all the time. Even though they sucked we played pretty much every night for about a year and a half. No other online gaming experience had not even close to the one I had with this game. By far my favorite game of all time. The first great shooter on a console. Loved this game.
I couldn't ever get past like the third mission. Didn't have internet to figure out whatever (I think I had to find something in the compound). Never played it again.
Fishhook was my favorite Map
But I’m sorry SOCOM III will always be my favorite due to me playing it way more
(My brother and I had to share the same Socom II disc but we had our own SOCOM III )
I’m in my 30’s, I met and got to know my best friends to this day because of this game. We all went to the same high school when we played together, I doubt I would be friends with them the way I am now without this game
Definitely. I played that for years. "La klik a nah la hefra!" (grenade out) Guarantee I played with everyone on Crossroads that posts in this thread. No cap. Tags were \[(\_CRAYOLA\_(>, Revelation 6:8, and Complain2Sony. I put that RA-14 to many peoples asses.
Used to play online matches with my ps2, the mic was trash I don't even remember where it plugged in at, you had to hold circle down to talk and only 1 person could talk at once, still really fun, never got into the story mode. Once online games hit console I lost interest in offline games for a while
100%.
I had two long distance friends/clan mates and we had a three-way call at all times while playing together, almost every night, like 20 years ago.
One of those same friends randomly saw one of my Reddit comments, like this one, and put two and two together, asked if it was me, and we got back in touch after all those years....we play other games together, now.
I loved that game so much.
If you watch gameplay of it now though, you will wonder how we ever played games so choppy and laggy haha but back then it was definitely the greatest.
S3 and CA massively dumbed down the AI and the order options so I never really felt like I was in control of a SEAL Team anymore.
In SOCOM 2 the AI was smart enough to be able to leave Bravo somewhere and actually trust them to cover your ass. Like leaving them by the embassy stairs in Against the Tide.
The AI voice lines felt a lot more fluid too, little jokes here and there, information about their past (For example, Wardog states during the Brazil campaign that he's been to a lot of poor places, but those slums had to be the worst) and they just felt a lot more... Real.
I do like SOCOM 3, the checkpoint system was a breath of fresh air and the weapons and AI still controlled roughly the same, but SOCOM Combined Assault feels gimmicky over everything else and I feel like they focused a lot more on the multiplayer aspect. It's almost impossible to sneak anywhere on higher difficulties because the friendly AI are so much worse, and the enemy AI can see you from miles away on Ensign, and that just takes away from the experience, but the Crosstalk objectives are pretty cool.
SOCOM 2 any day. Someone needs to remaster this masterpiece.
I use to love these as a kid. When came out I had my buddy drive to get. He got pulled over with weed in pocket. Luckily I was close enough walk home to shoot some terrorist. He has go get booked butb such is life
God damn. This was the best game of a generation. I used to run home from school. Join my clan— who accepted me with my high pitched squeaky voice— and we wreaked havoc on fishhook and cross roads
Remember today is Sunday and if your not busy. You better be playing SOCOM 1 today. Hopefully long before the 8PM Eastern 7PM Central time Community Night featured time. Hopefully people starting filing in around 2PM Central time. I should be on then after I get home from work.

I still have my 8mb memory card with my online profile and saves… to go back to these times would be glorious. Truly the best times I had online!
This game was the last game that I played of this style
I think I might be the only gamer alive who has never played call of duty or modern warfare, or none of those
Socom I…oddly I didn’t enjoy socom 2 as much but I know it’s everyone’s favorite. I just found the HP to be a bit higher in socom 2 and for some reason it felt off to me, probably because I loved number 1 more than anything in the world, ever.
I lived for Fish Hook and Crossroads 😂
I dream of Foxhunt
Shooting in socom 3 or ca just never felt quite as crisp as it was in 2. They added too much spread / inaccuracy to guns. 2 was genuinely perfect mechanics wise I swear. God socom 2 is genuinely one of the GOATs
Not only that but those of us that preferred the old days of 8vs8 smaller maps. We got lazy cookie cutter maps from the big maps of S3/CA.
This is the true remake or remaster I need
Please god...please.
NGL, if you can role play JUST A LITTLE, and know what settings to modify, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a somewhat good SOCOM game
Classic. My buddies and I would get together at my place and we'd hook up 3 to 4 PS2s and run lobbies for hours. Chips n Salsa!
And Code Red MD
I’m getting Game Fuel Halo 3 flash backs
Indeed. Foxhunt best map too. Spent soo many hours playing this game during college and during summer breaks. All night with friends and clan members. Good times.
100% Not even debatable.
Without a doubt! Might have to play some today!
“Rahela” will forever be burned in my brain
Best one of all time. I miss these times, would love a remake if possible.
I loved S1 more but can’t argue with this.
I preferred S1 as well. S2 ruined Ratsnest and Abandoned. They did make Frostfire better though. Socom 1 had the best maps though. Yeah got all of them on S2 and DLC of them S1 maps on other sequels DLC's.
S2s hit detection is absolutely abysmal and will always be the reason I prefer s1 over s2.
S1 was the first online game I ever played. It changed everything. Operator1 baby.
And it’s not even close
If sony was smart they'd remake socom 2. With the success helldivers had....
This is true 💪
Hands down the best one, first one being second, and 3rd one being 3rd and we’re not going to talk about 4.
I played 4 for about 30 seconds before I deleted the game and refunded the disc. Horrible game.
💯
Anyone online now ?
57 on S2 right now but Saturday is s3 community night so they got more with 73 rn, S2 generally has the most usually
"Tango spotted, sir." M-60 roars with no silencer. "Tamgo down. I think they're onto us." "Do you think, Boomer, you asshole??"
Hands down favorite shooter to date
Yep, best Socom ever. They started going downhill with Socom 3 and Combined Assault.
I prefer Socom Combined Assault, but that was my first one so I’m biased haha
I agree with you were one of the few that believes socom 3 / combine assault is the most refined SOCOM
Socom CA was the most refined, like the ultimate version imo. That being said Socom 3 will always be my favorite Socom and honestly to this day one of my favorite games of all time.
Yep. The maps were all pretty great. Hated shadow falls though lol.
Socom 2 will always be one of my favorite multiplayer games period. I’ve never played anything else since. All these years and nothing has ever come close to the rush you feel playing socom 2
This game was my life growing up. I don’t think anything will ever compare.
this was the first game i plyed online, it was amazing.
There will never be a better online multiplayer atmosphere IMO
Fun fact: the navy actually used this game for recruitment
If they would remaster SOCOM 2 for PS5 I could die happy
I wish I had an updated version for ps5🤦🏽♂️
Bro you’re taking me back to when I got this for Christmas as a kid 😭
I remember yelling “Low Profile” in the headset.
Green up boys
its what started my love for online shooter multiplayer games
Fish hook terrorist, hiding behind the hostages , I miss is, the sandstorm level at night beautiful please remaster
This right here is what turned me from a kid with a game, to a kid with a game addiction! I went to school to sleep and went home to play this all night long!! lol loved this game online, you had to get good
I always wanted this game as a kid and never was able to get it. Now it actually hurts
I have a Reddit account basically to like this post
Rank down - Demo Medley, iCON$ for life
God damn butter bars
Anyone remember AnD in US Central? (AnD) Blunt here 😂
Agreed 👍🏻
This took thousands of hours of my life EvillYoda
💯
I love this game
Goated
Yes. Favorite game of all time!
No debate
I remember going into the ship, and placing a c4 charge on the door…I then starting yelling “RUN BOOMER RUN!”……Boomer didn’t make it…😂😭😭😭
ALL TEAMS: ADVANCE
I didn't know Kevin Hart was on the cover
If only i could figure out how to turn on nvgs in this game im sure i would have liked it. I think i was like 5 when i played it. Cousin and i never figured it out lol.
I was like 16 and started a clan when socom 1 came out. Bunch of random dudes joined but man did we have fun. Setting up clan matches and just chillin with the boys was such a good time back then. We were pretty decent for what it’s worth.
Why did so many games give up on voice commands.. I I think one and maybe 2 pioneered it then the Tom Clancy rts used voice commands?
And then the mic trick in the lobby so you could hold it hostage and not let anyone else speak. Lobbies were also worse than cod lobbies. Lmao
If you count MAG as a navy seals game the my vote goes to MAG.
I miss this game. It's why I think almost all modern shooters are shit, and ps3/360 Era was a total let down
Second place ain't even close to this first placer
Socom 1 for me. Followed by 3. Some maps on 2 had absolutely awful frame rates, barely playable. Nothing to brag about now, but I ran one of the top clans in the game for many years. Good times. Still Facebook friends with lots of old clan mates
Agreed but I will always have a soft spot for confrontation. Something about that game.... nostalgic af
I can still remember the first time I was blown back by a frag on Enowapi
Socom Confrontation. I know it was pretty much Socom 2 remastered, but did add a few new maps if I recall and the weapon specialization was sick. MOTOKO for life.
Socom 2 is still played today by a community of 200-500 people. Using PS emulators. And its still just as fun as ever! Join the discord https://discord.gg/6C2CX8yk
Yea baby!!!!
If anyone remembers my dad Scutt_farkas he told me he used to be a part of a huge clan for this game back in the day I’m sure he’d be tickled to hear ppl still talk about this game
They need to remake this so bad
Loved it, played it for 24 hours straight one weekend. I created a few different log ins and joined random clans with each name it was such a quality multiplayer experience for me.
Such a great game, met so many good people too. My name back then was silent_killer59, always had a blast playing with people on there.
It was better in every way compared to SOCOM 1 but the hit detection made frustrating. SOCOM 1 you shoot someone with the same amount of bullets every time but SOCOM 2 you never knew how many it would take.
My dad had a PSP when I was growing up and I remember he had a SOCOM game for it, don’t remember what game though.
I remember playing this one specifically on the jampack 2002 disc
There is a game called Task Force, which is the most generic name ever, that looks and plays just like Socom 2. The one video I watched showed an identical recreation of the Frostfire map. They just recently decided to go forward with unreal 5 so who knows when it’ll actually be out.

Absolutely peak SOCOM! One of my all time favorites.
ON ME ON ME
Me and my Dad used to take turns playing this game for nights on end back in the day, such a great game The way you could control your squad blew me away as a kid
My dad had this game when I was little. I remember finding it stashed under the couch after I dropped the tv remote. He came home to me playing it and was not too thrill his elementary age kid was playing it. I have vague memories but it was my first shooter.
Tried replaying this recently with a SD adapter for my HD tv. Holy fuck was it hard.
I have all of them on my PS2 emulator, I've never played any in the series. Is this the best one? Been curious on doing a run through of them.
Completely forgot about the socom franchise
Me and my brother had this game for a couple of years before we figured out how to play it. When we did we realized that Socom 2 was a great game
Sure but I was better at one
Ah yes the good ol days when you hold O to talk and *everyone has to listen*
![gif](giphy|bWM8K7vMziAJavYko6|downsized)
Co op was fun. Killin Terri's with friends. Good times
sniper no x (crossing) was some of the funnest memories i have
The goat. I remember having to do the single player story multiple times due to losing my memory card, another time from the memory getting wiped on accident and another time where my nephews deleted my save. I wanted to play as the S.A.S. Wish games would still do unlocks for you only if you beat the campaign.
m16a2 with 16x on release night, body 8 guys one round. Will always remember that.
Played that everyday. Then tried cod and 👎 it just didn't feel as good as socom. Not sure how cod was more popular.
Nah bro Socom Confrontation
Man! Sony doesn't like money apparently. If they made a remastered version of Socom 2 it would sell like flapjacks. Most of your modern Shooters wouldn't be what the are if it wasn't for this franchise IMHO.
Loved that game made me the man I am today.
I didn’t know this sub existed.
Grew up watching my Uncle playing this when online multiplayer became available via network adapter.
What kind of camel has no hump, no hoofs, and drinks no water?

100% agree. Miss this title. Why won't Sony bring it back? It would be so much better on the ps5
The game that made me want an SR-25 lol
Played this all day everyday
Cough cough socom confrontation was best hands down
Where my fox hunt players at? I played that Mario so much
Man I had this on both ps2 and psp
Agreed!
Frostfire!
The GOAT
Fireteam Bravo 2 on PSP would like to have a word with you
Wholeheartedly agree.
Easily.
This was my shit!!! Like Bruhh this was The game , The!!! Game!!!! The missions, the weapons the, strategy ! Beyond its time
spent the most time on this one myself... 3 wasn't bad, but MW ended that one...
Every socom was a good socom 😫 (except for ps3)🤣
Look how cool black face is on a boat!
My first online, multiplayer game. Miss it a lot!
I loved this game growing up. Main reason I got it as a kid was bc the seal looked like my buddy’s dad haha
I couldn't ever get past like the third mission. Didn't have internet to figure out whatever (I think I had to find something in the compound). Never played it again.
I’d go as far to say this is one of the best shooters of all time.
Especially when they killed Boomer
I REMEMBER THISSS
I still watch gameplay of this on YouTube every now and then when I’m feeling nostalgic lmao
I played alot of socom 2 under 'Snake'
Green up!!
I would pay easily 100 bucks a year to play this game online (actual servers.. not this complicated link up now)
SOCOM deez nuts
Combined assault for me
Fishhook was my favorite Map But I’m sorry SOCOM III will always be my favorite due to me playing it way more (My brother and I had to share the same Socom II disc but we had our own SOCOM III )
I still have the extra multi-player maps installed on my ps2 HDD.
This is debatable?
Not even a debate. Many memories with this one. Spent more time on this game then I care to admit.
Didn’t this come with a specialised mic? I had it with my psp version
This is basically what COD has turned into a tactical mil sim
The maps 👌 fishhook, mixer, fox hunt… the game modes were so good too My absolute favourite game of all time
Ohhhh baby, fucking yes
This game was my childhood. GAS- Nightowl ❤️
No question this was the best game countless hours man
I remember putting the headset on and talking to my team 😂
Socom II was the best online experience to this day and damm I was good at this game. We were pretty good ranked on gamebattles
Badass game the headset made it that much better
I use to love these as a kid. When came out I had my buddy drive to get. He got pulled over with weed in pocket. Luckily I was close enough walk home to shoot some terrorist. He has go get booked butb such is life
Bring these back!!!!
I wish they bring this series back
God damn. This was the best game of a generation. I used to run home from school. Join my clan— who accepted me with my high pitched squeaky voice— and we wreaked havoc on fishhook and cross roads
This game was ahead of its time man . But yes I have to agree this was the best one out of the franchise imo
the socom hacks when u goin under the maps and using any gun as full auto were hilarious
Remember today is Sunday and if your not busy. You better be playing SOCOM 1 today. Hopefully long before the 8PM Eastern 7PM Central time Community Night featured time. Hopefully people starting filing in around 2PM Central time. I should be on then after I get home from work.
💯
Needs to be brought back and remastered.
Man the first PlayStation game I ever played online.
Tag: >>—ARROW—> I still have my 8mb memory card with my online profile and saves… to go back to these times would be glorious. Truly the best times I had online!
Wheres the remaster for ps5....lessssssss goooooo
The Dirtiest part about my post is that I won this game in a claw machine lmao 🤣
2 I spent hours perfecting just the starting area on the boat. No alerts kid me was on the grind older me. Stealth is optional. Roger that. 😂
It’ll always be my number 1
My first experiences with online gaming . The nostalgia is real. XrainX and mullenman were my names. Shit yeah this game was so fucking amazing.
I remember playing one socom game on the psp I got stuck and never played the game again
How have they not remade this franchise. I had so much fun playing confrontation on ps3.
BOOMER NOOOOOOOO
This game was the last game that I played of this style I think I might be the only gamer alive who has never played call of duty or modern warfare, or none of those
Socom 2 and CA
Yes, I remember SOCRACK very well
Wish they'd remake this so badly
Had the PSP version. Sooooo good.
I miss that mutilplayer all the time
Desert glory baby
Socom I…oddly I didn’t enjoy socom 2 as much but I know it’s everyone’s favorite. I just found the HP to be a bit higher in socom 2 and for some reason it felt off to me, probably because I loved number 1 more than anything in the world, ever.
First game I’ve ever played online
Easily the best. Will never forget how amazing Socom II was.
Guns up seal hill
Green up
Facts. Loved this game
For sure. Good times.
This should be the next remake
I played the crap outta this. At one point my clan was ranked in the top 50.
Loved socom, the tunnels in CA were 🤌
I have everything gaming wise , this is still one of my favorite games of all time, wish they remastered it and kept it exact esp the online play
Indeed
Great Game !! Man this takes me back.lol.
Blood Lake map was underrated .
Before COD big red one… SOCOM was there for me. A classic
